    Great tips, I’ve done a few Jelly Rolls quilts on my Forte. Watching you both with that tool thingy, it’s like watching curling lol. Great ideas though. Thank you

      I may have just laughed super loud in the office!! That is hilarious! I even screen shotted it and sent it to Kim who is home today!

    I am watching this a year later. So nice to have the videos available. This is a great idea and I love that it isn’t a typical row quilt. My only concern is for those of us who use the manual clamps. It would be nice to see you do it using the clamps by yourself. I am sure you would have great ideas for that! Thank you for sharing your great ideas!

      Using the manual channel locks is the same as using them on Pro-Stitcher. You just need to put them on the wheels each time (and take them off) rather than pushing the button on the screen.

    This is a great idea and for novice, who just got their longarm and/or, who have been away from their longarm. Many thanks.

    I appreciate you using the Moxie for this demonstration since that is what I have and it's nice to see that it can be used for these type of projects.

    I really like the quilt you made out of your grandmother’s fabrics. I love bright pastels and think it turned out so pretty! 🌷

    Kim and Kristina, great video...AGAIN! If you do another, might I mention it would have been VERY interesting to see how to quilt each strip as Kim did on her quilt. Thank you ladies!

    • @HandiQuilter

      Thank you Joette!
      It would be the exact same technique but rather than having seams and then cutting at the end of each pass, you would just lay down one strip at a time.

    I had fun doing this. I wanted to try out my square foot. However I didn’t follow exactly. You said to be careful. I broke one needle and pierced a finger three times, but fortunately there was no damage to the quilt and other than pain any issues for the quilted digit.

    • @HandiQuilter

    I’ve used a tiny bit of spray basting on the batting then fold the strip down. It really helped keep each row in place while I quilted it. It’s not for everyone, but it worked for me.

    • @celinehatch6202
      @celinehatch6202 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With the spray basting I didn’t have to sew a stabilizer stitch on every row.

    Awesome! I’ve done a traditional jelly roll race but this would be great for more newbie practice on my Moxie. I’d the 2023 show schedule posted somewhere? Would love to find a show close to me to visit your booth.

      We don't have it posted anywhere but that would be helpful!! I will ask our events coordinator if that is something they could do. I do know we will be at the AQS shows plus more.

    When you use the ruler base for this type of quilting do you have the frame in clearview?

    • @HandiQuilter
      @HandiQuilter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since you don't have anything loaded on the top pole, it doesn't matter if it is standard or clear. Even if you do use the ruler base for other types, it is your personal preference for standard of clearview.

    What does the backing look like after you’ve made the two rows of sewing one to stabilize and then the second one where you sew on the next piece of fabric just curious what it will look like on the other side but I love the process. Thanks for your tutorial. Great job.

    • @HandiQuilter
      @HandiQuilter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has two lines about 1/8" apart for each row.

    Like the quilt rolled up on longarm; looks like fussy cut herbs motifs on solid background fabric? Would like to see completed quilt top/quilt if/when available.

    • @HandiQuilter
      @HandiQuilter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a twin to the one that is hanging as the background quilt.

    Do all the strips stay approximately the same width by using the channel lock. The quilt on the wall looks really good but I’m afraid mine would look wonky.

    • @HandiQuilter
      @HandiQuilter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The channel lock keeps the lines straight which keeps the width of the strip the same. If you keep the seam allowance consistent, each strip should be about the same width.

  • @sandycampbell6600
    @sandycampbell6600 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As each strip/row is sewn, would you recommend quilting as you go for each row or wait til quilt top is complete?

    • @HandiQuilter
      @HandiQuilter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've done it both ways. I guess the determining factor would be if you need to change your thread color or not!

    Question: Why the square foot instead another foot?

    • @HandiQuilter
      @HandiQuilter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is easier to visually see if everything is lining up. It also helps hold the fabric down.
