  • Saturday August 31st we took off up 7 mile trail and cut through a few others to our main objective, Bald Mountain Trail #517. Bald Mountain trail is located just south of Red Feather Lakes, Colorado and shoots you up to about 11,000 feet at the highest point.
    That is of course where we decided to camp for the night, pour some pretty strong rum and cokes (which sneak up on you fast at 11,000 feet), and have an awesome night.
    This was also the official maiden voyage of the "new to me" steven's m416 military trailer. Since getting that I have rebuilt the hubs, bought 5.5x5 to 5x5 wheel adapters to run JL takeoff wheels, and move the pintle to the lower of the 2 holes on the trailer.
    as expected is followed me up bald mountain's rock crawl section with ease, not really bogging me down at all. I could feel it back there, but i got through the entire trail with no lockers etc.
    This fall/winter i will have a hinged top made and get a roof top tent on it for next summer, plus i'm going to have some custom fenders made so the tires stop rubbing them on the bumps.
    great overnight trip! hope there are a few more coming before the snow flies.

    Thanks again for sharing Justin. I always enjoy your adventures and the scenery. I sure am missing my usual fall outage to Colorado and other western states...

    Once again a great video. That trailer footage was real good. Looked like it handled it good. Great drone footage as well, you choose some nice background music for the drone stuff. Thanks again for taking us along!

    I wouldn't worry about forgetting to record the campfire. I love your trail video. Especially the back view showing the trailer. I would probably watch the entire trip, unedited if you uploaded it. We don't have many roads like that here in Western Oregon. Here, all the forest roads were built for 18 wheel log trucks. So if they aren't paved, at least they are very smooth.

    I really liked the forward view with the outside GoPro! Maybe you could do that more often and insert the interior video in a window in the corner. Thanks for taking us along!

    Another great video. You guys sure drive on some rough roads! I suppose you hear that all the time. The drone video was great. Miles and miles of miles and miles. Sure is pretty country out there!

    Put the RTT on before winter and go snow camping!!!! I don’t care to camp in the summer anymore, much more fun, clean, and secluded in the winter time!!!

      i'm working on finding a welder to make my top (i mean a person who welds anyway).

    • @rcjeepers
      @rcjeepers 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did mine without a lid. I raised my trailer sides with 18 gauge metal studs cut in half and then I welded in some crossbars flush to the top of my trailer and mounted the tent on top. I used a rubber gasket around the top to seal it to the trailer. Keeps my stuff dry and It cost me about $40 in material. Would be really easy to put a hinge and shocks on if you wanted to be able to lift the tent for access to the trailer bed.

    Great content as usual, liking the trailer, back when I had a YJ space was a premium. However I had moved up from a '81 CJ5 so it felt like an unlimited lol. I'm slowly but surely kiting out my '97 f150. Saving for a winch, its my only vehicle at the moment so nothing crazy. I do miss my Jeep though, I got stupid on a gravel road and went into the embankment, kicked the nose up after bending both front leaf packs, did a pirouette across the backside, I distinctly remember seeing cedar trees pointed the wrong direction in the headlights b4 slamming down on all 4 wheels. Bent the frame,front springs, driver side rear bumperette was flat, destroyed the hard top, but both side windows to the top was laying in the road with allot of my gear and tools. Yeah loads of fun, learned I can't drift a Wrangler for shit lol. Oh and as a public service announcement: WEAR your seatbelts, I went halfway out the 2 piece door,but the lap belt kept me inside. The top half of the door was bent out at over 45 degrees. Across the front of my pelvis was purple for a week or so

    • @JustinKingOffroad
      @JustinKingOffroad  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      on seven Mile trail no problem. On the lower section of Bald mountain you would be fine but the upper gets pretty narrow and The Rock's get pretty big.
