I was brought up the Springburn from 1960 with many good memories, but I am sorry to say from the minute they built the bypass, Springburn was destroyed. 😢 There was so much to do in old Sprinburn sadly lost.
Think when they pulled down old tenements from wellfield St and Springburn road, do you remember the original Santas chippie had wee restaurant upstairs
@ Hi mate, I remember the old Santi’s, but I don't remember their tearoom. I remember I used to buy Airfix models at a shop just to the left of Woolworth’s opposite the swingpark/fountain at the bottom of Balgrayhill. I am 64 now and living in Spain but will always be a Springburn boy.
We always are, the tearoom was above the chippie, cant remember airfix shop, but remember woolies, great big shop, I'm almost 60 went to balornock primary
@ I remember your school, I used to play football in the playground when the school was closed, opp the red ash pitches. I went to Hyde Park pri and Colston sec. I had a mate who lived in the street opposite the school, Cockmuir St( Jim Andreson) and another (Peter Mcfarlane).
shopping centre opened in 1981. radio Clyde DJ Dave Marshall and the then lord provost Michael Kelly were both there to open it. word has it it's earmarked for demolition within the next few years

Springburn Shopping Centre, is as bad as The Rutherglen Exchange. Small, cramped and not many interesting shops.
