Thancred and Ranjit and VAUTHRY. It has angel wings and does light attacks as well as fire and thunder. Why does everyone always miss that

After Thancred, Lahabred, Edgecred and Dadcred, we finally get Ranjitcred.
Y'know, it took looking at this comment to realize that Lahabred is supposed to be a portmanteau of Thancred and Lahabrea, and not, well, some kind of mocking name to liken an Ancient to baked goods.

@@cameronwilsey9334 Probably unrelated, but if you listen to ARR Titan's Phase 1 theme it's pretty similar to Zanza's Phase 1 theme.
Like I said, probably unrelated, but it is a detail I feel should be more noticed if only for novelty sake.

It's a well chosen soundtrack. In both games it plays in a fight against a character's absolute ideal of strength, conjured from their mind.
A Fusion of Sineaters, Ranjit, and Thancred all in one. Not gonna lie, didn't see that coming, but it was a welcome one.
Think the Sin Eater bit's meant to be Vauthry.
Innocence, to be precise.
Well its the manifestation of her fears... And Thancred for a time was a fear for her. And so was Ranjit when they were on the run. Vauthry and sin eaters are pretty much a given.

It's a really nice touch that the map also looks a lot like the dungeons of Eulmore since Ryne spent a long time in it

This fight was so fun and love the soundtrack!
The OST is from Final Fantasy VIII, and is named "The Legendary Beast". You can hear this, during the second phase of the final boss fight.
I got tired of hearing Ryne sensing a surge in the ether in savage prog.

Hoping something like this comes along on 6.0. Would be super cool if they used some of these mechanics as a springboard for future GNB
We do use Fire, Lightning, and Explosion attacks, albeit on a much smaller scale :(

This entire Raid is an Homage to the entirety of the final boss fight in all of its 4 parts from FFVIII
Cloud of Darkness = Ultimecia Base Form
Shadowkeeper = Griever
The Fatebreaker = Ultimecia/Griver Fusion
Eden Promise/Oracle of Darkness = Ultimecia Final Form

The Ranjit fight we deserved :3
He fusion danced with Thancred as well. Dont forget they both were her protectors at one point. The reason why Ranjit was so crazy is because he watched her die before. And it broke him. So he smothered her and refused for her to grow and do what must be done. Poor guy.
@@GhostWulf70792 Thancred was the LEAST bit involved with Ryne pre-Minfilia defusion (because of how much she resembled his late love). Contrasting that, Ran'jit was the MOST involved with her, given that she resembled his departed daughters.
It's essentially a paternal yin-yang - both philosophical extremes were played to here.
@@AshramIndustries thancred didn't love minfilia romantically. she was basically his ward and they shared platonic bond. he confirms it a few times in the game.
It’s Innocence, Thancred and Ranjit. Pretty much the three people who she fears the most;
Her jailor and his master, and her father figure when he did not care for her, as she was a means to an end
@@spencerdurette2859 i like to believe that thancred is not part of fatebreaker as a negative component, unlike innocence and ranjit. ryne says this enemy was born from her hopes and fears and how i see it is that thancred represents her hopes and ranjit and innocence her fears. when ryne became her own person and minfilia disappeared, thancred accepted it and moved on, there would be no reason to try and use this now long resolved problem of the past against ryne or anyone. i think that if mitron was able to gather all this info from rynes memories then he mustve also seen that this isnt a problem anymore

3, there's some Vauthry in there as well, reflected in the elemental trio. GNB for Lightning and Thancred, Ranjit and his Dragon for Fire, and the angelic wings and Light for Vauthry. Given Ryne spent so much time jailed in Eulmore, it makes sense.

The only thing I will remember from this fight is "I sense a surge in aether"
This fight on day 1 was the embodiment of a bad time.
It was no better a few days later when I had to *heal* it. The fact that I knew what to expect did not change the fact that most of the rest of the group didn't.
this boss is formed from Ryne's memories, so it's like a mix Thancred's face and weapon, but General Ranjit's armor

Been waiting like 20 years for Legendary Beast to make it into a mainstream rework. Actually though, whenever I would listen to it I lamented that it wasn't in anything. When Eden was announced and was FF8-inspired my *very first* reaction was I hope Legendary Beast is in the last tier! So man, I was pretty excited. It's been a long time coming.
Legendary Beast probably gets more play in FF14 than in 8.

The Legendary Beast is extremely underrated and underappreciated, not to mention that it's also underused in FF8 like what DracoSuave explained. It's one of my favourite tracks if not my favourite Uematsu's work in FF8.
I heard this theme and literally screamed in voice chat! Felt like a 15yr old all over again staying up late in my room on school nights, fighting against Griever 😭😭😭

YES! So much yes! This is even better than FF8's version!
Too bad FF8 mucked the song's timing though. For some reason, someone thought it was a good idea to not have the song start until Griever used Shockwave Pulsar. Even when I wasn't overpowered, I still killed him too fast. I literally had to stall the fight so I didn't kill him before he used the attack and not as a final attack.
Suggestion for the new nickname for this guy

From what this boss looks like its a fusion of Thancred, Ranj'it, Innocence, The final boss of mount gulg(for the legs), the dragon being fused with Hraesvalgr, and the last reference being the bottom horns of his outfit which I believe is a reference to Greiver from FF8.
There is a lot going on with this design and fight but its becoming my personal favorite of the tier.
Yeeeah no. It's just Thancred and Ran'jit as a Sin Eater. The lower legs as well as the scaly bits are from Ran'jit's transformed state and the dragon is a sin eater version of Guakamatz.
The entire boss is Ryne's memories specifically. I think you're not giving it enough credit if you think the design is just as basic as that.
@@mcadogan629 The fight takes place in the gaol she spent most of her life in and the creature speaks with Thancred's voice, but talks exactly like Ran'jit. He doesn't use any of Innocence's powers because by the time she saw him, the Warrior of Darkness already beat him
