I loved how the old version looked on my X-E2, sharpness was great, colors too but the damn flares ruined for me. I had 2 versions one from 2021 and one from 2023 both flaring like crazy, even got 5 types of hoods for it. It seems this one is the same, what a shame. I hope people really understand what they are getting before buying
@@brandonteel505 It depends, I own most of the TTs lenses and generally they are a great pick. The only one that for me at least is never completely in focus and has some flaring issues (but not as bad as the pergear) is the tt 50mm f2. The 27 2.8, 35 1.4 and 0.95, 50 1.2 awesome lenses. As for 7artisans I only have the 60mm macro and it's also great quality for the money.
I have the second version of the Pergear 25mm f1.7 and agrees with everything you said! The lens flare kills it for me. I’m seriously considering returning it. I cannot use it in any back lite situation for portraits and it’s just too bad coz it doesn’t have some very unique characteristic
Hi Tudor. I have been really enjoying your videos. And yes, I have Subscribed and given you Thumb's Up on most of your videos. I just received my Pergear 25 (mostly based on your recommendation). I bought a lens hood and plan to take the lens on my T5 out for a spin tomorrow. Shooting inside with Focus Peaking has been easy and my indoor shots have mostly nailed the focus. I'll let you know how it goes.
Went out this morning and took some shots. Used the hood and took multiple photos with the lens wide open and closed to 4 and 5.6. Did both color and B&W's. You were totally right. Great photos. No flare with the hood even wide open and back lit. My first manual experience was a success and a good deal of fun. Thank you so much, Tudor.
Your comment about indoor results intrigues me. I have one camera, and x30, but I would like to reserve it for outdoor use and buy an X-E2 and this 25/1.7 lens for indoor use, where noise can be a problem on a small-sensor like an x30. Now that you've had more time to spend with this lens, how would you rate it for indoor use at F 2.8? Indoor use at f/4? With and without a hood?
Hello sir i appreciate your efforts and love your channel. I was trying to watch one of your membership videos but couldn’t find a join button to access. Kindly let me know how its done!
The zone focusing I said is not ideal. You have a true infinity point, but the hyperfocal distance is 3.97 m at f11 - it's working ok like this. The workaround is to prefocus the lens at the desired distanced and after that shoot it.
I was waittng for your really wonderful lens review! I'm really concidering to exchange my Ttartisan 23mm f1.4 to Pergear25mmf1.7 now. Maybe not need to exchange to this lens? I shoot"daily life[indoor & outdoor],Dog & Portraits & Flower & City Scape" Still i like my Ttartisan23mmf1.4 But recently I'm bothering TT23mm a little for contrast[strong?!] & color rendaring[bit different] & Operability[thin aperture ring & lose feeling click aperture ring] Could you give me some advice?
I feel that the Pergear 25mm is better than the 23mm TTArtisan indeed - the only downside is the strong flare at f1.7 and lack of contrast caused by reflection of light... If you know how to control that it will work for you... Other than that is a much better lens from my point of view... Personally I like the Pergear lens more, but TTArtisan has more predictable results (flare and contrast are well controlled)... You need to test to see how it works for you...
i just received the pergear lens today after one month waiting, everything looks good but unfortunately it cannot fit in my xt5, it is too tight that i cant even turn .The item does not mount on my camera correctly
@@Tudor_Mateescu Thanks! I'm only an amateur but I really enjoy photography. I'll be using the lens on a Sony A5000 and I'm hoping this lens will allow me to take better product photos. The Products are reasonably large in a confined space. Do you think I will see much difference from a 30mm lens?

How do these compare to other affordable manual focus lenses? I have a few TTartisan etc., are these better?

Enjoyed the video. Nice small and not costly. Could be some, when adding a lenshood . How about a zone focusing video in addition to manual focus?

I didn't use it - but both are good lenses.

Thank you very much😊
Which lens hood can I use for Pergear 25 1.7?
You need a lens hood for 37 mm filter size.

Very strange, probably a defective product if it shows it's X-Mount. Send it back and ask for a replacement or refund.
Hi!, I have the same concern, do you asked for a replacement ?
@@jbmg7531 they send me the bayonet and i change it myself in the end
👍
I have one ordered and awaiting delivery. Very excited to get it and try it out!
Hope you enjoy it!
