Last year, The World Revolving was the #2 most requested song from the GaMetal Song Ballot. This year, I was sure to complete T.W.R. before making the 2020 ballot public, since I was already planning on doing it and knew it was likely to just pop back up in the top again.
For the second year in a row, Deltarune landed in the top 3 (alongside Battle of Award 42), this time with Chaos King.

I really liked the overarching themes in Undertale and all, but it definitely feels nice to actually _defeat_ a boss who had it coming.
Yeah, the moment i met Asgore all anticipation to get my ass kicked by a supposed tyrant, from the way Toriel describes him, got transformed into not wanting to do it, and just sadness.
FACTS
@@Duskool for me it was even before that, as more and more characters in the underground revealed Asgore's true nature long before you even met him in person. And in ways that didn't feel at all like a 'this tyrant would kill me if I said anything bad about him' thing either.
@@subprogram32 Well, Asgore was described as nice by the other monsters, but that's the thing, they're monsters, he may be nice to them, but he's gonna still attempt to kill me.
@@Duskool imo Asgore deserved an ass kicking. He, after all, could've gone with what Toriel suggested and never did because he was too much of a coward to just straight up kill humans out of the blue; and now not only 6 more unlucky humans(which would now become gradually more detached from the actual people that cast monsters out) would suffer but also many, MANY more monsters would too, for far longer mind you. Sure, there's the True Pacifist ending, but were it not for the creation of Flowey it would have never happened. So he had it coming too, for being a coward and further prolonging his people's suffering

Jonny's really smart with when he approaches songs. While everyone else jumps on the train immediately after some hit game comes out, he waits until the craze has died down and it's out of everyone's immediate memory, then pounces on the opportunity.

One thing I've noticed: Jonny hasn't even _touched_ the midboss battle themes from UNDERTALE,
meaning Ghost Fight, Dummy!, Spider Dance and Mad Mew Mew.
They're all remixes of the same song, too...

There’s plenty of other Undertale songs he hasn’t touched anyway, it’s just everyone pretty much stopped requesting Undertale after Deltarune came out. Besides, Spider Dance is the only one of those 4 that ever really had anyone caring about it anyway

King spade is a really sweet guy if ya’ll give him a chance
He acted out of hate cuz his past experience with the lightners ended badly,
And looking back on it now, he scolds his son saying “don’t get to attached” he just wants to prevent the tragedy that happened to him when he was young. Abandonment and hate
Also he’d never throw his son off a cliff, it was all a prank
He would, but as is later stated, Lancer is bouncy.
Regarding the "threat" to drop Lancer...
1.) When Susie called King out on that in Chapter 2, he says "Your prejudice made my bluff too effective, I see." He's essentially deflecting blame and saying the heroes made the situation seem worse than it actually was, absolving himself of any responsibility for what he did.
2.) He follows up this statement by saying even if he did drop Lancer, he'd just bounce, because he's "a bouncy little pumpkin". This suddenly cute description of Lancer can easily distract people from the fact that he's saying "not that I would do this bad thing, but if I did it wouldn't be THAT bad", which frankly, I find to be a poor rebuttal.
3.) Regardless of all that, this was still a traumatizing situation to put poor Lancer through. Regardless of whether or not Lancer "knew" his dad wouldn't drop him or that he'd survive if he did, King was still using Lancer's life to force his new friends into letting themselves get killed.
The way I see it, King is an abusive father, and an important thing to know is that abusive parents can still care about their children and be oblivious to their abuse. Regardless of what happened to King in the past with Lightners, that doesn't justify how he treats his son, in my opinion. As for the "he's a sweet guy if you give him a chance", that has to cut both ways; we don't know what exactly happened with King, maybe his hatred was somehow justified, but if he really is a nice guy deep down he's got to show that he is, and quite frankly, he hasn't been doing a good job at it so far.

I love how undertale showed every character was well, a character. They had good traits and flaws. There were more things to the characters than ‘this character bad.’ Deltarune then subverts the player’s expectation by having this one dimensional, stereotypical bad guy who isn’t endearing at all unlike Asgore (at least he was to me.) He even makes himself unlikable by threatening to kill his own son.
In my opinion Chaos King is a pretty interesting character compared to the other characters in undertale and deltarune
(Pre chapter 2) Yeah honestly I liked that he was more of a standard roadblock character than a "I'm not the bad guy waah wah" deal.
(Post chapter 2) King > Queen any day of the week.
Apparently tho, King used to be a nice guy before the Knight appeared, or else I'm pretty sure Lancer would be just terrified of his dad
Also, he said Lancer would just bounce if he dropped him (although that's still manipulation)
He's a villain a right, but the way he serves as a foil to the main cast while still having some motivation to justify his Carnage is what truly elevates him.

Jonny is definitely really clever when making his remixes. Instead of just remixing the song by itself he adds his own to the song that fits so perfectly too

Am I the only one who noticed the high difficulty jump from Chaos King to Cyber Queen?
According to Toby Fox in the Undertale 6th anniversary stream, he had other ideas for King's attacks, but he shelved them because King is technically the first boss of the game, and thus shouldn't be TOO hard to beat (Jevil is optional). Enemies in Deltarune Chapter 2, in general, are harder to fight, but to me it makes, it's a linear progression in difficulty, like most games are. But of course, your mileage may vary in terms of how difficult certain enemies or bosses are.

Don't get me wrong, you're one of my favorite musicians ever, but this song just does not work for me. I wish I could place why, but I just can't. What's odd is that the rest of Toby Fox's work is pretty great and I absolutely love your TWR, Undyne, and especially Hopes and Dreams/Save the World remixes, so it's not like it's Toby's style or your interpretation of it. Idk man

Just finished Paper Mario Origami King and you HAVE to remix the 1st area battle theme. I wish I could suggest boss themes, but the game hasn't been out for long enough and I don't want to spoil. This game is being shunned upon only for not being TTYD but this is a wonderful title (mind the Tutorials) with objects for bosses and default characters actually working IN ITS FAVOR. Intelligent Systems finally figured out the modern format. Bless em for those TRACKS though, my GOD.

•and the most random of them all, that one clock boss fight from “Epic Mickey”, I haven’t played the game in FOREVER, like 5 years, but the OST is pretty rad! While Disney can be kinda weird with their copyright it’s a video game remix so it might count but I’m not sure since the boss originated from it’d a small world, but hey if people use Ducktales OST all the time who knows, just might need to do research on that one.
