It's improved, but it still has a long way to go. As long as Western media keeps pushing negative Asian male stereotypes, it will continue to hold us back. Asians need more solidarity like some other minority groups.

I'm 46 year old Asian male. In HS I was pretty much invisible. I hit the gym when I started college, my confidence and self worth improved. The window opened up for me with different races (majority Latina). Looking back, it's more the confidence and personality that attributed to my change. Being Asian was a secondary thing to the girls. Even at 46 I still get looks from girls much younger than me.
You were the beta male until you hit them weights 😂. Good 👍 job. But always remember whats real will always be there in the end dont change your character and physiques to fit in. Happiness is something that should come naturally.
@JTXBUFFY At around our age group its all about being happy for the remainder of our lives lol. Caring about how people/society thinks of you how they view you and say about you was back in the teenager/young adult days. Just like how this video doesn't validate anything for me doesn't define asian males in american society and the world as a whole.

There is a lot of internal racial hate from Asian women. When I was in Thailand, almost every Asian girl would flock to non-Asian men and they would ignore all Asian men. Only when I spoke to them and having perfect English did they even consider engaging in conversation since they knew I was an America and not a local Thai.
I'm a 52 year old asian dude and you young dudes have it easy compared to when I was young. Even an old dude like me is doing pretty good in dating nowadays. Don't slack off. Get out there.
Yup, back in our days bro we were viewed as either nerds or gangsters, gullible or feared. Dating a non-Asian girl did not even cross my mind because that was simply impossible or at least extremely unlikely to happen.
CMB data isn't typical. Most users are Asian, with 80% being Asian males, so naturally, they get the majority of the likes. Instead of looking at total likes by race, the ratio of being liked back or likes per person might give a clearer picture. But I do agree, dating life is improving for Asian males.
True, I think that data doesn't make sense as white men still seem to be seen as the most attractive. I think Asian men have become number 2 though or on par with Hispanic looking men.
@@goodbad-boy Not for me it ain’t… lol I have the highest response rate on CMB. The only reason I gave up on it and switched to Hinge is cause CMBs app is terrible. Hinge has been pretty good too but not as good as CMB. I bet if I tried the same test again I’d get a different results. So it all depends on the timing, and the city you live one There are surges and dips in any app
No that's bullshit. They released their demographic data and asian people make up around 40% which is alot but that also means asian men make up 25% of that amount
The reason asian men do very on CB is because its a serious dating app, and asian on average where 25% more likely to put down ''looking for a serious relationship'', they also spent 18% more time on the app than any other group. So, in essence CB is a more traditional dating service, the women on CB (unlike tinder) are actually looking for a relationship rather than a hookup. And asian men are looking for the same more than any other group. so asian men do much better there, which is great!
I actively avoided dating apps for years and tried to meet women irl. After years of fruitlessness, I signed up for Coffee Meets Bagel and within a year I met my now wife.
It has happened to Asians, the same thing that happened to Latinos in the past with the “Latin Lover” stereotype. In the case of Asians, it is largely driven by Kpop and Kdrama. I just think this romanticization is kind of dangerous, and this applies to any ethnic group.
I do admit that there is an element of risk-averseness in Asian parenting, because part of filial piety requires making parents feel secure, which discourages risk taking as it may make parents feel insecure, and in case of failure, make them feel ashamed
I’m not even Asian, yet I’m hooked. You guys are very naturally entertaining and I’ve always been interested in other cultures, but the Asian cultures were ones that I didn’t hear a lot of information on. Almost like a mystery. Keep the videos coming please. 👍
As an Asian-American, I use to feel underrated when it comes to this type of stuff, but now looking back I’m actually glad that I was over seen, and it doesn’t bother me anymore. I just do me and my own thing. Keeping it 💯 #iykyk
I am asian american and been married to my latina wife for 23 years. We recently went to mexico for mission trip and many asking my wife how it was married to a korean, so much more interest than it was 10 years ago.
I think like most forms of racism, we need to have two thoughts in our head at the same time: 1) Yes, things have gotten better for Asian men on the dating scene 2) It's still not perfect and we still have a long way to go We need to be able to appreciate the progress we've made while still trying to push to make the world even better. 60 years ago interracial marriage of all kinds was explicitly illegal in the US; getting interracial marriage legalized was a huge step forward, but wasn't as if people woke up the next day and everything was fixed and there was no more racism in America. One step at a time. We've taken several steps forward for Asian men, but we're done climbing yet, at the same time.
Im no social scientist but the youth culture was definitely the most favorable to asians and asian males in late 2021 and especially early to mid 2022. That was the real rise of asian masculinity imo, without the signs of insecurity and pretense of asian americans beforehand. After that the old culture kind of flared back, around when andrew tate blew up. I think its still that way but I see signs of it washing away recently. All I can say is the more redpill-ish and netflix emo vintage style people and social cultures are, the more hostile to asian guys. While the more "tiktok" like and generally the less alternate & nerdy the social atmosphere is, the more favorable to asian guys. A strong pattern I've seen.
@MichaelWadhwania who you? Everyone knows about our cultural fusion. My family Is from st Elizabeth it's common. I'm from Montego Bay I know many mixed kids
i know that one race of women who always gave love to the asian dudes were black women. I remember David Choe once said the same thing, saying how in the dating pool the LEAST desirable to date in each gender was Asian males and Black females, respectively.
This is why I never sweat the game, I knew time for Asian men to shine would eventually come thru. Right now our light skin Asians are getting love, soon it'll be the southeast dark guys too.
Some southeast Asians are really pale. As a Filipino I have fair skin. 🇵🇭I hope my South Asian brothers and sister succeed as well and I’m talking about countries like INDIA 🇮🇳.
People weren't racist in the past. Asian men, especially East Asian men are just shy. You need to approach white girls if you want to date them, and you need to be able to socialize with them. As a Vietnamese guy, white girls approach me all the time.
How does it feel to have all the tech CEO's in the west being Indian? 5 million strong diaspora in the USA and one of the largest and fastest growing global diasporas on the planet? JD Vance's wife Usha, Vivek, Tulsi, etc.? Chad and upper level genes Indian men can easily get hot white women. Of course the really ugly guys are stuck at the bottom, but that's true of all races
That's funny since in the U.S indian men are married 10k more then Indian women but for east asians the women are married 500k more then the men so there's a huge difference between east asian guys and Indian guys, which shows that East asian guys have problems getting women in general. Also where's the proof that east asian men are "moving up" as a whole, using specific examples doesn't prove what the situation is in general.
🤔 so you gotta put down other Asians to make yourself feel better ? East Asians are in more developed countries so is southeast Asians aren’t really out here worrying about media and culture.

@youtubeguest5494 I'm not saying there hasn't been great athletes from Asia, I'm saying the popularity of the TV show made Western audiences pay more attention. Yes and it's called soft power. China does have soft power but it is not welcomed in wRacist Murika. I mean, look how impressive the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics was. No one can top that. And right now, we have Tik Tok taking over the other apps where they're trying really hard to ban and the EV automobile and mobile industry where they won't allow to step foot here. Thank you kpop, kdrama, Steven yuen, Simi Liu and many others in the early days. But these 4 folks stand out the most initially. Glad there's alot more Asian figures in Hollywood media than who we started with
Said myboyfriend (now husband) is Asian, people lost their minds negatively… now some of those same people are like “does he have a brother?“ brahhh 👀 😅😂
I think it has something to do with the apps' algorithms being racist against Asian men, and I think that was gradually corrected, and after Hollywood released Crazy Rich Asians and other films favorable to Asian men, it definitely helped for Asian men, and with the increasing popularity of Kpop music, that also boosted the appeal for Asian men.
Watching the local news in a town with significant Asian population, half are black, half are white (or hispanic), not a single Asian news person. If not for the internet, Asian men would still be seen as "hey hot stuff" Dong.
We're taking about frequency and being talked about and being desired, and considered as an option. Do you want to keep hearing yt/blk/Hispanic/Arab men and ASIAN women talking shit about East Asian men? It's EVERYONE vs Asian men.
You're describing the overwhelming majority of the Western women out there. They don't have a mind of their own. They're all a part of a hivemind. Whichever way the wind blows, that's the direction they're going in regardless of what their personal feelings are on the matter. Women ONLY care about perception. Wake up, man.
I think you're making a spurious correlation between media representation and dating outcomes. I'm not saying it's not an influence, but having more Asian male faces in Hollywood doesn't necessarily mean women IRL will suddenly be more open-minded if they weren't already considering Asian men as potential suitors before. Did some cursory research on CMB, and apparently it's only available in metropolitan cities like SF, Boston, and NYC? Not sure you can really extrapolate the data to dating patterns in other American cities, especially in more rural areas with very few Asians. If I had to guess, I would assume most non-Asian women would be open to the idea of dating an Asian guy, but the biggest barrier pertains to Asian men being more reserved in terms of making sexual advances. Since women generally don't approach or make the first move, they occupy the passive role of vetting their incoming options. Asian men are probably shooting their shot at a fraction of men of other races.
As an Asian man, growing up, dating was easy for me. Dated all kinds of women, white, latina, black, asian, European... 90% of people still to this day, mistake me for Japanese...I'm like bruh, I'm full filipino 😂.
Now Asian men have become the number one most desired men. I also noticed that Asian men who are in relationships with non Asian women are much happier and have healthier relationships.
Like Andrew said, they want commitment and cute and softer masculinity than the average American. Asian K-pop idols and K-dramas display this so much. We wouldn't see them being fuckboys...
I've been active on the asian subreddit since I was 14 when everything I heard about dating as an asian men was terrible with all the Lu's and Trans making it worst for us to get not just Asian girls but girls of all races. Safe to say 10 years later, dating hasn't been hard at all as long as you strive to make the best version of yourself. For gen Z, dating is just as hard as men of other races imo.
I feel like Asian American men are the least likely to have children due to having an incredibly difficult time finding a partner in the past. Now these single, childless Asian men who focused on themselves and made money, are sought after by the women(now with kids and baggage) who turned them down way back when. I’m a single mom magnet and while I appreciate the advances, I don’t want kids or step kids. I’ve no problem with casual though. I want to thank the women who’ve ignored me and rejected me in the past for allowing me to be the best possible version of myself with even more room to grow.
In my view asian men facing all these tough time and tough environment and tough attitude for them but still manage to rise , I call this a racial supermacy. I even think that is because asian men are actually very sexy no matter which field so the white boy feel insecure so to break down asian men confidence by being racist
The current generation of young Asian men are richer, taller, and better looking ...than my generation... the bar is higher still given K pop's influencers. I just hope they are smarter, wiser, and better negotiators than my generation.
It has gotten better for me on CMB, but honestly it is a mixture of many things. For one i am older so i feel i am more desirable because most likely one has their shit together by now. The other thing is online is the norm now so most people have to use the app. Finally dating in general is toxic filled with uncommitted. So yes overall more matches, but better matches? Probably not. Better for asian representation? Probably but not only due to asian representation (the pull part) but also because toxic dating culture (the push part)
Nothing to do with stereotypes, but with physical attraction. Musclinity, height, face, eye colors are things that are more important to women than men.
As a Vietnamese/Chinese American Asian Man 1st generation in US in his late 30s, I have recently married my American/American that sounds like a white woman in her early 30s. I do agree that I've seems a lot positive Asian male representation on the screen more often vs 10 years ago. It is day and night different. Over my dating career, I did have a lot more "luck" with black women, than latin, asian then white.
It seems to me like certain Eastern Europe countries were always more accepting of Asian dudes. I visited Poland around 9 years ago. This was before the rise of KPop in the Western audience. I received more attention than usual from Polish women. I was in Poland because a friend invited me on his trip there to visit his Polish wife's family. Her best friend was also getting married so I got to attend the wedding. Many of the single Polish girls were pulling me to dance with them. They wanted me to drink Vodka with them too.
It's definitely easier for Asian guys these days but it depends on where you are. In Canada, it wasn't too much of a problem for me. I'm a bit taller than most Asian guys and mostly looked really fit in my younger years. Had dates and stares from beautiful women. Don't walk around with achip on your shoulder. Just go out and be confident and don't take dating too seriously.
It makes me feel better for my son as he is a second generation Asian American. The trend is positive, but surveys are surveys, in reality I'm still not seeing a lot of Asian guy and non-Asian girl couples out there.
There's a difference between being diligent and being a nerd. They are mutually exclusive things. Being nerd doesn't guarantee any measure of financial security. But being hardworking does. And security leads to success. And success leads to confidence. And projecting real confidence is key in dating for dudes.
It just keeps getting better and better. Imagine how invisible Asian men were from the 1920s-1980s compared to now! Interracial marriage wasn't even allowed for the majority of that time period.
I have a question Fungbros , do you think us Asian guys are losers who cry about Asian women’s Choices??? I think we should stop talking about yellow fever or Asian women and whatever , remember communities fall short when people don’t appreciate each other or talk down on each. Like the African American community, the women talk bad about the men and the men talk bad about the women. We are so fortified so people want in the community more so.
Compared to the early 2000's it's a night and day difference. But it's still difficult. Asian guy with another race used to be very rare. Today, I wouldn't use the word common but you see it a lot more. I think it's because of kpop/anime/kdrama/asian influencers/youtubers.
@@Baphomet-bk7cx I'm not surprise about Europe as I think they are more open minded compared to America. The Korea example doesn't really count. Any white girl in Korea doesn't have much choice to date Korean. That's all there is. But the fact that they're in Korea means they like the culture.
@@tgo007 I just replied your words about typing "Asian guy with another race is rare". Yeah it's rare in the US but the world it's not only America lol. You can't just expect the media to improve your image. You have to work on yourself: fitness, fashion, finances, personality, etc. Once you look the complete opposite of the media stereotype of an Asian male, women can finally tell you apart and give you some attention
Azn men shouldn't need to do that to get attention. Do you think Azn women need to do that? Or white boys? You could be an obese Azn chick or mid-balding white guy and still make out like a bandit lol
The problem is that a lot of the Asian male doomers use the anti-Asian stereotypes as an excuse to not fix themselves. This is literally the same toxic mindset of white incels who blame all their problems on feminism
Naw. A majority of asian males tend to date/marry and breed their own species because it's been instilled in them it's an expectation from the asian species it's kind of like a duty. And asian males are less attractive and less appealing because they hold onto their culture and beliefs and have not yet allowed western influences western culture to completely dominate them and asian culture and influences is different from the west and the west is much more modernized compared to the east. As asian males progress and keeps assimilating to western culture asian males will look more common and have more in common with whites and blacks. The human species tend to go for commonness because commonness secures their faith and trust and confidence. Asian females on the other hand I think it all started after world war 2 when white men came to the asian continent to spread western influences like freedom democracy and to combat and oppose the differences which created hate and genocide which made asians percieved white men as the super hero and life saver. And asian females with white males is more like asian females gets the beta white males ive never seen an asian female with an alpha white male. Asian female is overhyped because white girls and some light skinned white mixed with black girls are the best looking and most attractive. And the asian female white male couple is exegerated western culture does a lot of exegeration too as eastern culture is mor humble.
Oddly enough, there are more Asian players in hockey than one might expect. Jason Robertson (half Filipino) is one of the elite players in the NHL right now.
I disagree with #2 also isn't coffee meets bagel are mostly Asian men? And catered towards Asian men dating? During my time as a single Asian man my luck was not the best, and this was about 2 years ago, also I think it's more Koreans that women are interested. What also blows my mind is when Asian women say they won't date Asian men because it's like dating their "brother"
It's wild how muchedia Influences things. I swear if all the rooms and super hero movies pushed short guys.they would be popular with women within 5 years
Good to know! As Asian guys' popularity increases I hope there will be more and more oportunities for their--and everyone else's--dating and marriage statistics to even out--hopefully trans-racially to strengthen the human genome and of course eliminate "racial" tensions in the long run. BTW, even though China happens to be viewed unfavorably or mostly unfavorably due to clashes of perceived nartional interests (77%), As of Feb 2024 Japan is currently viewed favorably or mostly favorably by 83% of Americans. For South Korea, 72%; Taiwan, 77%; and even Vietnam--whom we fought and lost a war with and which continues to be viewed negatively by many Vietnamese Americans--was still rated more favorably than unfavorably (43% to 39%). Anyway, note that given the popularity of Taiwan--as well as other Asian "allied" countries--most Americans are not basing their opinions on what has often been portrayed falsely as "Asian hate." Yes, race hatred does exist towards all races on a certain scale--including hatred of whites--but I would posit that "racial" hatred or prejudice is lower in the U.S. than in many Asian countries themselves.
East Asians are still not part of the popular culture in the West. Kpop and Kdrama, maybe popular on the web but it's not integrated into mainstream Western culture like Black culture is. It still feels like a foreign import because that's what it is.
Does it really matter though? Black American pop culture is killin' it, but it's not like it's helping black people dominate the dating world. Like, I'm very into hip hop/rap since I was in high school, but there was never a point in my life that it made me consider wanting to date a black girl. You know what I mean?
@@ponuni I know what you mean because becoming popular does not necessarily make you more physically attractive. It just helps to break down cultural barriers, so that interracial relationships become less taboo.
The amount of women being attracted to asian guys after being exposed to attractive asians from kpop, kdrama, or other American films/shows has def increased significantly. And it’s something I noticed a lot in real life too
@@what3899 It's not all what you think though. When I asked females in the comment section of the BTS music video Dynamite, if they are sexually attracted to the group members. The common response was: "no, we just like them because they're cute" It's like females see them as cute puppy dogs but would not sleep with them. However the masculine attractive Asian males have always been attractive but only recently given exposure, so it's not surprising that more Western females are searching them out. So I agree with you that some Asian males are receiving more attention from Western females but how much of that attraction is superficial?
@@tommyh4116 I think it just depends on the group, there are a lot of different ones and some are seen as more attractive while others are seen as just more cute. But yea physical attraction is superficial in general, although thats how dating starts for most people
Hold on...The shift is related to the change in generation. 10 years removed, you have a lot. of people getting married...travelling....eventually, people discover other things than dating and usually, they stop using apps for one reason or another. The people using aps today have grown up with KPOP (and other content that exposes asian cultures to non-asians as a normal thing)..they are more comfortable with the asian culture..because women don't like us because we are asian..they didn't like us because of the culture they did not understand...that's why there was so much difficulty. Dudes..as a genx asian..I have so much wisdom to give 8). If you're interested, I would love to come on a podcast.
CMB don't count because all of the non-mainstream/non-hot women and/or wholesome or conservative girls who look for "real relationships" are on there. It's a common attitude towards the app so you'll fine more genuine people sure. But you 100% will not find down to earth that are mainstream-hot. But can't have your cake and eat it too.
Omg all this is making me wanna try it, I've only ever used bumble, tinder, OkCupid and tantan where I had some success.
I think like most forms of racism, we need to have two thoughts in our head at the same time:
1) Yes, things have gotten better for Asian men on the dating scene
2) It's still not perfect and we still have a long way to go
We need to be able to appreciate the progress we've made while still trying to push to make the world even better.
You need to thanks to korea Without them you e at the botto.
Coffee Meets Bagels isn't representative at all of dating apps in USA. Asian guys get a lot of matches there because 50%+ of their userbase is Asian.
They acknowledged that.
Yep. The data is there for one app. What you do or how you feel about it...is up to you! Maybe it's encouraging and maybe it doesn't mean much *shrug*

It's still an improvement, so what ur logic? Improve still not happy?
Really? I guess that's why 4/5 women I met on that app were Asian. Funny enough the 1 who wasn't Asian was black and she is the one I married.

At the end of the day do you really want to date a woman who gets her views of the cultures from just media?
We're taking about frequency and being talked about and being desired, and considered as an option. Do you want to keep hearing yt/blk/Hispanic/Arab men and ASIAN women talking shit about East Asian men? It's EVERYONE vs Asian men.
You're describing the overwhelming majority of the Western women out there. They don't have a mind of their own. They're all a part of a hivemind. Whichever way the wind blows, that's the direction they're going in regardless of what their personal feelings are on the matter. Women ONLY care about perception. Wake up, man.
Everyone is impacted by what they see. That's why advertisers pay big money to get their product seen by the most amount of people.
When I was in school, I was basically invisible. Glad to see the scene is changing for the younger generation. 😎😎🎉🎉
Yup, Asian guys are just not as outgoing compared to other guys.

I’m a 45 year old Latina dating my first Asian 💛
I think Asian men are handsome. Always have.
Go for latinas and hispanic girls. Love em mayne
As a BM, I've yet to have any such luck. Don't blow it fella's!😮
It makes me feel better for my son as he is a second generation Asian American. The trend is positive, but surveys are surveys, in reality I'm still not seeing a lot of Asian guy and non-Asian girl couples out there.
It's gotten a bit better but still needs a lot of improvements.

Hey as a black man, I think it's a new century for the Asian brothers when it comes to the ladies, and I support 100.

The people using aps today have grown up with KPOP (and other content that exposes asian cultures to non-asians as a normal thing)..they are more comfortable with the asian culture..because women don't like us because we are asian..they didn't like us because of the culture they did not understand...that's why there was so much difficulty. CMB don't count because all of the non-mainstream/non-hot women and/or wholesome or conservative girls who look for "real relationships" are on there.
