Crossing the Mozambique-Tanzania border

In 2010 we spent a month travelling up the Mozambique coast, eventually coming to the Tanzanian border at a very remote border post. The extreme NE corner of Moz is very, very remote, and we were travelling by public transport.

What time of the year were you travelling? Is it realistic to go from Pemba to Mtwara in two days?
