That thumbnail makes it look like Sheila and James are into some kinky stuff. 😂
Kind off 🤭🤭😁
Imagine calling the hospital asking for ‘ the volunteer’ to come work for you,and not being able to give a name 😂
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 This volunteer instead of a name seems impractical. It is probably one of the most nonsensical aspect of the plot currently. Ridge should have at least found out volunteer's name from his doctor. 🤭
@@Angel.M.TrinidadYes, and to do a background check.
@@liana2136 Yes exactly! It is too far fetched. 👌
Ridge and James ... both in a very vulnerable position ... excellent performances by both actors
Ridge wants another kissy kissy from the volunteer?!!! 😂😂😂
*Brooke Puts on a Show*
Brooke putting on a happy family show for Taylor is similar to the happily married show Sheila put on for Lauren. In both cases Ridge and Eric were made to play along, blind to the reality of the stakes (figuratively in Eric's case). In both cases a woman was invited into the house who could destroy the family/marriage by revealing a secret. What's interesting about this obvious parallel is that it pairs Brooke with Sheila. I've written before about how Brooke and Sheila are character foils on similar storyline trajectories (1921 and 1961) and this parallel connects them again. It’s a reminder that Brooke is still not a Good Girl even though she and Taylor have switched roles. By entering into this deal and deception with Taylor, Brooke is now complicit in the lie and the secret. She's no longer a victim of the plot and no better than Taylor.
Moreover this “family show” recalls a scene back when Ridge and Taylor were happily married and Brooke invited them to dinner at the condo to show Taylor how Ridge interacted with her and Bridget. It was a ploy to rattle Taylor and to put her on the outside of a family tableau of Ridge/ Brooke/ the kids. Back then Brooke was trying to construct a fantasy and this time she has the real thing, but the parallel suggests that her happiness now _is still_ a fantasy and indeed it is now based on a lie.
Finally, there was also the show Taylor put on for James when he came to the palace -- to convince him that she was happily married to Omar and to let her stay dead (just as Brooke now wants to convince Taylor that Ridge is happily married and that she should stay dead). By then of course Taylor’s behavior had become unrecognizable and insensible, her character completely different from the way she was before.
By connecting Brooke three times in this way to “Sheila”, to her old self, and to the new Taylor, the show is preventing Brooke from assuming the Good Girl role and from "earning" the happy ending in this storyline.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. This is kind of post you don't get on other soap message boards and it's why, even though I'm only here for Susan Flannery's acting, I still enjoy reading the comments when she's not in the episode. Very well observed and well written.
Great analysis! And, as we've discussed before, this act _also_ connects Brooke with Omar (who is also a character incompatible with the Good Girl/Good Guy archetype) by having her replicate his two way mirror scheme.
Brooke is in the Good Girl "space" of the plot but isn't yet a Good Girl (she will temporarily become one in 1996, but will revert to the exact position she is in now by 1997, when she again keeps Taylor's secret).
And Taylor has had her brain transplanted into Jack, who is now the only one in this plot who keeps making sense, to no avail.
This means that _neither Brooke nor Taylor_ actually seem like they are in the process of "earning a happy ending" here. The situation is detrimental to both characters and neither one of them is "in the right".
@@awardego Thank you sir! You're always so kind. ❤
@@annieo6527 That's so true about Jack. And that's why, despite the storyline being back in LA now, it still feels dramatically inert. There's no drive or urgency because Taylor herself is resisting revealing herself to Ridge. The people who want her to reveal herself are passive/side characters (Jack) or not even in the storyline right now (James).
@@NewYorkNick0607 exactly - it feels frustrating because we have a character (Taylor) who is _blocking_ the plot from developing. It's like working or interacting with a person who keeps saying no to whatever is suggested.
So Brooke and Ridge hire a “stranger “ volunteer “ to enter their home as a caregiver and they don’t even know her name ( apart from Brooke)
This is a silly storyline.
True
I just said something similar. The volunteer as far as ridgebknows has zero medical experiance. A nurse or therapist would make more sense not some random volunteer who kissed ridge. Ridge just needs more than one woman's attention. And if it were my hubby some random volunteer wouldn't be in my home alone with my husband and kids.
There are a lot of silly storylines in B&B... the silliest of all that Taylor died twice and returned from the dead twice and both times she was with Omar 🙄... the second return wasn't even very spectacular... only like "Hi, I'm back"... very ridiculous!! And above all, she wasn't the same anymore... very much to my dislike... she has been my favourite character before but afterwards she has lost her dignity and her integrity... unfortunately...
It is a silly storyline.
1) They don't know even a name or anything else (where is she from?).
2) People volunteering (unpaid) at the hospital are supposed to just agree to become a voluntary caretaker of a millionaire at his/her house from 9-17.

Close to Fenmore stores in Genoa city 😅😅
Connor is aware he can't tell Brooke about knowing Taylor was alive all this time bc she will be mad as heck about him not telling her. Yet, Brooke feels perfectly justified in keeping this knowledge from Ridge...
The double standard here is crazy.
Brooke is gonna show Taylor what she's up against? That's sure not saying much. During their fake marriage I think Ridge has said Taylor's name and thought about her more than Brooke...
yes she is in his heart and soul and Brooke knows it that why she is shaking like a leaf
Connor didn't react surprised or ask any followup questions about Taylor being alive and Brooke really believed he didn't know anything? 🙄
Yeah, he acted less surprised at the news that Taylor was alive than I would be if my students told me that they actually did their homework.
@@annieo6527 LOL! You seem very conscientious so you must get so annoyed with your students. If you can spend time composing thoughtful essays for a B&B comment section, why can't they do their homework?? 😂😂

Brooke was going to give the family control of Belief

Trying to get personal information she felt betrayed again And this was after Stephanie arrived at her home gloating that Ridge got her to sign over Belief and not tell her what she was signing on the same night she was hoping Ridge would come back to her.

Yep. It was always about the two Rs: being *rejected* by Ridge and wanting *revenge* on Stephanie. Each time control of the company has been on the line, the show has conflated that storyline with the Ridge/Taylor/Brooke love triangle.

*A Sad Note about the Daytime Emmys*
I don't know if anyone watched the 50th Daytime Emmys last night but it was a sad and cheap looking affair. In the 90s, the Daytime Emmys were held at Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden and it looked like a normal classy award show. This year's golden jubilee looked like it was being held in a hangar. Sadly I think it's time they folded these awards into the main Primetime telecast and reduce the categories. And I say this as someone who loves acting and showbiz awards (hence my moniker) and who is an Emmy voter myself.
It doesn't make sense to have multiple acting categories or any awards for Show/Directing/Writing when there are only four traditional soaps on the air. The lack of competition cheapens the award and reduces the prestige. Last night Jacqueline MacInnes Wood won her THIRD Lead Actress Emmy which is excessive and absurd. She is a solid soap actress with real screen presence but she's not on the same level as Susan Flannery or other multiple Emmy winners. The only reason she (and others) have won multiple Emmys in recent years is because of the lack of competition.
They should just give out a single acting award for Performer in a Daytime Drama (regardless of gender or lead/supporting) and only give out special awards each year if a particular episode merits recognition for its craft. The Oscars for example did this a long time ago when Hollywood stopped making a lot of musicals and they discontinued the award for Best Score in a Musical (now they just have a single Score award regardless of genre). This is not an indictment of the talented people who work on soaps but merely a reflection of reality on the state of the genre.
I watched some of it. Agreed, it's not the same anymore. And it was sad considering the soap stars that have passed in the last year, some of them so young like Tyler Christopher from GH.😞
I enjoyed reading this, bc I no longer watch these award shows for the same reason. It is never interesting when the "competition" is so watered down and almost non existent.
I saw it. It was tack y like you said. The funniest part was when Thorsten Kaye won for best actor but wasn't there and doofus Brad ran up onstage to hog the spotlight and accept it. 🤭🤭

Good analogy….Brooke has lost her marbles. And here I thought Taylor was the unstable one. Taylor appears to now have her ducks in a row…while Brooke is loosing all sense of reality and common sense?😏
Brooke’s happiness and security has gone out the window…now that Taylor is alive! Just shows how little confidence Brooke has about herself…and the renewed confidence Taylor has in herself.😮
But we know how that goes on soaps…riding high before the fall…concerning Taylor this time. Brooke’s turn will happen down the road.😒
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 "... We were both raised by single parent ... I know what its like to be in love with someone you can't have ..." These lyrics should have been fed to Sheila by James initially so she could feel understood. Ridge is such a freaking creep. He wants the volunteer. A wiman whos name he doesnt even know. Who hasn't heard from since he left the hospital, ro cime and take care of him. Based on what...her attracion to him and that they kissed. Thatbwould be a reason to not want her in his home when they will be alone together. But rudge is just a creep and needs more than one womans attnetion. Even if taylor didnt reveal herself to ridge. She would or shoild be suspicious about ridges obsession with her.
It's a deep Tridge connection stans will never accept nor understand 😂
So Ridge is interested in getting to know the Volunteer. Because he feels a connection to her…she seems familiar? She kissed him and he liked it…according to what he said to Thorne.🤔
Now Brooke knows who the Volunteer is…and she is setting her up with Ridge? 🥹
The Deal…who is playing who? Seems Taylor is playing Brooke. Brooke’s resistance is making Taylor ever more determined to have Ridge back.😬

Another episode with secrets, deals and pretend.
- Connor pretends that he didn't know yet that Taylor is alive and back (keeping a secret from Brooke). - Brooke is keeping a secret from Ridge, while she wants Ridge and the kids to portray the perfect family, and she pretends that Connor has been there because of a patent.
- James pretends to really care for Sheila and to see similarities between them.
- Taylor is pretending to be the volunteer and is honoring her deal with Brooke (so that Brooke will accept Ridge's decision) but she already tells Jack that the family life won't change her mind in any case (Taylor wants to reunite with her husband and is willing to do what ever she has to, no matter the consequences. )
The ‘volunteer’ storyline is getting more ridiculous day by day. I wish they would have wrapped up this storyline sooner and moved on. Question, is Eric still living in his house with Sheila? I can’t remember now. Or did Eric move back into the Forrester mansion for now. It would seem kinda weird having Eric living in the Houdini house and seeing Sheila & Mike going in and out all the time, wondering what they were doing.
Someone is in the corner flicking their cheeks to make water droplet sounds💧
Brooke is supposed to be health conscious but she has a pile of sugary donuts on the breakfast table for the "guest" Volunteer? Maybe to show symbolically the sweet family life. Great scene with Sheila and James, much better than the cringe at Casa Bridge. 😔
I think the donuts are just to get Taylor fat and unattractive 😂😂😂
But seriously... Brooke isn't tired trying to always construct a perfect fantasy life? And worse, she's once again dragging her kids into it. And once again lying to Ridge..
Not sure when she's going to start living in reality.
@@TriniT21 Ikr? Brookes' deal makes zero sense. If she was smart, a lie that would have benefited her would have been to say that the Volunteer was no longer at the hospital and they told her that she moved. Isn't this like season 9 already? How many episodes did season 8 have?
It is still Season 8. Between 1987-1994 the show began its seasons in March, but that got changed to September in 1995. As a result, Season 8 is an exceptionally long one lasting from March 1994 to September 1995.
This scene (with James asking Shelia to have dinner) reminds me of a scene from the movie "Misery" where Sean Cann catches Kathy Bates offguard by asking her to have dinner together in the house where she was holding him captive.

Putting on a show for Taylor, making a deal with her puts Brooke in her role, the manipulator. She is not good here at all and she is so sure that Ridge will be devastated only because she really thinks Ridge will leave her for Taylor. Taylor is not good because she refuses to reveal herself to Ridge, giving time to Brooke, once again, acting stupid and playing games. Nobody here is thinking about Ridge. Not Taylor and even more Brooke who hopes that Taylor's love for Ridge will prevent the break up of her family and so pretending (how long ?)Taylor is not alive..
