This was another great video, obviously, because it's about my home town, Denver. But you put some good information into the video to keep interest without making it distracting. You also have a very artistic approach, which truly illuminates why I love road travel -- drinking in America. We truly live in a blessed country for so many reasons. However, its beauty - in almost every corner - truly seems a creation of God. You capture that nearly spiritual essence in these urban videos (Denver, NYC), as well as the desolate areas (16-14 Wyoming I-90 West: The Middle of Nowhere II). You put in just the right amount/type of effects to make it pop, without it being gaudy or like a LeRoy Neiman experience. Nice ride- and also the Denver skyline, mountains never fails to impress me at all! Great video- looking forward to more and it was a great way for me to cap a long day!
Another outstanding Denver drive. Also thank you for introducing great music in each video. (Namely "Sweet Sweet Rain" by Gene Loves Jezubel from another Denver drive) Also love the violet effect. As far as hotels, I stayed in the Holiday Inn downtown Denver (which I believe is an Express now.) It was pretty decent, IMO.
I love your video, really enjoyed it, Denver is so beatiful and friendly, a girlfriend that lives there always says "Denver is cold in winter season but with a warm hearth for everyone"
I really love these drive and they make an interesting viewing during breakfast or lunch. The music you play is just great and sets the scene well. The music has also opened my mind to many new artists and bands I'd otherwise never discover and thus has lead me to many a purchase. I used to think driving around the freeways of South East Queensland (Brisbane) listening to uplifting trance was the epitome of a joyous drive. Awesome to see a new video of Denver! The sunsets and the skyline are always awesome. I remember when around mile 278 there were once runways across I-70 from when Stapleton was still the airport
Interesting, I've never had issues with Hampton Inns myself. As for the trip itself, I can imagine how long of a trip it is. A few years ago, I did a road trip with a friend, managing to make it from Temecula, CA, to Minneapolis, MN, in two days. The stop at the end of Day 1 was in Parachute, CO, which I selected specifically to ensure we went through Glenwood Canyon in daylight. The rest of the drive was just LONG. We left from Parachute at about 5am MT and arrived in Minneapolis at about 2am CT. (My friend slept from Grand Island, NE, to Ankeny, IA; then he took over driving and I slept as he drove up I-35.)
I like the hotel commentary. I've had great luck with HIE myself so far. With all the traveling you do it's nice to know which hotels and where are good and not so good. Thanks Jim!
That was fun! Hopefully I can get to see I-70 through all of the Denver area. I only have I-70 from I-270 to I-225. US 6 from I-25 is a good alternate to I-70 and the mountains.
Denver local here. The quickest way to the mountains is I-70, going to 6th takes longer. But the I-70 w portion is a great view, I definitely recommend it.
My wife and I had a pretty poor experience with our hotel in the Denver area a couple of years back as well during our honeymoon. I'm glad you at least got your money back. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. Great video as usual! I'm excited to see the US 6 drive across central Utah. I haven't been through there in a little over a decade.
I live in denver. the sunsets are absolutely amazing there. i recommend going to aspen during the spring or fall. the drive is beautiful. or go to lookout mountain
Your Colorado vids, inspired me to get out of the house, and go see for myself . What an adventure it was too. I also learned I25 coming into Denver from Colorado Springs during rush hours really sucks. All that weed tax money should go to fixing the roads in Denver. lmao
Amazing, you were in my neighborhood. We have some nice hotels in the Tech center, but the staff at most of them are not very good. We just had a hotel torn down because they failed their inspection, and were dropped by a major national hotel chain. The Marriott Residence Inn DTC is pretty good, and there was another larger Hilton "probably a bit more expensive unfortunately" right up the street. I am a huge fan of your videos, and you always pick the right music and the perfect times of day to make amazing videos. Love the video editing as well. Sorry your experience in Denver was disappointing at the hotel, there is also some nicer hotels just up the street a bit in Centennial / Lone Tree right off the freeway.
Thank you very much, glad you enjoy the videos! Denver is a big city, I'm sure I'll have better luck next time with regards to a hotel, Hampton Inn is usually pretty dependable but things happen I suppose.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO! It ALMOST fulfills my addiction to get on the road again, and doesn’t scare me like my husband’s driving does. I would rather do all the driving myself.
Good timing Jim , I just happen to arrive in Denver 10pm last night, came from Iowa. I got lost in some back streets by a Salvation army , I believe around a mile from down town , anyways I was shocked and sickened to see obviously malnourished homeless people sleeping all over the concrete ground and benches , you would think that the city would feed these people Geesh. I'm going to spread the word that these people need help , hope everyone else spreads the word too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! these ain't the same people that are on the street corners with cardboard signs begging for money , most of them people look like there very capable of doing work , the people on the concrete couldn't even move. This is what happens when you legalize marijuana. People come here to buy marijuana, find out it is pretty expensive, still buy it and either live on the streets or out of their cars. Where I live, the Human Services people buy these people bus tickets to get home, but weeks later, they are back and the cycle repeats itself. We need to either legalize marijuana throughout the country or ban it throughout the country.
I like the approach into Denver where you see no hint of a city, just miles and miles of flat brown prairie, then you come over a small rise and it's like "oh, there it is". And yes, it does look like I-70 is badly in need of upgrade.
There's also the Margaret T. Hance Deck Park in Phoenix over I-10 between downtown and uptown. It's where the central library for the city is as well, right above the freeway.
@@mat247365 I was about to post that. I'll add this. Margaret T hence park opened in 1992. It is named after the first female mayor of Phoenix (1976-1983). Indeed, I-10 tunnels underneath the 32 acre park!
Joe Dazey I always loved driving through the tunnels on our way to see family in the West Valley. In fact, I always enjoyed riding on I-10 in Phoenix EVERY time!
Great video, as always. Enjoyed very much your thoughts at the end of it. It would be nice if you could do this more often, I mean share your thoughts about hotels, inns etc.
Fyi...my son & wife experienced a Hampton Inn that was horrible in North Carolina. They gave him the room. Sadly he experienced the same situation at an old historic hotel in Savannah. They ended up not having to pay for an expensive dinner or the room. They were quite uncomfortable and disappointed. It was too late in the day to head home to Augusta so they toughed it out.
Great video, worthy of my 3 views so far... There'll be more. Hmmm... Ghost shield at exit 288. I guess Colfax lost it's Business distinction.😆 That sunset... Wow!
Good choice! I have been very impressed with Holiday Inn Express. I remember the one near Pittsburgh International Airport was very nice, and so was the service.
I was coming through Denver in August of 2019 on I-70 and was kind of expecting to see the bridge over the road from Stapleton International Airport. almost automatically thinking of 1979 when I took that same route. As I came to my senses, I cried. Denver has a beautiful and rich history. I went to Golden to visit a friend for 4 days and then came back home to here in Arizona. It's strange sometimes when you go somewhere and you're "transported" back in time to the "good ole days" Another thing: What happened to your round trip video through the Virgin River Gorge here in Arizona. I loved Stealin' by Uriah Heep. Did you get burned by a copyright claim?
Another great episode. I have noticed a decline at Hampton Inn as well. Perhaps there is some sort of a management issue. When i went through Denver a week or so later, I ended up at a La Quinta in Rifle, which is the next town west of Glenwood Springs.
I love your videos filming my city, You always get the best backgrounds as far as sky's go. Denver is like reaching the gates of a kingdom after a long 8 hour drive through Kansas(my old home state)
Your Hotel travails reminded me of the 'Seinfeld' episode where the rental-car place failed to give him a mid-sized car and after arguing and saying that he didn't think they understood how reservations work, he accepted their compact and agreed that he'd need the insurance for it because . . ." I'm gonna beat the hell outta this thing " > Looking forward to the rest of this excursion. You are still the standard.others are compared to.
FreewayJim.... I feel your hotel pain as I travel 4 days out of the week. I too have remained loyal to HiltonHonors, and especially Hampton Inn, mainly due to the reward points. After the second experience I had VERY similar to yours, I now go to the HiltonHonors app, plug in my destination address and I choose one of the Hilton brands in the vicinity that looks like the newest facility. I can usually tell when a Hampton Inn is out-dated because I prefer a specific room and when I don’t see that room, I know it’s outdated. I will add one more suggestion, I fly a lot so I tend to arrive to my hotel late in the evenings. When using the HiltonHonors app, I always select my room when making the reservation and I can “mobile” check-in 24 hours in advance with the room I selected at the time of reservation. When I check in through the app, I also select the mobile electronic key so I can bypass the counter in the lobby and go straight to my room. This has saved me A LOT of pain, especially when a large group is checking in. And if you prefer that key card from the lobby check-in, go ahead and select an electronic key when you check-in with your mobile phone 24 hours in advance. When you arrive at the hotel, let the receptionist know you prefer to have a card key. This way you are covered in the event it’s late or there is a large group in the lobby. Either way, you have already selected the room and floor you want and have covered yourself rather than relying on the hotel staff. Hope that works for you on your next trip.
Good insight there thank you! I was extremely happy with Holiday Inn Express three nights in a row on the way home, played hotel roulette = no reservations and won, lol.
Cool video, though I can assure you that the detour you took off Colfax to 6th didn't save you any time. It did allow you too get some nice shots of downtown off to the left though, so it's all good. Thanks for posting!
Thank you for highlighting my city! I assume that you took the route you did for the sake of making a scenic video, because you skipped 225 south on I70 at the start, and wound up at the other end of 225 at the end, meaning you went an extra 10-15 miles out of the way. You also weren't in Denver anymore by the end of that - you were in Greenwood Village.
Thanks lovely video. I was born and raised near Denver but recently moved to Nashville. I miss Colorado so this is great memories

These vids are very relaxing
Thank you!
Whew, that merge at ~8:09. Such short distance to get in there.
It's definitley dissapointing when that happens, thankfully it's not that often.
6:10 nice sunset 👊🏻👌🏽☀️
Soft pink clouds with a hint of orange are so lovely
One of the best
Great video, worthy of my 3 views so far... There'll be more. Hmmm... Ghost shield at exit 288. I guess Colfax lost it's Business distinction.😆 That sunset... Wow!
Thank you, glad you are enjoying it, sometimes Mother Nature gives wonderful gifts.
I was stationed out there in 2005-08. There expanding the 25 from castle rock to Colorado springs now.
Thank you for the comment/memory and for watching :)
Yes, that Virgin River Gorge video apparently got zapped, I may remix it someday.
Another great episode. I have noticed a decline at Hampton Inn as well. Perhaps there is some sort of a management issue. When i went through Denver a week or so later, I ended up at a La Quinta in Rifle, which is the next town west of Glenwood Springs.
Thank you, Rifle looks like a neat little town.
I love your videos filming my city, You always get the best backgrounds as far as sky's go. Denver is like reaching the gates of a kingdom after a long 8 hour drive through Kansas(my old home state)
That's a nice way to put and sometimes I get lucky with the skies.
Excellent atmospheric vid, once again.
Thank you Tim!
If you're coming to the San Diego area I would love for you to shoot the 8 eastbound and the 163 both ways. They're magnificent rides!
Been there before and have a few videos on this channel but did not get there on this trip but I do enjoy driving in San Diego for sure.
You read her the riot act -- love it! 😊
I was "Professional" but firm :)
I moved away from Denver and I miss it so much, it was nice to drive through all the areas I used to drive everyday again. Beautiful view as well
Thank you!
I’m with you on the Holiday Inn Express. I am a fan. New and clean is my kind of place.
Epic video!
LOL, how do you know? you posted this only a few minutes after I published it.
Freewayjim because I don’t even have to watch the video to know it’s good :)
@@presto569 LOL, well thank you!
Freewayjim your welcome!
Cool video, though I can assure you that the detour you took off Colfax to 6th didn't save you any time. It did allow you too get some nice shots of downtown off to the left though, so it's all good. Thanks for posting!
Thank you for watching!
Have you ever done 6th ave in from the west?Perfect ride would be 76 to 70 then back in to Denver on 6th avenue..
I have not, usually don't have the time for an excursion like that
@@Freewayjim Its similar to what you did here .. I love how the Denver skyline is visible from alot of angles.. I was born and raised here.
Another great video as always Jim. Just curious why do they call the interchange the mousetrap. I believe it was the I 25 I 70
Thanks, it's just a nickname the locals put on it a long time ago, it has a Wikipedia entry. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mousetrap_(Denver)
Yes I took that route for the camera, we stayed just past I-225 in the Tech Center area.
Nice view of the front range. Too bad I'm on the red eye from Orlando and won't see them coming in
The first few minutes for some reason reminded me of the Battle of Crait in The Last Jedi
Never saw it, will take your word for it :)
Not sure your thoughts but I love seeing moments like 3:01 when you get that great timing of a train going over the overpass just as you approach it.
I mentioned it to my wife when it happened in the car, yeah I like when those things make it on video.
Denver is a great city, it seems very Canadian to me. Great video as always.
New entry on the high five yesss
Mount Katahdin, Maine(New England) is 5,269 feet. Just barely shy of one mile high. Hey that rhymes! LOL
