It really cracked me up when people got all bent out of shape that Ian started doing food reviews. It's like, "Yeah, he managed to correctly predict what people wanted to see the old fashioned way without taking advantage of TH-cam's algorithms in an exploitative manner... And this upsets you... Why??"
I don't know why, but I remember as a kid that the plain Lay's were always used as a side to something, like barbecue or sandwiches, and it was the WAVY Lay's with the ridges that always got served at a family gettogether or a party paired with some sort of dip, usually a french onion. Anyone else had that experience or am I just an outlier? xD
I can’t relate but my household is usually a healthier house compared to the average American family. Only had chips on get togethers and it was usually Doritos lol.

When Ian described the Pringles container as "tubular" it took me a moment to realize he was talking about the literal tube shape and not just using a 90's synonym for "cool".
Pringles are F Tier for sure. They aren't even chips, they barely qualify as edible or food. Likely the most boring, uninspired, dull, emotionless snack on Earth is the Pringle.

The shipping can be a little pricey, but nothing is more fun than when you can ask someone to buy stuff for you from their local stores and you get to try foods from other countries. Fun fact: Brazil doesn't have the crunchy cheetos, they only have the puffs. whenever my partner's family from Brazil comes to the US, they eat crunchy cheetos at every possible opportunity. i was overexposed at after-school programs as a kid, so i don't like them but they're enamored with them
We do have them now! I actually prefer it over the puffs, as well. Now we just need to have them Flamin' Hot flavored - we only had Flamin' Hot things as a limited edition thing.

most people are with content creators for their content. if content changes then they are getting not what they joined for. Everyone here is for ian and does not care about anything else.
Its cause this has always been kind of a variety channel. Ian just makes videos on whatever he wants and people follow cause he makes them just weird enough to be interesting, but not so weird as to alienate people. he found the right balance
I'm glad Ian decided to take up food reviews. I can only speak for myself here, but I found his game reviews to be, well, quite dull in comparison to his food reviews.

Ian, I definitely think you should look into the “Miss Vickies Jalapeño” chips. They are salty with a nice crunch, and a little bit of a kick. These chips satisfy my taste buds every time I get them.
I’m glad somebody else shares my love for the Cheddar/sour cream ruffles. I don’t know why but they go absolutely perfect with regular Mountain Dew , would highly recommend the combo if you like both

I really want more kettle chips on the list. Hell maybe even a dedicated segment of kettle chips alone since they're really a genre of chips unto themselves. Cape Cod and Kettle Brand are the two that instantly come to mind, but Lays and others also have good footholds in the kettle chip market.

We need another episode of "The Essential Guide to Chips", next time would be good to review alternatives to the chips you reviewed in this volume (i.e more plain flavoured chips, more cheddar chips, new flavours of Takis, etc.)
The oil makes all the difference when frying, specially when it's one of the main ingredients, you can try it with popcorn, butter, sunflower, coconut, olive or corn oil all gives a different little thing to salted popcorn. In my family, corn oil popcorn is the one that everyone likes the most.
As a chip enthusiast I appreciate and support this series, my personal fave are the Lays Poppables white Cheddar both crunch and a nice flavor, followed by the Cheetos Crunchy Sweet Chili Heat
I'm a Christian so I would say a religiously charged chip would taste like a kettle chip but laced with honey. Perhaps light and with a slight taste of cardboard like Jesus's body/wafer but also with a slight taste of a kettle chip and honey. ...I like kettle chips. I don't follow politics so I don't know about that taste.

I don't even remember when your channel veered away from games, but every video is always a joy to watch! On the topic of chips, this is really interesting to see from a European perspective, where we have maybe 4-5 main brands of chips other than a supermarkets own value brands.
We need to talk about an excellent underrated chip Pizza Pringles. Also Dill Pickle Lays. Our Asian market has crab flavored lays and they are pretty good.

Fritos classic had to be an A- it’s very good and the corn flavor is really nice and tastes like a very good bagged up tortilla. A+ for my experience and A- for being kinda overwhelming.
I like Fritos as an idea. But I just got a bag of Fritos Scoops and they're too darn salty for my dip, in this case guacamole. You'd think they'd be perfect with guac.

I'll gladly watch more entries, especially if you get to dive into both "local" and imported chip brands and flavors. If you can find them, give Tom's Bacon and Cheddar Fries a chance. While they are a fry-shaped corn and potato snack, more commonly found in the American South-east in my experience, they have a nice crunch and strong flavor. I have quite fond memories of them, as they are what got me through my auto-body classes in high school.

I highly recommend Martin's brand chips. There's a ruffle style dipping chip, a cooked style chip, a BBQ one, and a sour cream and onion one. They are primarily based in the northeast apparently but they've made their way down to Northern Virginia somehow.
I was only able to find All Dressed chips in the Northeast US for a short period of time a few years back, and they were SO GOOD. The GOAT. I wish more people in the US would try them so they started selling them down here. We def have Ketchup chips and Dill Pickle chips here.
The uploads this month have been wonderful 💜 I've been a fan since 2012 and since the pandemic started I've introduced her to your channel and she absolutely loves it as much as I do, it's great being able to watch new releases together. This series looks great by the way!

The oil makes all the difference when frying, specially when it's one of the main ingredients, you can try it with popcorn, butter, sunflower, coconut, olive or corn oil all gives a different little thing to salted popcorn. In my family, corn oil popcorn is the one that everyone likes the most.
I use a little bacon fat for my popcorn, highly recommend!

As a chip enthusiast I appreciate and support this series, my personal fave are the Lays Poppables white Cheddar both crunch and a nice flavor, followed by the Cheetos Crunchy Sweet Chili Heat

I'm a Christian so I would say a religiously charged chip would taste like a kettle chip but laced with honey. Perhaps light and with a slight taste of cardboard like Jesus's body/wafer but also with a slight taste of a kettle chip and honey. ...I like kettle chips.
I don't follow politics so I don't know about that taste.

You should try lemon Takis, they aren't weird colored and they are sour+salty, which is a win-win, for me at least.
I've only seen Fuego and the occasional bag of some other flavor Blue Heat stocked in my neck of the woods when it comes to Takis.

I don't even remember when your channel veered away from games, but every video is always a joy to watch! On the topic of chips, this is really interesting to see from a European perspective, where we have maybe 4-5 main brands of chips other than a supermarkets own value brands.

Fritos classic had to be an A- it’s very good and the corn flavor is really nice and tastes like a very good bagged up tortilla. A+ for my experience and A- for being kinda overwhelming.
I like Fritos as an idea. But I just got a bag of Fritos Scoops and they're too darn salty for my dip, in this case guacamole. You'd think they'd be perfect with guac.

If you can find them, give Tom's Bacon and Cheddar Fries a chance. While they are a fry-shaped corn and potato snack, more commonly found in the American South-east in my experience, they have a nice crunch and strong flavor. I have quite fond memories of them, as they are what got me through my auto-body classes in high school.
I liked the black abyss a lot it was very (ironically enough) visually interesting.
I'm going to be in the chip aisle for twenty minutes watching this multiple times now every time I need to procure mineself a crunchy potato product. This is your fault Ian

I highly recommend Martin's brand chips. There's a ruffle style dipping chip, a cooked style chip, a BBQ one, and a sour cream and onion one. They are primarily based in the northeast apparently but they've made their way down to Northern Virginia somehow.
Martin's is the Sheetz of chips. Practically no one outside of the northeast has ever heard of it but everyone that has absolutely loves it

While living in Canada I fell in love with all dressed chips, its a tragedy they're not available in the states.

I was only able to find All Dressed chips in the Northeast US for a short period of time a few years back, and they were SO GOOD. The GOAT. I wish more people in the US would try them so they started selling them down here. We def have Ketchup chips and Dill Pickle chips here.
