    Oh... I want to make my own list ;-)
    1. Skid Row - skid row
    2. Motley Crue - Dr Feelgood

      @@gizzy2403 Yeah, agree, Tesla is one of those bands like Europe, Whitesnake, Skid Row, Def Leppard, etc that are not really pure glam but were inspired by the genre at the time. Honestly, I only put them on this list because they toured heavily with Poison in the late 80s.

HM: Pride by White Lion

    Hey Brendon, your list is pretty damn good! I do hope those are your "true" faves though and not just recognizing the "big sellers". I judge these Top 10 lists on the talent in the grooves (back in the day) or on discs in more recent times. No reason a band of lesser reknown can't produce one of the greatest "glam metal" albums of all time. Case in point is Icon's "Night of the Crime" or Firehouse's S/T or Hurricane's "Slave to the Thrill" anyway here's my list:
    1. Dokken - Back For The Attack 1987
    2. Ratt - Invasion of Your Privacy 1985
    3. Icon - Night of the Crime 1985
    4. Firehouse - S/T 1991
    5. Von Groove - S/T 1992
    6. XYZ - Hungry 1991
    7. Winger - S/T 1988
    8. Lynch Mob - Wicked Sensation 1990
    9. Hurricane - Slave to the Thrill 1989
    10. Black 'N Blue - Without Love 1985
    HM to Kix - Blow My Fuse, Def Leppard - Hysteria, Britny Fox - Bite Down Hard, Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood & Eyes - S/T.

      Glam Rock of the 70’s is completely different from Glam Metal of the 80’s. Names are different and easy to distinguish. Glam Metal was the term used during the era so that’s the official term I go with. These bands were more than their hair.

  • @bigdave9269
    @bigdave9269 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love your lists, love your videos… this one there’s a lot to have varied opinions about. The best Winger and Warrant albums are Pull and Dog Eat Dog. Warrant wasn’t even playing those songs on Cherry Pie- session players played a lot of it. The whole term glam is in accurate, too… Glam refers to Slade, Bowie, NY Dolls, etc. Sunset Strip rock, 80s Hard Rock… Man, I wish I could have a sit down conversation with you- we’d talk for hours! Cocked and Loaded (or at least S/T) LA Guns gotta be there with Never Enough having the best riff of the genre. Anyway, kudos to you for narrowing down to a top10. I try, it’s a very difficult task!!! Keep the videos coming! PS Without You was my wedding song. It should be included in their live set!

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The term Glam Metal is from back in the day during the era. I promise you it’s accurate, I lived through it. As far as session players on albums…that may be true but they wrote the songs. But bands aren’t only about studio recordings, live performance is also key to a bands success. There were no hidden players behind curtains. This is not difference than people who love Kiss Alive and UFO’s Strangers In The Night. Both are not really live albums. They had so much of it doctored in the studio that to me they’re not really live anymore. It’s a studio produced album that sounds live. But people accept that. What’s the big deal if session people play on an album? That’s how David Bowie, Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and thousands of other artists do it.

    • @bigdave9269
      @bigdave9269 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrendonSnyder oh I wasn’t trying to come off argumentative, I lived through it also - actually doing work for labels. In the day it was either heavy metal or hard rock and then the bazillion four hundred thousand nine nndred and sixty two subgenres were created. The glam term was more or less a negative connotation that came about when grunge was peaking. Yes, the bands were all over the top and excess was everywhere but while it was happening it was heavy metal and hard rock. Maybe I just remember the negativity associated with it for a few years. Either way, it doesn’t matter… Did you do a video yet top xx records from glam bands that came out in 92-93-94-95??? We got a bunch of spectacular ones that shoulda done better business if the business woulda done their jobs. As for Warrant. I’m not putting them down in anyway. I loved them from the beginning, even Plain Jane. I love them today.

    I would argue that the roots of glam go all the way back to Robert Plant. He was/is the foundation that the rest stood upon. Im not saying Zep was glam in any way, tho there were elements of their music that inspired glam in the coming years.
    Cinderella's Night Songs is probably my all time fave glam record. I love 1st 2 Motley Crue albums as well, even tho they kinda lost me till Dr Feelgood. Skid Rows debut is soooo much fun. Whitesnake - Whitesnake probably should have been on the list.

If he really hated it as much as he says he did, I don’t see why he went along with all of that. I tend to think that he hated how it pigeon holed him and it became a joke during the rise of Grunge which made him blame the record label for asking him to write it. But he still did it himself.
