  • Here is a video on one of my French gems - the Renault 10. While I am a massive American and Australian car fan, I also do like my European cars. The French in particular have made some lovely cars. I would still like to buy a Panhard one day. Anyway, something different. There will also be another Falcon video out very soon. Please give the ole Renault a 👍Like👍 asit doesn’t cost a thing and helps the channel. Please also Subscribe if you haven’t already. Thanks for watching. 👍

    Yeah, these are cool cars Mark, nice find. Reckon they designed it to drive either way. I liked Renaults as a kid, my uncle always had them & Citroens. He had a rule: 'when it breaks, disconnect it'.

    Renault 10 was my first car. After that, everything seemed so simple and I was not daunted when I later became interested in old Citroens and Mercs.
    I managed to blow a head gasket. The glass bottle expansion tank exploded with the pressure and showered the car behind me with coolant and broken glass presumably.
    The little flap on the outer corners of the dash are ar vents.
    You didn't notice the ashtray in the middle of the crash pad.
    The grab handles on the doors are handy for pulling the door shut.
    Otherr peoples experiences might be different, but I always found the plenum chamber to be the biggest concern when it came to possible rust areas. Make sure the drain stays clean of debris.
    The boot upfront might seem small, but we did fit a 180cm tall guy in the front one time when we'd run out of seats. He made a grand entrance when we arrived at a party when he popped the hood and climbed out.
    Enjoy your new toy!

    Hi Mark very rare car, on the roads in Wales,over the years they might have been scraped and rusted away, can't remember the last time I've seen one of these on the road, I bet it's rare in Australia. I think you got a good find there, like you said the petrol filler under the bonnet above the distributor cap I wouldn't like to fill it up with the engine running. you got a nice care there. As always a great video Take care

    • @markbehr88
      @markbehr88  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks Shaun. Yes, they are few and far between on the roads these days. I think they sold a few in the USA too, however, I am sure they are thin on the ground there too and I am not sure I would have liked driving in a see of full size American cars that were probably belting along back in the day (although the Beetle was big there too). 👍

    I love quirky European cars like this. A totally different world to the cars of today. I wish we saw more of these around. I guess it's either impractical to keep them going, for many people, or too expensive- or people just want to 'keep up with the Joneses! A shame. My parents had a Renault 12 from memory. Good, reliable cars- this was in the early 1980s. Nice one mate!

    Having the petrol filler right beside the ignition like that seems crazy , but the French have been known to be a bit quirky , like , in the sixties making it a rule for cars competing at Le Mans that they must have a horn, and a spare wheel and jack, and probably enough space for a picnic basket.

    Ah, a 'Funny French'... quirky was an accepted part of the experience. The R10 was basically a rebodied Dauphine, though technically the Dauphine was succeeded by the Renault 8, then the 10. Hey Mark. Lovely looking car. For some reason, French cars never sold well here in the USA. I think it varied from model to model, but I think Renault and Citroen were the worst selling models. Damned if I know why. I've had some say they were poorly built. I've had some say other factors. I think the biggest problem was the lack of a dealer network and a service network to keep them on the road.
