  • In our first custom build video we have 3D printed an FPV frame and put together all the parts to create a fully working drone. We take you through the process from the 3D printing using our Purse i3 Mark 3 3D printer, assembling it with all our FPV parts and finally test flying it.
    Let us know what you think of this projects and what you would like to see us do next with our 3D printer and R&D team here at EDC.

    have you tried printing these drones with PET bottle filaments?

    amazing, maybe you wanna try to test crash to see how the impact.. 😂

      We have printed and flown lots, this is our first share on the channel. They don’t handle impact well but it’s a fun project and easy way to test parts integration

      Honestly does it really matter if it's crash resistant if you can print another one within a hour or two.

      Great thing about printed frames is you can print 10 of them in a day and if one breaks, its easy to replace!

      Print a test frame off thingiverse, leave it out in the sun for an hour or two.
      I think PLA/PLA+ is too prone to warping in the sun. ASA may be a better choice since its rated up to 90°c as to most PLA at 40°c

    • @guman3868
      @guman3868 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @EnvyOCE Its possible to print in pla but if u want it to be sun resistent u can make a protective layer of high temperature tape

    What’d you use to print with? PETG? Have you had the first crash with it yet?

    • @edinburghdronecompany
      @edinburghdronecompany  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      My ‘interesting material and method’ at the moment is additive manufacturing and SLS printing. We are using some carbon fibre reinforced products but each part is expensive but worth it for the right items.
      Material we went with on this one was PLA in Galatic black off of memory. We are okay with orange and Teal colours which is fun.
      PETG and TPU as well which is fun playing with more flexible print finishes.

      @@edinburghdronecompany Using PLA, do you anticipate it can handle a crash. I ask because it’s an interesting idea to print frames but the durability is my question. Being new to fpv, I’m very good at breaking things. lol 😂

    • @edinburghdronecompany
      @edinburghdronecompany  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@JuicySmullietFPV - no they are terrible during impacts! They disintegrate 😂
      Stick with carbon fibre, this is only for fun.
      Other print methods and materials stronger but this method and material is only for fun.

      i'd put the camera on top so the weight is more to the center and the camera on top so yo don's see the props as well
