  • New for 2023
    The Tiguan is available in four trims for 2023-S, SE, SE R-Line Black and SEL R-Line. After receiving a refresh for MY22, the Tiguan adds minor cosmetic changes including new 19-inch wheels for SE R-Line Black models.
    MSRP for the 2023 Tiguan starts at $26,950 for the S with front-wheel drive and $28,450 for the S with 4Motion all-wheel drive. Destination is $1,295.
    Tiguan is the best-selling Volkswagen in the U.S. and worldwide
    Revised exterior features a bold front end with standard LED headlights
    New standard tech includes Digital Cockpit, KESSY® keyless entry; available features include Climatronic® Touch, steering wheel with touch controls, 30-color ambient lighting, Dynamic Road Sign Display, and Park Assist
    IQ.DRIVE driver assistance technology available from base model and standard from second trim; Front Assist and Side Assist are standard on all models
    Available in four trim levels-S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and SEL R-Line-the 2022 Tiguan benefits from an even further democratization of state-of-the-art in-vehicle technology. All 2022 Tiguan models come equipped with the 8-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit instrument cluster, while a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro is available on the top trim. Other standard features include LED headlights and taillights, KESSY® keyless entry with push-button start, Car-Net with Wi-Fi capability, heated front seats, Driving Mode Selection, Front Assist, and Side Assist.
    The starting MSRP of the refreshed 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is $26,490 for the S front-wheel-drive model and $27,990 for the S 4Motion® all-wheel drive model. Destination is $1,195 for all Tiguan models.
    The advanced Volkswagen Digital Cockpit system, standard on all Tiguan models, presents drivers with a fully digital instrument cluster. S, SE, and SE R-Line Black models feature an 8-inch display with two views and customizable widgets to show a variety of vehicle information. SEL R-Line models upgrade to a 10.25-inch fully configurable Digital Cockpit Pro with three views-including full-screen navigation for equipped models-and 21 viewing options, including car status, navigation, driving data, phone information, driver assistance features, and more.
    Powertrain
    The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is powered by an advanced 2.0-liter version of the EA888 four-cylinder engine. This version of the benchmark EA888 four-cylinder, turbocharged direct-injection engine uses an innovative modification to the conventional four-stroke cycle, offering an outstanding combination of power, efficiency, and responsiveness. It incorporates a modified version of the Miller cycle called the Budack cycle for improved combustion efficiency. The upshot is 184 horsepower that kicks in at 6,000 rpm, and maximum torque of 221 pound-feet is available from just 1,900 rpm. All Tiguan trims are equipped with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission.
    A Start/Stop system is standard for all Tiguan trims, and is designed to help improve fuel efficiency. This technology stops the engine during idle when the brake pedal is held (such as when waiting at a red light). When the brake pedal is released, the engine quickly restarts.
    Tiguan models configured with front-wheel drive have 15.3-gallon fuel tanks; models with 4Motion all-wheel drive feature 15.9-gallon tanks. EPA-estimated fuel economy for front-wheel drive models is 23 mpg in city driving, 30 mpg on the highway and 26 mpg in combined driving. S and SE models with 4Motion all-wheel drive are rated at 22 mpg in city driving, 29 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in combined driving; R-Line 4Motion models are rated at 21 city, 28 highway and 24 combined.
    Tiguan models have a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 lbs when equipped with a dealer- or port-installed trailer hitch.
    Chassis
    Mounted in a lightweight, one piece, strengthened steel subframe, the strut-type front suspension on Tiguan has lower control arms and long-travel coil springs. At the rear, the robust four-link system has been designed to cope with the rigors of driving off paved surfaces and to accommodate the available 4Motion all-wheel drive.
    Electro-mechanical power steering with variable assistance contributes to the fun-to-drive character of the Tiguan. At highway speeds, the steering becomes firm and direct, while at parking speeds, assistance is increased.
    An impressive braking system matches the athletic performance of Tiguan. At the front are 13.4-inch -diameter vented discs, with 11.8-inch-diameter solid discs at the rear. The system features a brake disc drying feature to help remove water from the rotors to optimize wet-weather braking, as well as Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD), and Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA). All Tiguan models also feature an electronic parking brake.

    Well done on the camera work Mike. That's technically pretty tricky to pull off. Colors are good and info nice and clear.
    Waiting for one of these to be delivered in UK, so this was a bit of a heads-up ahead of my first drive in this car.
    Thanks.

    I have been considering a Tiguan and I was very interested in knowing how the Tiguans 'I.Q. lights' functioned... especially after I got informed on what the replacement part cost is : )

    Nice video! I had a 2018, there was ambient lighting around the moon roof. It was very cool and the only thing I liked about the car.
    Wonder why they got rid of it

    • @btbt2565
      @btbt2565 ปีที่แล้ว

      For some cars, water got from the sunroof to the roof lightning because of this lightning integration, so they removed it (as I know)

    My European model gets cascading turn signals (lights up moving left to right). It has ambient lights on rear doors as well. It has 2 LED lights in the trunk. The one on right side is removable as a torch light. The tail lights graphics are more interesting. Instead of 2 vertical bars, there are 3 reverse alphabet L of different size. BTW, you can add rear footwear lights under the front seats. N additional puddle lights under each doors.

    You should also have noted that the turn signal stalk and the wiper stalk do not have built-in illumination and both serve various secondary purposes as well. Big Zonk!!

    The ambient lighting could have been done just the one in the Jetta SEL premium. I don’t understand why they couldn’t do that on this one 🤦🏼‍♂️

    No amber in the rear and just flashing the brake lights. Pathetic and a deal breaker for me! Red turn signals need to die immediately

    • @mrchris7277
      @mrchris7277 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why?

    • @exoticcar5482
      @exoticcar5482 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mrchris7277 Because they're a safety compromise. Every other part of the world besides North America has mandated separate amber turn signals for a reason. Red turn signals can always be confused as a brake light in many situations when your eyes or your car is in an area where the third brake light will be out of your area of central vision. This is because even if the light is flashing, the first time it turn on, it is a solid light and thus will look identical to a brake light until a couple flash cycles complete. Amber will give a clear, concise indication that the driver intends to turn or change lanes without a single flash cycle having to complete. It is the better, faster, safer, and superior turn signal in literally every way. Also not to mention turn signals that flash brake lights are the worst because in this case, you lose a brake light on whichever side the turn signal is flashing on every time you turn on the turn signal.

    • @mrchris7277
      @mrchris7277 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@exoticcar5482 Ah yeah I see what you mean, it's kind of funny, I have a 2014 tiguan that uses the red taillights as the signals, even though the amber part still remains from Europe.

    • @exoticcar5482
      @exoticcar5482 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrchris7277 In that particular case they do that because they [intentionally] made the amber part too small to comply with the US DOT's minimum size requirements
