Hi Rogues! Jason mentioned at the beginning of the episode that he is using a PVC pipe because he didn’t want to cut a living branch off the tree! PVC’s production is very bad for the environment, so it might’ve been more environmentally friendly to use the tree branch! I might be wrong but wanted to share

You guys have been going in with the bushcraft stuff. You guys should make a better bushcraft shelter, perhaps a lean-to? Definitely with a raised bed
I've never seen deadfalls made that way. When I was young I was taught to use two rocks, a prop stick, and a trigger stick. One rock was positioned vertical, the other was horizontal on top, and then you'd stack your prop, and trigger stick together under the opposite side of the rock. I still think the snares A way better trap when done correctly.

You needed to have some slack on the prop stick in the first trap. Having tension kept it from yanking out.

The heavy stone holding the stick is the reason for the figure four configuration so that there is not a direct weight transfer from the rock down to the ground.

I was hoping they'd do deadfalls next but there are way simpler designs for a deadfall, usually a basic tripwire trigger and a suspended big log is easier to use

the notched stake deadfall would probably have been more successful. Those are finicky too though. Takes a lot of practice, patience and skill to properly whittle the trigger.
While I'm thinking about it, you guys should totally do the spike whip branch traps from Turok Evolution.
Congrats! You reset the injury counter on a rock and stick.
Problem with deadfall traps is they often injure animals without killing them. Things like foxes will chew their own limbs off and are often fast enough to get mostly if not completely out of the way.
Using naturally grown PVC as a SPRING. A very modern rogue thing to do...
You should do an episode of (at least theoretical) processing of these animals you catch (such as beanie babies)
Bring back “IM A MODERN ROOOOOOOOGUE”
I think the first method would work better if you make the string that pull the stick longer, so it is loose. That would allow the engine to built up some momentum before pulling the stick out from under the trap
put the string at the bottom of the support stick, otherwise your pvc tension bar will have to contest with the weight of the rock holding it down.
if you put the cord at the bottom of the stick, the bottom will be pulled out; winning you dinner.

Just food for thought, the second attempt would have worked you just need to tie the not on the upper part of the stick as close to the rock as possible. By tying the string at the bottom of the stick you were getting no leverage and were pulling on the end of the stick that was forced into the ground by the rock. With the knot up high on the stick the rapid slack would have caused the stick to pull out from under the rock.
Don't know if you'll see this but a T-bar snare could be a good idea to check out
