    The MSM does not have a wideband. As the suggestion below said, Use the old O2 pigtail for the power and sensor. I did that and used the stock wiring.

      Can confirm, the msm has a narrow band oem oxygen sensor.

      Miata.net seems to be the best forum for MSM. I think that they have the archives for a defunct MSM forum also.

      I just bought a car with a little enchilada, adaptronics ECU, and some other stuff, the only thing is that it can't pass emissions through OBD with an aftermarket ECU so I'll have to put a stock ECU on (which I don't have) and then pair it to the immobilizer and run a stock tune to pass emissions then pull it all out and go back to my tuned ECU... What a pain

    There's another black box beside the yellow one that dropped down at about 2:26. I was unable to dislodge it, so I snapped the plastic rail that holds it to the bracket, and then zip tied both it and the yellow box to the top of the steering column. Your instructions, by the way, on the O2 sensor connection, were far clearer than the documentation that came with my MS. Thank-you!

    You can save that input you used and take the stock o2 sensor (upstream), cut the pigtail off stock sensor, and solder the 0-5v from your controller to the pigtail (should be one of the black or blue wires). Then just plug it in to the stock location and leave the ego input option back to what it was and should work and save that option pin. What I did for my NB and it works.

    You are the luckiest guy when it comes to MS i swear lol. Every MS I have installed on a Miata with the base map would not start and required adjustments to the fuel map and cranking pulses to start. I was looking forward to seeing how you would tackle this issue as there isn't a good tutorial or video on how a person new to tuning would even get to the point where the car will run to set base timing. For anyone who is considering installing an MS just know that for some people the car will not start and you will likely need an extra day or two on top of the install to get it running.

    14:00 - Had this same problem with my NA. When I figured out where the mark was, I wondered how my car was running with ignition @ 120° after TDC. If your pulley is slipping, replace it ASAP. That shit can fly off at high RPM and do some damage.

      Yup I have a 94 that I swear isn’t pushing 94 horses is it’s even got 90. But DAMN is she still fun in the twisties. I would be ecstatic if I can get 150-180 somehow.

    Great video, getting ls3 coils installed on my MSM. It did 230 whp on 12.6 lbs on E85. I think I will be very close to your 2554 before you did the wheel upgrade.

    Yo, I just got a Mazdaspeed miata and im hoping to get fuel injectors and the ecu like you did and I was just wondering if this tutorial would still be a good tutorial to follow and that everything will work. The video is only 5 years old so id assume that it would still work just wanna be sure. Thank you!
    Also, 40PSI sounds insane. I was hoping to push more boost also when I get a boost gauge kit. Its my daily driver for school and life and everything so how much PSI do you think I could push safely for a daily and safely for the stock turbo.

    Back at that time Toyotas and some germans were really the only ones I can remember using "Wideband's" and they called them Air Fuel Ratio sensors instead of just labeling them O2 sensors. Mazda speed guys definitely still want to use a wideband!

    I doubt your still checking this video, but did you tune off of the factory IAT sensor, or did you install a gm sensor in the IC coldside?

    Got an '04 MSM. Did similar mods within the last 6mo. RX8 420 injectors ($25 ea and plug-n-play), MSPro, and Wideband. The car already had FM Lil Enchilada (downpipe w/ cat, exhaust, and larger intercooler...which is a must to reduce heat soak effects IMO). Tuned on 93 got 243whp on a dynojet. Looking to avoid squishy rods! ;-) The redline was increased but the teeny-tiny stock turbo limits usable power above 6500 anyway. And the MSM doesn't appear to have an OEM Wideband.

      I'm surprised raising the RPM limit wasn't brought up in the video. Disregarding the power, just the stretch in time you get staying in a gear makes it seems worth doing with the yoga pants tight 4.10 rear end the car has.

    14:45 I always thought the right most dent on the pulley was indicating TDC, so THAT is the one that should align to the 10 mark?

      At 10 degrees advance, the 2 marks should line up with 10 and TDC. If you lined the right most mark up with 10, your base timing would be 20 degrees.

    I would love to see a 1.8 diff swapped over to an rx7 clutch pack. There are a couple of videos about it but Greg does it better! Might fall on deaf ears. I know he has plans for a cadi rear end already and I just watched the rx7 carrier swap.

    Is your friend swapping back to OEM ECU and injectors come inspection/ emission testing time? I want to turbo my NB1, but will probably end up going with a FM Voodoo kit so I don't have to mess with it too much for its yearly tests

    when you put in the new pulley, did you have to align it somehow first to get the timing marks right? Wasn't sure because when I did my timing belt job I just put the pulley back on I didn't align it ... but yes, the timing sprocket I did align correctly and the motor is timed correctly. I don't think this step was explained in previous videos.

      There is some kind of dowel that only lets the damper go on a certain way. if your timing gear was installed correctly but your timing marks are way off either your ignition timing is actually off or you may have a slipped pulley. manually crank the engine to top dead center at cylinder 1 and see if the timing marks on your crank damper line up correctly with the ones on the plastic timing cover, that's the surefire way to know.

    I would say heat management is your issue. Hood vents, insulation, and maybe an oil cooler, then think about a tune

    I have an SR20DET i've been trying to get started, i have a base map from the website they told me to get the base map tune and when i go and load it i got that error message and i thought i had to search for the right update.
    All i had to do was accept it and it should start right up. Bruh i feel so dumb. . . . Silly me, well im going to try it out soon and see if my 240sx starts right up. . .

    Hey Greg. Can i use a mega squirt 2 plug and play to ms a nb2 NA vvt motor? Could i add a vvt application to the MS2? Let me know if the MS3 is my only option with this motor. Thanks dude

    Hey Greg, I have a 07 NC. When I speak to the different Miata guys. No one ever seams to know anything about the NC. Like it’s the red headed stepchild of the Miata world. I personally think it has the best looking body when you have the hardtop. I have been trying to find a good group of Miata guys to help me get this thing back on the road. I’m in the DFW area of Texas. Do you have suggestions?

    6:44 the AEM wideband has (white)positive output and a (brown)negative output. Did you connect the brown one at all or do I just leave that alone.

      Negative output needs to be grounded. Positive output to ECU

    Great video, yo! I’ve got an 05 MSM with a skunk2 throttle body, and from 0-3500 RPM it bogs a lot. What kind of tune do I need to make it stop doing that?

      @@TheCarPassionChannel yeah I have a stock ECU. Skunk2 Intake Manifold I believe deleted the EGR valve. It is currently throwing some codes. has a Sensor/Switch A Circuit High Code and several Exhaust Gas Recirculation codes. What do you think the fix is?

      @@alexxmigss The fix is likely a standalone, you can't really add a bunch of airflow mods without any tuning. But I would start with adding a wideband so you can tell for sure if you're leaning out. If you delete EGR you'll throw a code on the stock ECU too

      @@alexxmigss You won't need injectors until you start raising boost. The stock injectors can support more than stock power, the first thing I would do is just install a wideband. Leave everything else alone, just see if you're running lean/rich in boost and that will tell you if you need a tune or not with the mods you have
