Rest easy Mr Riley, I was lucky enough to meet you after a show and you were so polite and accommodating to all of the fans. Thank you for sharing your gift and playing the drums on some of my favorite songs. 😢
I met Steve when L.A guns played in Sydney back in 2008. He took the time to talk to every fan that wanted to say hello. I shook his hand and told him I was learning to play the drums. Dude was a legend.
I'm a DRUMMER myself and it scares me to death to know all my heroes/drummer's are passing at such a young age wtf is going on and I'm 46 I hope and pray I make it to see 50 seems like a lot of drummers don't make it passed 50 RIP LEGEND STEVE Riley you well be deeply missed...
This is why SRV is such a huge influence on me, as much as I love his playing it was his ability to get sober that made the biggest impact on me ❤❤❤ RIP
L.A. Guns is my all time favorite band and I was extremely sad when Steve left the band and even more discouraged when there were two versions of the band. So sad that Steve succumbed to pneumonia, something that should seemingly be able to be cured with medication. RIP Mr Riley!
Killing Machine and VICIOUS CIRCLE are my alltime LA Guns favorite song and album.. Still love this band since first time listened to Crystal Eyes.. RIP Mr. Steve Riley🖤
You lived it all Brother! What a great time for you to be right in the middle of it all. And make no mistake, your drumming was perfect for every scenario you were in. You always reminded me of a lizard behind your kit and I love it. One of a kind Brother. Thank you for all of your drumming. RIP Steve Riley.
La Guns had been in my life since I saw the movie " Point Break " . I got to meet Mr Riley when I saw LA Guns for the first time. Steve was such a chill dude and even signed my W.A.S.P and I joked about the copy right .
The craziest....I heard Nevermind on that same Cassette from Tracii Gunns during L.A..Guns touring. I went & got it , days later. Wow , that just blew by mind. RIP Steve Riley
Steve was the nicest and most personable musician I had ever met. Whether playing huge or small venues, always giving it his all. So happy to interact with fans; he was just good people.
First,R.I.P. to Steve Riley as he gives a strongly positive and uplifting interview that gives anyone who wants to make it in the business a lot of hope. And second,I really hope that 80s Metal Recycle Bin continues onward(with their channel) to give us wonderful interviews with many more 80s metal music stars who have inspiring stories to shar with everyone here.
Currently working on new "season" and series of great interviews we think everyone on here will love. Exciting announcement coming soon! Thanks for hanging with us and we're glad you enjoy the channel. Please stay tuned...we promise it will be worth the wait!!
❤ LOVED him! I played, once upon a time, long ago. Everyone says fairly the same thing, which solidifies what I have known since the early 1990s, which is that Steve Riley was a dear. He appreciated everyone. My Chicago's South Side pal, Chip Z'Nuff @EnuffZ'Nuff, Steve Riley, and I were good acquaintances, but more Riley and Chip, for being in the biz, and one being bass and the other being drums. This was our little clique. Riley, (Steven) Adler, Tracii (Guns) and I are Aquarius, & Tracii and I share a birth date. Riley, Adler and I are drummers, but they are/were more than I. Chip is a Virgo, and Virgos tend towards Aquarius for our nonchalant vibes, where Virgo is more concrete or statistical--opposites. Steve Riley's passing took away a drummer and an Aquarius from our little clique. There's one other of the clique, but he's a local WI musician. Riley liked being part of it, although it means nothing. It was just our little thing. Now I remember whose stick that is 😊 I have had a drumstick for years that I kept because someone gave it to me, but I couldn't recall who. I didn't have Riley sign it because, well, I am a drummer, and because of our little clique. Now the stick is back to meaning something to me, and the little clique. "It's Over Now" R.I.P., Riley 4:45 PM CST
Solid drummer w/ a hell of a track record. His playing got a little lighter in later years but thats to be expected with age. He was always in the pocket and always looked cool. He laid some really nice grooves down on Cocked & Hollywood Vampires. R.I.P
Steve knew there was going to be some sort change, the peek. That was September 1991. Some like Steve welcome it, to improvise the career and reflect on those 10 whole years of the 80s. Nirvana really change everything that year of 1991. The underground alternative music exploded until 1999. It's 2023 and there is no Kurt, no Beatles, no WASP no Zepplin, no Elvis. Rock is dead.
We know. Hot summer day in L.A. and he had just done a soundcheck. He ran across the street from the venue to do the interview. He was a drummer...they tend sweat after playing (and running). Our only chance to catch him so that's what we have. Great guy, great stories...let's let him rest in peace!

A GREAT drummer who played some GREAT music! RIP
This guy played as a professional drummer through SIX decades! 70s through 2020s. What an accomplishment in and of itself! R.I.P.
I'm saddened to hear of Steve's passing. LA Guns was a bad ass band and I really liked the first 2 albums the best. RIP Steve.
I met him once when we opened for them in the 90s. Really nice dude. RIP Steve.

Two great W.A.S.P. Drummers now gone, Frankie Banali and now Steve Riley. RIP
Frankie was in Quiet Riot, I wasn' aware he was in WASP, thanks.
Yes he sure was, played drums on The Headless Children album and tour, was in the music videos for The Real Me and Forever Free
@@metalmike570 he played on Headless Children and Crimson Idol, two of their best albums. He frigging slayed the skins!

I didn't know he died. He's a northeast native like me. Idk what part of either NE to NY to NJ he's 1 of us
Pneumonia is the end stage killer for a lot of people who have other health issues first, which he had. Happened to my late husband too.
A wealth of knowledge is this cat... Such a great drummer and a real sunset strip rock star
RIP Steve, my personal favorite was your works in WASP. Great display of musicianship.
RIP Steve. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. The music you helped create will live on as your memory.
Excellent video. Sad to learn of the passing of a respected artist.
Rock on in heaven Steve. 👍👏👏👏👏👏
I met Steve about 20 years ago. Super nice guy and a hell of a drummer. God speed, Mr. Riley!

He’s so positive and such a sharp mind. Great interview! Love his vibe!

I first heard of Steve in The B'zz, right before he joined WASP. Pretty sure I remember he was on American Bandstand with that band.
Get up. Get angry.
Great guy .. I met him? In 93-94 hanging with Ronnie dio..
A really sad loss. RIP
Got a. Chance to meet Steve and Frankie a couple years ago in Daytona. So down to earth. Steve is a great drummer and will be missed.
Sympathy to the band.🌹
Thanks again for coming to Sellersville Theater. It was a great show!
Steve was the nicest and most personable musician I had ever met. Whether playing huge or small venues, always giving it his all. So happy to interact with fans; he was just good people.
Seems like death reveals talent that is not talked about much beforehand. I sure hope to see all the musicians again when the time comes.
So cool to unexpectedly see this interview. Riley was awesome.
Steve hits the nail on the head with everything I remember what he was talking about. Thank you for the great video.
Thanks for the recognition he deserves!🤘

Loved his playing with wasp i never listened to la guns before. Seemed like a cool guy from many interviews i have seen down the Years. Rip to him.
Saw him in 1991 opening for AC/DC. He played the hammer down. Excellent drummer.

Top 5 Glam metal drummers❤
So sad, he was clearly still having a good time in life. Pneumonias are nasty stuff.

Rip Steve Riley 😢.
He seemed like a really cool, nice person.
Some of Steve's best drumming was on Vicious Circle, which is my favorote L.A. Guns album by far. Damn.... knowing he is gone sucks!
Only one song is with him, they took it from Hollywood Vampires : "Crystal eyes".
Huge Fan of LA Guns 🔫 💪 and shame on me because I didn't know he passed 😢until now watching this...

Never knew he was from Massachusetts until I heard this interview.
Revere MA! Sounds like home.
I saw him play with wasp in 1986 .....so sad
Well, this has been a shit week.. I feel like every time I go on social media, there's a new death.
Rest in peace, Mr Riley.
A true rock & roll legend.
God bless him.He was true to himself even if it meant throwing himself into a depraved business where the sharks do bite.
Was he buried, or cremated ?
Can't find any information on his resting place.
The Last Command!
Is this an unreleased interview?
Revere, Mass’s own!
I had VIP at a show once and when I looked around, LA Guns was standing right next to me. I wanted to tell them to eat. Steve was so thin!
Los Angeles Guns lead singer sounds a little bit like Steve Percy of Ratt.
Who
Jean Simmons and 80's Metal Recycle Bin? No way, the AI is out of control, it must be trained on "Gene Simmons", KISS ya :-)
Steve Riley was not the greatest drum in the world. But he was the Only drummer in world for l a guns
Is he sitting underneath a tree? His hair keeps dripping...wtf?

I never liked LA guns, because of the vocalist… And the sleaze scene was a joke… Faster Pussycat was a joke.
Nice post for a memorial tribute video???

I liked him in WASP but i liked Frankie Banali better
