So many bittersweet memories with this song. I basically listened to this album on repeat when my mom was in the ICU diagnosed with an inoperable malignant brain tumor and given a month at best to live. This song always brings me back to waking up early on the hospital room benches while she was still asleep, putting my headphones in and listening to Diary front to back while walking through the hospital and across the street in the chilly morning weather to buy us both a coffee from a nearby cafe. She's been gone for a while now, and Diary always makes me think of her, but there are a lot of pleasant feelings that come with all the melancholy at the same time. Music is a crazy thing.

This was the song for Sunny Day’s start. Knew the drummer who was trying out for them for this one,got to see a practice once ….
“You taste it! You taste it! When you die…” ❤ emo..we’re a special type of human
Honestly been lookin for this song about 25 years after seeing it on mtv2.. mark from blink 182 had it in his playlist.. but I never caught the band or song name..i couldnt fathom any lyrics to sesrch for it lol.. as people have said it seems common to not know the lyrics for this band. So glad I found it after all this time
I remember this being on Alternative Nation and 120 minutes when MTV was relevant. At least 26 years ago.
1994.
most dynamic bass in an indie bass of all time, my fave band to play as a dj in college
"are you emo?"
"no."
"so why you're listening to Sunny Day Real Estate"
'..."
me to myself
No whey 😂
Really regretting missing these guys when they came to NY. Hope I have the opportunity to see them again. This song rules.
An under appreciated band
My bass teacher knows Dan. Now that is awesome. :)
Congrats
My favorite 90s alternative rock song of all time. This Era of music was absolutely the best to me. Hip hop was awesome too. The nostalgia feels great.
i just discovered this band 2 or 3 days ago and i already liked them as much as my favorite bands
I remember seeing them at Bumbershoot 94' in Seattle. They were crazy good. Crap, Im old!
this is one of the greatest things to grace this, or any other planet. Thank you SDRE.
So I'm seeing a lot of hate down in the comments…I'll admit I came here from the Onision video, but I had heard of them before, and honestly, they're pretty damn good. They're pretty much the epitome of 90s emo/indie or whatever you wanna call it, which was definitely a high point of music. So I'd like to thank Onision for showing me this pretty awesome band.
I searched "emo band album cover with Playmobils" to find this band.
Best comment lmfao
*about as under rated as smoking*
It worked though thats what counts.
I checked this band thanks to South Park
No you didnt
So glad these guys are touring later this year. :)
This record protects me, and makes me face reality and time. Good and bad.
After first seeing this video, I looked for it on a family vacation. I found the pink album, thinking "8" was the song I heard. It's a number lol. Been a huge fan ever since!
I was taking up the drums the first time I heard this song. When I was done listening, I thought
_I am going to teach myself how to play like THAT_
this just rocks....holds up.....timeless....
This always puts me in a good mood :)
opposite here although i love this song, it just always makes me draw upon memories id rather not think about
What is wrong with you????
I think it's pretty sad
Still the best album of the 90s!
Back when I was in med school, listen to this always makes me confuse but still attracted to the “vibe” as if this is drew your own conclusion regarding the song ha ha. And I love it even more as I became old and jaded somehow. 👍🏼
