And once again I’m impressed by the Insta360 ONE X2. I experimented creating hyperlapse videos and these are my results!
If you’re fascinated by these hyperlapse Shots, then your are just like me! I’m impressed once again what possibilities a 360 camera offers you. In this example I used the Insta360 ONE X2, which in my opinion is the best consumer 360 camera on the market right now!
If you also want to create such amazing hyperlapse videos with minimal effort, watch this tutorial. Here I’m going to explain all the steps and my workflow, how I created these impressive hyperlapses with the Insta360 ONE X2.
In the first step I mounted my Insta360 ONE X2 on the Selfie Stick and extended it. Then I turned on the camera and selected the standard video mode with the highest resolution in 5,7K. I recorded the 360-videos in the automatic mode, because this leads to the correct exposure even when the lighting conditions are changing, which can happen if you record a Timeshift video. Press record and start moving foreward to create your Hyperlapse. You can mount the camera where ever you want, or use it handheld with your telescope stick. I recommend you to record at least 10 minutes or more.
After you finished your recording, the main hyperlapse refraiming process happens in post- production. For this tutorial I decided to show you the process in Insta360 Studio, but you also can create the same hyperlapse videos with the Insta360 App or other programs like Adobe Premiere Pro or Adobe After Effects.
First open Insta360 Studio and import your recorded 360 video. Make sure the Flowstate Stabilization is activated and Lock direction deactivated.
In the next step we had to speed up the video. Switch to the FreeCapture Tab and select the beginning point where you want to start speeding up the video. Then click on the TimeShift button and mark the end point. Click on the Speed factor and select your desired value. I recommend you 32x oder 64x. Make sure the Motion blur effect is activated, for processional locking hyperlapses. When you now playback the video the speed and motion blur effect is not previewing correctly. Be patient, you see the final results, after you export the video. Now the creative reframing part starts. Click on the keyframe button to set your first keyframe at the beginning. I recommend you to select the “natural view” for a dewarped wide angle view. If you want to get an even wider angle, you can increase the FOV value. Then set your second keyframe and reframe your video however you want. You can add as many keyframes as you like. When you hold down the timeline cursor on move through the timeline you see a preview of your hyperlapse.
To get the final result you had to export the video. Click on the export button and select your desired export settings. I normally change the resolution to 4k and select the ProRes 422 encoding format, for the best export quality. You can also select “Color Plus” for stronger colors.
Then click “ok” to export the video. When the export is finished you can enjoy your awesome reframed hyperlapse.

Why do you upscale to 4k? Will insta360 studio do a descent job interpolating? As I assume the cropped reframe is less than 4k?

I'm wondering. Isnt timelapse a fastforwarded version of regular video? I think it is better to just record regular speed one because some footage may be useful but of course, at the cost of memory and battery.

Hello all, i have a problem, when i make the video whit GoPro Reframe on premiere everything is ok, but when i link the clip in after affects to add the cc force motion blur, it lose all the reframe attributes, i've tryed averything to get rid of this problem, but it seems impossibile to solve it.
Anyone else experience this problem? It make me go crazy

Seit dem neuen App Update am PC funktioniert bei mir das Deep Tracking nicht mehr. Hat dazu jemand eine Lösung, wenn ich das Objekt verfolgen will bricht er nach einer Sekunde ab. Davor ging es immer problemlos

You make great and informative videos. One question about the one X2 and the go2. Is the viedeo quality much better on the go2 or is the quality of the videos from both cameras similar? I ask because I will probably make little use of the creative capabilities of the one x2. Thanks for any feedback.

HELP! Why are my insta 360 videos jerky?
Hi, I also made some footage from our canoe trip a few weeks ago but i’m having trouble editing it… for instance when I use the deeptrack function. We are paddling amongst an object at the bank of the water which I want to follow, I deeptrack the object but after we passed the object, I want to turn the camera back to the front of the canoe according to the same side it came from. Instead of this, the camera always continues its direction making a 360 degree turn. Do you know how to fix this? I hope my “problem” is clear, because my English is not very good 😅
I recommend you to reframe it manually with keyframes 😉
Ich hatte sie auch schon mit zum Paddeln. Insgesamt macht die X2 schon Spaß. Perspektive, Perspektivwechsel und Stabilisierung sind toll. Aber ich hab da ambivalente Gefühle. Was mich am meisten nervt, ist die Qualität, bzw. die mangelnde Qualität ... eigentlich in jeder Hinsicht; man werfe einen Blick auf die Dynamik, z. B. die Wolken hier beim Paddeln. Und dazu die digitale Anmutung hinsichtlich Schärfung. Es ist leider kein Regler vorhanden, um diese zu kontrollieren. Warum eigentlich nicht? Weißabgleich usw. sind ja auch einstellbar. Das Ergebnis macht meist keinen organischen, detaillierten Eindruck. Immerhin gibt's noch LOG und HDR, aber die haben auch ihre Nachteile .... Und die Bewegungsunschärfe: "professionelles" MotionBlur hin oder her ... wenn mangels Graufilter und Blende nicht mit annähernd 360° Verschlußwinkel gefilmt wurde, dann werden die nur stroboskopartig vorliegenden Einzelbilder damit auch einfach nur addiert, sieht man ja z. B. am Paddel, das einfach mehrfach ins Bild rückt, statt zu einem "Schwung" zu verschmelzen. Sanft ist das nicht. Bei wenig Licht wird es deutlich fließender, siehe Dein Flug entlang des Weges, der rockt. Mir ist schon klar, daß das keine Profikamera ist. Für den Preis geht sie auch in Ordnung und wenn man die Videos bis zum fertigen Endprodukt gut handhabt (4K-Export 422) ist das alles noch okay. Ich hoffe aber, daß sich mit einem der kommenden Firmware-Updates wenigstens die Schärfung noch regulieren oder gar abstellen läßt.
