It's decent, but by 2026 it will be ruined because they'll remove one or more chicanes to add a drs zone. When it comes to modern track design, passing opportunities are more important than a track that's nice to drive. I get I'm in the minority with my view.

Issue tracks haves theses days is even when they aim to make the passing more frequent. The corners prior to it are so fiddly that the car isn't close enough by the time they get to said overtaking spot.

The first sector seems nice, kinda fast with nice elevation change and that left handed that seems like a chicane almost seems like a flat out kink where you need to be brave and full throttle it to gain time.
The second and third sector are what bugs me cuz it’s just 90° corners until the start/finish straight, like Tilke couldn’t be bothered to continue and wanted to do something else instead lmao

The first sector seems great. It appears that f1 believes 90 degree corners must generate overtaking when we know that isn't the case.

@@ItsJustAGame10 I mean it can generate overtaking, provided it has a long straight before it (Azerbaijan and Singapore comes to mind)
But the 3rd sector doesn’t have any long straights so it’s just 90° after 90° and I can already see cars just following each other there waiting to get to the 1st sector

I don't think it's absolutely terrible tbh but it's also not that good and way too bumpy, there are definitely better candidates around. I think Catalunya gets a bit too much hate in the first place, but if we're looking for alternatives, why not Portimao? Okay it's not in Spain but it's in the Iberian peninsula at least, and it's an amazing track that's also tried and tested and that everybody loves. I'd even be fine with experimenting with Jerez or Estoril if only for one or two races.

Would be a great track to watch qualifying but the race maybe dull. I've never been a big admirer of Catalunya. I'd love Jerez but I'm pretty sure f1 are not aloud to race there anymore due to what happened in 1997. Portimao is an incredible track and I'd love it as a regular on the calender.

I mean, it’s not terrible…it just has that street track feel to it, especially in the mid/last sectors. It looks quite nice at speed, until those Mickey Mouse turns appear.

I think the first half of the track is very good. Then we get them 90 degree turns towards the end and it ruins it.

Nope, it's even worse. If I was either Domenicalli or FIA, I would never approve of the idea the Spanish Grand Prix to be held in Madrid. And I would make the 2026 cars to NOT look like the F2007 with halo and old Indycar aerodynamics, but like the 2010 specs but will not remove the DRS.

I get the removing of DRS but I do worry that overtaking will be a massive issue.
