- Undertale returns to GaMetal with this tribute to Undyne the Undying: a dual remix of Spear of Justice AND Battle Against a True Hero!
This is Undertale remix #4 for myself, which is actually pretty low compared to a lot of people xD. Battle Against a True Hero has been one of the most requested Undertale songs these days, and I always said whenever I got around to it, I'd be throwing in Spear of Justice as well. The main reason being that Spear of Justice is probably my favorite Undertale song.
As an added bonus, I also threw in But the Earth Refused to Die as an interlude between the 2 songs. :D!

Nice to hear Undertale every once in a while. I think a good part of us are really happy you spread these out over time--- across the four covers there's a lot of growth demonstrated as well! :D

Honestly, the cover of “But The World Refused To Die” sounds like it could’ve fit on the Black Album (Metallica). Fantastic work, even if it’s three years old.

I think I know why you do the Sonic Plush thing for the Keyboard. I remember in a Q&A once you said something about not liking the keyboard, so it probably takes a longer time to get down, and maybe you just so happened to get it perfectly while the camera wasn't recording.

I loved spear of justice, but tbh battle against a true hero is so much better to me. It really fits the game though, spear of justice gives off strength and brute force, while spear of justice screams desperation and determination

Ah, so the team who made the most bad ass remix of the Koopalings theme and who cares enough about the SNES to make a remix on Lufia 2 is finally making an remix on the legendary fish Undyne. Nice job.
One of the reasons undyne the undying is my favorite boss in the game is for that music. Battle against a true hero makes you feel powerful and guilty for what you’ve done but you know there is no turning back. But it’s also a song of hope for the monsters as undyne is giving her life to save everyone
It also overthrows what the rest of the game treats as a fundamental truth, the idea that Monster-kin lack that core essence that is Determination, which in my opinion makes this the most important part of Genocide, the shit with Chara is a story unto itself, but in the end its not really world changing, nothing about the paradigm of the world is changed knowing more about the shura known as Chara, but Undyne the Undying breaks the paradigm
@@syrelian I also love that the implication is since Undyne watches so much anime and believes it's all real, she whole-heartedly believes in anime tropes, in this case coming back from certain death with a stronger form. And, yes, this belief is so strong she's able to generate her own Determination, which monsters aren't supposed to be able to do.

This made me realize there isn't a "fight honorably" path in Undertale. Like killing, but justified by reason and considered morally right, and you being considered a "knight in shining armor". Damn that would be kinda nice.
it’s almost like UNDERTALE holds a certain view of violence that such a narrative wouldn’t serve. there is but one fight in which your option to give Mercy is denied, and only because the guy you’re fighting 1) doesn’t feel he deserves it and 2) recognizes the strength it has and that he shouldn’t let himself be susceptible to it. it matters in that moment that it’s the one circumstance where violence is mandatory rather than able to be put aside. to have a situation where your violence is justified is to cut the legs out from under the existing routes.
I was expecting this to be epic...and I wasn't disappointed.

I never liked Undyne as a character, at least in the Pacifist route. She straight up tries to kill you without any provocation other than you're a human, and is more than a little hypocritical about the whole "killing" thing. She tries to murder a child and condemn them to fate worse than death, being a power source, while if you kill even one monster in self defence, you're apparently irredeemable. Then, when you befriend her, you don't even get so much as an apology for her behaviour. It's just shrugged off as inconsequential. Her hypocrisy irritates me immensely, honestly.
