👍 👍 Posted this before but once again for your questions. 1997 is the year Suzuka Nakamoto (lead vocalist) was born. BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). Legend 1997 was Su-metal's 16th birthday party in December 2013 (Yui and Moa were both still only 14 ... and give a couple of 14 year olds smoke cannons to fire at a crowd of about 9,000 people and you know they'll have fun with it). They had another concert 6 months earlier called Legend 1999 celebrating Yui's and Moa's 14th birthdays. Every time they do 'Headbanger' is special ... I was so pleased it was on the set list when I saw them in 2020. It is on the set list for the current US tour as well. 'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but it is also a coming of age thing (compulsory education ends at 15 in Japan), so you were pretty much there - the girl is realising life will never be the same, her first 15 years passed by so quickly, so she is etching this special night of her 15th into her heart so she will never forget. At shows in 2014 on or near their own 15th birthdays Yuimetal (in Paris) and Moametal (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for 'Headbanger' when Su-metal handed them the mic and stand half way through the song for them to finish it off ... and Su-metal seamlessly stepped into their place with the choreo. There are only fancam videos for those. The same thing happened at the Legend M concert in 2019 on Moametal's 20th birthday - 20 is the official coming of age to be an adult in Japan (I think that is being changed to 18, but I'm sure 20 will still be the birthday they celebrate most). I am over 60 y.o.. I have never felt a so strong connection between a band and their audience. I had a lot of tears of joy in my eyes. They are unique in their energy with the crowd.
I saw them with DeathKlock in Pittsburgh. They absolutely blew the roof off the place. Incredible live performance. If you ever get the chance to see them i HIGHLY recommend it.

Hell yeeah! Welcome back to the Fox Hole! This concert, Legend 1997, is such an epic concert, and a symbolic milestone for Babymetal (IMO): 1). Took place Dec 2013, lead Su-metal’s 16th BDay concert. She’s the “Legend”, born in “1997”. 2). Concert lore: Babymetal summoned by the FOX GOD to battle Idol industry which oppressed Metal. They do this by infiltrating the industry as idols themselves, then to fuse jpop to metal music. 3). Concert starts off with very poppy and electronic songs, with 1st 9 songs played to track (live vocals except song #1) with a fake band in skeleton costumes (simulating idols, but IRL reason - Babymetal just got big, couldn’t afford live band full time, yet). 4). As concert progress, songs get heavier, and for the 5-song encore, they bring on the Kami Band. Concert closes with an epic death of Su-metal as mortal (and idol) and ascension to become a Metal Goddess. This song was #3 of the 5-song encore. (Hint: BABYMETAL DEATH Legend 1997 would be an epic reaction 👌😉) Next suggestion: You gotta do the Road of Resistance (official). Great reaction. Just recently discovered this band myself and saw them in Pittsburgh Sept. 8. They are incredible. Suzuka's live vocals are so good I literally thought she must be lip syncing. This band is incredible. Seriously. It’s one of the best bands that came from the 21st century PERIOD. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! I’ll spare the details about the band since there’s already a lot of other people that do that in the comments, so I’m just going to leave my song recommendations for them. I’ll give you a few songs from each album; 2014- first album: self-titled (Babymetal) Headbanger, Megitsune, Ijime Dame Zettai, Akatsuki, Rondo of Nightmare 2016- second album: Metal Resistance Road of Resistance, Karate, YAVA, Syncopation, Sis Anger, Amore, No Rain No Rainbow 2019- third album: Metal Galaxy Distortion, Night Night Burn, Pa Pa Ya, BxMxC, Kagerou, and The Trilogy of Light (consists of 3 songs that go in order; Starlight -> Shine -> Arkadia) 2023- not considered the 4th album officially: The Other One Monochrome, Metal Kingdom, Divine Attack, Mirror Mirror, MAYA, Believing.. I can practically name their whole discography, almost all of their songs are 9/10s. If I had to choose 1 song specifically for you to react to next, I have to say Road of Resistance live, or Akatsuki live. Babymetal is much much better in Live shows, that is where they shine, so you should definitely watch their live performances and not the studio versions of the songs! Great reaction, thanks! You totally got the direct meaning of the song. But sometimes direct translations lead us to misunderstand things. I see you already know the deeper meaning of the song: about growing up and leaving the childhood behind, with a hint of nostalgia. In this case, the childhood is what is going to disappear soon. Many times we get lost in translation because they often use literary resources like metaphor and even allegory. So we need to check out translator's and even cultural notes. Du-metal has a blog with the translation, notes and cultural references for their two first albums. Hey man, glad you came back to Babymetal🦊This time with Headbanger, one of my favorites haha. And I'm sorry you missed the tour but I'm sure the girls will come back sooner than later! First of all, since you said you became a fan: Welcome to THE ONE! (it's how the girls calls the fanbase and inside the fanbase we are all "Kitsunes (foxes)"). And a fun fact the fox sign is the signal we use in Babymetal and not the common "devil horns". If you just google "fox sign babymetal" you will learn how to do it, but it's very simple! haha I would recommend you checking out now: "Road of Resistance", either the studio version (with Herman Li playing the guitar) or the "Live In Japan" version (Kami band members), both are amazing. Maybe you can check both versions in one video. Headbanger is a song that Yui (former member, since 2018) and Moa (still a member) can take the lead and sing when near or on birthday related shows (we call this performances "Yuibanger" and "Moabanger" - maybe in the future we will have a "Momobanger") but, I would recommend you checking those different versions on the future, when you get all the feeling of BM and it will mean a lot more for you, because they are very special occasions and will hit harder! It's a song about going to your first concert at 15. 15 is an important age in Japan, Middle School is the end of compulsory schooling and is the age when you either go to high school (optional) or go to work, Vast majority go to high school. The line about blooming fruitlessly is a recurring theme, in Megitsune they say it "blooming and falling is the fate of a woman". They are bascially chafing at a male dominated society that values youth in girls.

Catch Me if You Can is a fun one about playing hide and seek with a demon. Yava is another good one and Rondo of NIghtmare is one of the songs Su sings solo to give the other two a break. Nice reaction. Welcome to the foxhole. The ladies know how to sell a song. They put their all into those early performances to the point they would be exhausted at the end. In an interview they spoke about having to have a meeting about finding a way to save some of that energy for the next show. During one of their early festival appearances, they had to stop they show because Moa was overheating. They did finish the show. But in those days, they went full bore for every song. Even when you get to watch them now. They go hard. Better than going to the gym. Want to be slim. Just go to Babymetal concert and try to keep up with them. For a deep dive into their song lyrics, I suggest checking out Prof AJ Hartley's youtube channel. He's done just about all of their songs, and he goes over the possible translations as well. Somethings don't translate very well. I have found it rather fun to get a translation of the song and what I think of the song and then compare it to what he's come up with. Sometimes getting a better understanding of the lyrics can change what you thought the song was about. Like in Headbanger. they are singing Hedoban. Which means headbanger but it also means number one fan. So, when she is singing about rushing to the front of the stage. She is showing how she is the number one fan. The biggest fan. Headbanger is about a fifteen year old girl sneaking out of home to go to her first metal concert and getting caught up in the moment, but at the same time, she is aware that this is a pivotal moment in her life as she transitions from childhood to adulthood, so she is savouring this moment knowing that she will carry the memory with her for the rest of her life. Basically, it's a song about adolescence and growing up to become who you want to be. Like a lot of Babymetal songs, it's a song of empowerment (particularly for girls) and positivity. This performance took place at the Legend 1997 concert on December 21st 2013, which was to celebrate the sixteenth birthday of Su-metal , so Su had turned 16 the day before, and Yui and Moa were 14. It's a shame that you missed them in Orlando, because they have been playing this song as part of the current tour set. The band playing with them on the current world tour is the Kami Band of the West, which is made up of American musicians, whereas the Kami Band in this video was the Kami Band of the East, the Japanese musicians. As for the next song you should watch, I would recommend either "Megitsune" (most people watch the music video because it's kind of iconic), or "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere 2014. Both are classic Babymetal songs from the early part of their career.
You mentioned missing their Orlando show. I saw them in Sacramento this weekend and wrapping up their US tour. They did announce they'll be in Las Vegas next year, so likely there'll be another US tour as part of that. It was my first time seeing them live(and I'm not a live music kind of person), and it was really a lot of fun.

Can you believe that this is the 12th song after 11 exhausting performance (and still 2 more) even if this was filmed in 2013 when they were mid-teens? The crowd's mass headbanging occurs wherever BM goes on this planet. In this video, you heard the crowd shout some words at 06:01. The words are "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!" (addressed to crybabies in the metal concert). This crowd's shout in Japanese occurs whenever Su-Metal turns her mic towards the audience. It did in Orlando, and you confirm it by seeing fancam video in YT.
Su is 16, her birthday as the day before this concert. Yui and Moa, dance and scream, are 14. Song is not about Su, she was 14 when the studio MV was recorded. NOTE - This is not the final song, "Death" is.
Next song should be Sonisphere Ijime, Dame, Zettai in my opinion. As I said before, it fits perfectly with what your channel is all about. It's also the first time the girls performed internationally, so it is a very important and special moment in Babymetal history.

Good reaction. All you have to do is watch "Road of Resistance live in Japan" to be dragged with a smile on your face to the depths of the fox hole. 15 years old, in Japan, are very special. A stage in the boy's life ends, leaving childhood behind and entering youth, since between the ages of 15 and 17 (preparatory school) is the stage where they must prepare for adult life and define their future.
The original Kami band was made up some of Japan's best Metal Musicians. An interesting point is these men were able to tour the world because of 3 Teenage Girls!!!

My favourite performance of my favourite Babymetal song. One thing that stands out from this I'd you can see the value Yui and Moa bring, they link with the crowd and lead them in the chants and dance moves. Good ones to watch are Catch Me If You Can (Budokan 2014 has a Kami intro you'll love), Akatsuki (Budokan 2014 again, Su is solo here), Sis Anger.and GJ (Yui and Moa, Su gets a rest), Ijime Dame Zettai (an anti-bullying song), BMC live at Budokan 2014, Yava (with Kami intro), Megitsune (the MV is good here, but also live at Red Fox Festival 2017). The list is longer still, but you should enjoy all of these.
If you'd like some happy tears I highly recommend Road of Resistance and Arkadia, they always get me. I think you would enjoy Catch me if you can (The heaviest song about playing hide and seek )

Posted this before but once again for your questions. 1997 is the year Suzuka Nakamoto (lead vocalist) was born.
BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents.
Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).

They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)

Yui Mizuno left BabyMetal in 2018 due to health reasons and at their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019 after Yui's departure) has officially become the third member.
Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles.

Great reaction. Legend 1997 was Su-metal's 16th birthday party in December 2013 (Yui and Moa were both still only 14 ... and give a couple of 14 year olds smoke cannons to fire at a crowd of about 9,000 people and you know they'll have fun with it). They had another concert 6 months earlier called Legend 1999 celebrating Yui's and Moa's 14th birthdays.
Every time they do 'Headbanger' is special ... I was so pleased it was on the set list when I saw them in 2020. It is on the set list for the current US tour as well.
'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but it is also a coming of age thing (compulsory education ends at 15 in Japan), so you were pretty much there - the girl is realising life will never be the same, her first 15 years passed by so quickly, so she is etching this special night of her 15th into her heart so she will never forget.
At shows in 2014 on or near their own 15th birthdays Yuimetal (in Paris) and Moametal (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for 'Headbanger' when Su-metal handed them the mic and stand half way through the song for them to finish it off ... and Su-metal seamlessly stepped into their place with the choreo. There are only fancam videos for those.
The same thing happened at the Legend M concert in 2019 on Moametal's 20th birthday - 20 is the official coming of age to be an adult in Japan (I think that is being changed to 18, but I'm sure 20 will still be the birthday they celebrate most). You can find that posted by the Babymetal Reactor Resource under 'Moabanger' I think.

I am over 60 y.o.. I have never felt a so strong connection between a band and their audience. I had a lot of tears of joy in my eyes. They are unique in their energy with the crowd.
I saw them with DeathKlock in Pittsburgh. They absolutely blew the roof off the place. Incredible live performance. If you ever get the chance to see them i HIGHLY recommend it.

Hell yeeah! Welcome back to the Fox Hole! This concert, Legend 1997, is such an epic concert, and a symbolic milestone for Babymetal (IMO):
1). Took place Dec 2013, lead Su-metal’s 16th BDay concert. She’s the “Legend”, born in “1997”.
2). Concert lore: Babymetal summoned by the FOX GOD to battle Idol industry which oppressed Metal. They do this by infiltrating the industry as idols themselves, then to fuse jpop to metal music.
3). Concert starts off with very poppy and electronic songs, with 1st 9 songs played to track (live vocals except song #1) with a fake band in skeleton costumes (simulating idols, but IRL reason - Babymetal just got big, couldn’t afford live band full time, yet).
4). As concert progress, songs get heavier, and for the 5-song encore, they bring on the Kami Band. Concert closes with an epic death of Su-metal as mortal (and idol) and ascension to become a Metal Goddess. This song was #3 of the 5-song encore. (Hint: BABYMETAL DEATH Legend 1997 would be an epic reaction 👌😉)
Next suggestion: You gotta do the Road of Resistance (official). Co-written by Dragonforce, epic power metal battle anthem, 17 year old Su-metal gets 20k people to mosh, wall of death, and circle pit… epic performance!

Great reaction. Just recently discovered this band myself and saw them in Pittsburgh Sept. 8. They are incredible. Suzuka's live vocals are so good I literally thought she must be lip syncing. Could not believe how precise she is once I figured out that she was actually singing live. They have so many great songs and there is so much to see. Enjoy!

You totally got the direct meaning of the song. But sometimes direct translations lead us to misunderstand things. I see you already know the deeper meaning of the song: about growing up and leaving the childhood behind, with a hint of nostalgia. In this case, the childhood is what is going to disappear soon. Many times we get lost in translation because they often use literary resources like metaphor and even allegory. So we need to check out translator's and even cultural notes. Du-metal has a blog with the translation, notes and cultural references for their two first albums.
Another great song with amazing lyrics (against bullying, actually) is "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014). It's on their official channel.

Hey man, glad you came back to Babymetal🦊This time with Headbanger, one of my favorites haha. And I'm sorry you missed the tour but I'm sure the girls will come back sooner than later!
First of all, since you said you became a fan: Welcome to THE ONE! (it's how the girls calls the fanbase and inside the fanbase we are all "Kitsunes (foxes)"). And a fun fact the fox sign is the signal we use in Babymetal and not the common "devil horns". If you just google "fox sign babymetal" you will learn how to do it, but it's very simple! haha
I would recommend you checking out now: "Road of Resistance", either the studio version (with Herman Li playing the guitar) or the "Live In Japan" version (Kami band members), both are amazing. Maybe you can check both versions in one video.
Headbanger is a song that Yui (former member, since 2018) and Moa (still a member) can take the lead and sing when near or on birthday related shows (we call this performances "Yuibanger" and "Moabanger" - maybe in the future we will have a "Momobanger") but, I would recommend you checking those different versions on the future, when you get all the feeling of BM and it will mean a lot more for you, because they are very special occasions and will hit harder!

It's a song about going to your first concert at 15. 15 is an important age in Japan, Middle School is the end of compulsory schooling and is the age when you either go to high school (optional) or go to work, Vast majority go to high school. The line about blooming fruitlessly is a recurring theme, in Megitsune they say it "blooming and falling is the fate of a woman". They are bascially chafing at a male dominated society that values youth in girls.

Nice reaction. Welcome to the foxhole. The ladies know how to sell a song. They put their all into those early performances to the point they would be exhausted at the end. In an interview they spoke about having to have a meeting about finding a way to save some of that energy for the next show. During one of their early festival appearances, they had to stop they show because Moa was overheating. They did finish the show. But in those days, they went full bore for every song. Even when you get to watch them now. They go hard. Better than going to the gym. Want to be slim. Just go to Babymetal concert and try to keep up with them. For a deep dive into their song lyrics, I suggest checking out Prof AJ Hartley's youtube channel. He's done just about all of their songs, and he goes over the possible translations as well. Somethings don't translate very well. I have found it rather fun to get a translation of the song and what I think of the song and then compare it to what he's come up with. Sometimes getting a better understanding of the lyrics can change what you thought the song was about. Like in Headbanger. they are singing Hedoban. Which means headbanger but it also means number one fan. So, when she is singing about rushing to the front of the stage. She is showing how she is the number one fan. The biggest fan. Headbanger is about a fifteen year old girl sneaking out of home to go to her first metal concert and getting caught up in the moment, but at the same time, she is aware that this is a pivotal moment in her life as she transitions from childhood to adulthood, so she is savouring this moment knowing that she will carry the memory with her for the rest of her life. Basically, it's a song about adolescence and growing up to become who you want to be. Like a lot of Babymetal songs, it's a song of empowerment (particularly for girls) and positivity.
This performance took place at the Legend 1997 concert on December 21st 2013, which was to celebrate the sixteenth birthday of Su-metal , so Su had turned 16 the day before, and Yui and Moa were 14.
It's a shame that you missed them in Orlando, because they have been playing this song as part of the current tour set. The band playing with them on the current world tour is the Kami Band of the West, which is made up of American musicians, whereas the Kami Band in this video was the Kami Band of the East, the Japanese musicians.
As for the next song you should watch, I would recommend either "Megitsune" (most people watch the music video because it's kind of iconic), or "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere 2014. Both are classic Babymetal songs from the early part of their career.

You mentioned missing their Orlando show. I saw them in Sacramento this weekend and wrapping up their US tour. They did announce they'll be in Las Vegas next year, so likely there'll be another US tour as part of that. It was my first time seeing them live(and I'm not a live music kind of person), and it was really a lot of fun.

Can you believe that this is the 12th song after 11 exhausting performance (and still 2 more) even if this was filmed in 2013 when they were mid-teens? The crowd's mass headbanging occurs wherever BM goes on this planet. In this video, you heard the crowd shout some words at 06:01. The words are "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!" (addressed to crybabies in the metal concert). This crowd's shout in Japanese occurs whenever Su-Metal turns her mic towards the audience. It did in Orlando, and you confirm it by seeing fancam video in YT.

The original Kami band was made up some of Japan's best Metal Musicians. An interesting point is these men were able to tour the world because of 3 Teenage Girls!!!

We focus so much on the individual in Western culture that we've forgotten in recent years what its like to have fun together with a experience, musical or otherwise despite everyones differences.
It reminds me of being a young lad when it seems like there was less division than now ,because you would go to Rock/Metal concerts or other festivals and marvel at all the different crazy stuff and people, but when the mosh started none of that mattered any more...it was on

My favourite performance of my favourite Babymetal song. One thing that stands out from this I'd you can see the value Yui and Moa bring, they link with the crowd and lead them in the chants and dance moves. Good ones to watch are Catch Me If You Can (Budokan 2014 has a Kami intro you'll love), Akatsuki (Budokan 2014 again, Su is solo here), Sis Anger.and GJ (Yui and Moa, Su gets a rest), Ijime Dame Zettai (an anti-bullying song), BMC live at Budokan 2014, Yava (with Kami intro), Megitsune (the MV is good here, but also live at Red Fox Festival 2017). The list is longer still, but you should enjoy all of these.
