Please keep doing these as long as you get enough submissions - I love watching this series because it is so informative and you give really helpful advice!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy these videos. There’s currently another 20 videos worth of submissions 🫣 so as long as people like them, il keep making them and hopefully one day il get to the bottom of the list! 😊
I’ve been having piano lessons since September 2022 and I started Grade 1 in January and I’m halfway through the book. Learning the piano is so much fun and I enjoy watching other people show off their piano skills. Also your videos are really fun and interesting, I love your dedication on spending a lot of time making these videos. These videos are very helpful to lots of other people too that want to learn the piano and play their favourite tunes too. Piano is the best instrument for me. I loves it. Keep up with the videos man! You deserve at least 100k subscribers.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy these videos. Keep going with your piano playing and keep enjoying it! If it stays fun for you then there is no doubt that you will become very good! 😊
@@matticawood Thanks yeah piano has become more fun when I started doing piano lessons almost 2 years ago. It’s a rewarding experience when you can play really good tune wether it’s simple or a complicated piece.
Hi Matthew, thank you for your awesome feedback! It’s a great idea to write it down and extend it. Already thought about it. There are a few other interesting pieces I worked on. Probably I should do the work for all of them. Keep doing what you are doing. Your videos are great!
Hi Matthew!!! im the one who played the custom version of the La Campanella, people tend to mispronounce my name but its alright i understand (i am actually working on another piece, its a custom verison of Moonlight Sonata, and im thinking about showing it to you matthew and you guys, thank you for the Advice!)
Thank you! Everyone has been playing for different lengths of time and has different strengths and weaknesses so never worry about how well you play…as long as you enjoy it and keep practicing, you are doing great 😊
Hey Matthew! Your content is amazing I can’t wait to see more of your content. I love this idea to interact with your audience! You’ve earned a subscribe from me!
I'm playing at 3 years now, and I've passed the grade 5 abrsm exam last year, I've kind of taken a step back from the steady progression and instead practicing really difficult songs that I really like, for example Animenz's cover of Kaibutsu.
You’ve done a great job getting to grade 5, it’s good to take a break and learn other stuff though…many people go from grade 1-8 and never learn anything else so they miss out on so much of music. 😊
Hi matthew i love your videos! Ive been playing by ear for a year, but got a teacher since 3 months to learn reading sheet music. Your videos definitely help! Thank you
I like your videos, as a piano teacher as well this gives me a new eye on piano players's playing, I just was wondering from the camera angle we see your position seems too low compared to your keyboard, like it's not a 90° angle on your elbow, is there a reason for that ? thanks !
There sure is! It’s to keep myself and the keys in the frame. If I sit higher my head will bob in and out of shot…or if the keys are lower they won’t be seen. I’ve also tried the camera higher and facing down at a steeper angle…but that also looked very strange. So, I’d prefer to have the keys at a better height but it’s a small cost to keep everything in the frame 😊
@@matticawood Oh I didn't even consider that, as long as you are comfortable playing like that haha (I for sure would get tense), I think charles cornell uses a wider lens and has the camera further away from the keyboard to keep everything in frame
@@matticawood Do you wan't me to have the same layout in the text? I am indeed filming a vlog. If u only want to react to the piano, i will leave a timestamp in the description for when i start playing it. Otherwise if you are by some miracle intrested in how i feel. Make sure to watch the whole thing, or put the video itself in your description for others to watch since i will be going through my emotions and feelings before and after. Just lemme know if you wan't the same layout when i send it or if it should be different.

Matt how is the weight fir the keys on your Yamaha P45??? I have a Clavinova which the weight of the keys is pretty heavy but very responsive and my double notes are good. With my Casio privia not so much but it's a more portable piano than my Calvinova. I'm thinking about trading in my Privia and getting a heavier weighted keyboard. Thoughts?
I have a question.. If I practice a difficult classical piece (For eg: Rachmaninoff prelude in c sharp minor) on a 61 key plastic key keyboard and play that piece efficiently without mistake.....will it be very difficult to Play that same piece on a weighted key piano if I suddenly switch to one.
It will be difficult because you're not used to the piano keys being heavy so you won't be able to play really fast and smooth without tension. Once you get used to the weight of the keys it will be easy
Exactly…there also isn’t enough keys on a 61-key keyboard to play the prelude in C# minor. For the last 1/3 of the piece every chord would be either too low or too high, but the tension is the more important issue. You would also not be able to practice dynamics, sensitivity, voicing and other things that require you to have enough resistance in the key to be specific with how you play it 😊
The one thing I notice about self taught people is that their ability to stay on tempo is often atrocious. They slow down specific parts of a piece because they can't play them fast enough and for some reason don't realise they've slowed down. And then they speed back up once they've passed that part, until the next one. It's really jarring.
If you’ve sent it to me then it’s still there for a future video. They are selected at random by a generator, but there are a lot of submissions so it will come up eventually! 😊
This guy's a really talented player... however I would like to say something.....I find the volume of the piano much lower than his voice so the piano is not much audible....

Hi Mr.Cawood. I have a question.
How and why do fingers start to bleed when playing the piano for a long time?
They don’t? Unless you catch them on the corner of a sharp key or your piano is made from sharp objects 👀
Please react to "D's Adventure Note" from Piano Yomi
