    As someone who enjoys Magic Spoon, your video is honestly pretty refreshing for me. I know it's a bit of a fool's errand to expect people to be a bit more honest and open about a product that's sponsoring them, so it's cool to see someone actually speaking their mind about this.
    Definitely agree in that the price is insanely high, especially compared to most other cereals, but I guess what softens the blow for me is that I don't eat a ton of cereal in one sitting. So $40 of this stuff can last me several months.
    Also, I'm glad you didn't have to endure those damn "cereal protein bars" that they sold around a year or so ago. They were basically just a way worse version of the treat bars they sell now. Genuinely do not miss the taste of those things.

    • @Nylak-Otter

      I also like it, but I found a cheaper brand. I would still buy it full price, though. Protein is expensive, and I don't eat any meat and most animal products (some dairy such as the included milk protein, obviously), so I have to pay for it somewhere.
      I like it dry as a snack, personally, especially with honeyed mixed nuts for extra protein (and to make up for that low sugar bit, haha).
      If I need a sweet munchy, it may as well have protein in it!

      Ironically I was loving Magic Spoon well before it became another frequent YT sponsor. Most of them taste good to genuinely delicious to me, and most importantly, it doesn't contain pea protein like many other similar products; I have a very annoying pea allergy and with pea protein and pea fiber popping up everywhere in new "healthier" processed foods and beverages it's been frustrating. I resent the high cost, but since my stupid-ass body has forced me to give up sugar against my will, I'm grateful they exist so that I can have an occasional cereal fix without feeling like I'm dying. I had the 4-box monthly subscription so that brought the cost down to about $6 a box - still not great, but better. (I've had to cancel for now while I'm between jobs, which sucks.)
      Their only flavor that I thought was wretched was their knockoff Fruit Loops - that shit tasted like fucking Pine Sol. Peanut Butter, Maple Waffle, and Chocolate Chip Cookie are my favorites. I don't get a weird aftertaste from any of the flavors, and I appreciate that Peanut Butter has a salty note that feels like a grown-up version of Cap'n Crunch.

    the main problem is obviously the price, but also since it's made of milk protein it welds itself to your teeth and gets slimy. the amount in each bag was also really disappointing, i went through the 3 boxes we got in about 4 days. it was a nice-ish novelty that is NOT AT ALL worth the price even if you physically can't eat regular cereal.

    This new series is exactly what I've been wanting. I am so sick and tired of every TH-camr cramming sponsorships down our throats; as if having the increasing number of ads wasn't degrading the user experience enough. So seeing a show that actually takes an honest review of these products and services is a breath of fresh air.

    • @unknownlizbeth
      @unknownlizbeth 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      ...in their defense, and i know i sound like devil's advocate but hear me out, i was looking it up, they get paid a percentage from the ad revenue but if people skip the ads no money is made so youtube makes no money from it and therefore the creators don't get paid. a viewer would have to watch the whole ad for them to get paid; i forgot the exact percentage from the article i read but literally barely anyone watches the ad and doesn't skip. hence why there's more ads you can't skip these days, but there are ways around that too. these sponsorships might be the only money they make off youtube . however no one should quit their dayjob when trying to start a career on youtube ...

It tastes like you steeped fruit in the water to infuse it, which to me is a fantastic subtle taste. Instead of having to make lemon water, I can drink from the bottle. It's great. But that's just it, it's slightly flavored as if it was infused. I wanted that, but the average consumer has to understand and temper their expectations.

But in real tests they were shown to have really poor bass and treble response and the lows were unaturally boosted. I only bring up Raycon because audio the area I am most familiar with and hearing about those shit ass earbuds on every video gets old real fast. Also any company who willingly brands their products with corporate shill art style is to be avoided at all cost, I hate that bubbly generic crap. It tasted really weird, but i still see someone like the taste for a good reason.
      Most of them have this sugar replacement taste for people who can't eat too much sugar but still want some sweets. It tastes like less sweet corn syrup and the recognizable bad aftertaste.
      Around 9 years ago i was told by a doctor to replace normal cane sugar with this sugar replacement. First few weeks are rough only because of the aftertaste, but the rest are okay since i'm already used to the aftertaste, which i think the same reason why some people thought magic spoon is not bad.
      But in general, they're not good, especially with the horrible price.

    I've been trying to cut carbs so I picked up a box at the grocery store. One thing going for it compared to other low carb cereal is that it's actually edible. The other two I've tried (I've forgotten the names) were like cardboard or dog kibble. Magic Spoon still isn't worth the price, but I might pick another box up if I get another craving for cereal.

  • @samangelo2574
    @samangelo2574 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +117

    Costco offers 3 bags of Magic Spoon in one box for nearly the price of a standard retail store, which definitely makes the taste a bit more palatable. However, I think they only offer the fruity flavor, and - like someone else in the comments mentioned - the milk protein makes the cereal stick to your molars, so it makes the eating experience less enjoyable. I'm also not looking to replace nutritionally dense breakfasts with something that is just a macro filler.
    I've tried 3 different keto/high-protein cereals: Magic Spoon, Catalina Crunch, and Three Wishes
    Three Wishes is my favorite so far regarding texture, ingredients, macros, and price point. That said, yeah, it's common sense cereal isn't supposed to replace whole foods when it comes to breakfast (or any meal for that matter), but it's fine sparingly or as a quick pre- or intra-carb snack for workouts. I think it's perfectly fine to use as a supplemental calorie/macro, but you'd be better off doing something much cheaper.
    Definitely subscribed and am stoked to see more stuff. I'll be waiting for you to cover Factor/Hello Fresh. The concept of saving time on meal prep and having macro-friendly meals definitely appeals to me, but the price and some of the photo-reviews definitely keep me from giving them my money.

      I’m in a Discord server with a married couple that said they really liked Factor. I’m glad they were able to feel like they get their money’s worth both food wise and enjoyment wise. I also think it’s a nice concept if you can afford Factor/Hello Fresh, but I just can’t support the HF company. They’ve done some pretty bad stuff like union busting, unsafe working conditions, the Thai coconut milk being sourced from Thai farms that use forced monkey labor to get the coconuts, plus more I’m probably not aware of. Very scummy company, so every time I see a sponsored segment for them it makes me cringe. Same for BetterHelp but that’s a whole other can of worms.

      might want to be careful if you can't have sugar, there's been research that shows allulose ( a sweetener in magic spoon) can actually be processed the same way as sugar by the body, and labelling it sugar free might have been wrong.

    • @AngelHalo017
      @AngelHalo017 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I concur. I enjoyed most of the flavors, and it's been great for my full time job when I simply don't have the time to make my usual eggs and toast or don't want to prepare overnight Oats. This has been a life saver in that regard. My only issue is the price tag. I may bite once in a while unless I find a good deal on me. Cheapest I found was $5 clearance which was definitely a better price. There was also a double package deal for $12 that I jumped on and wish I got more. As for taste, it's hit and miss. I'm used to sweetener taste; been using Stevia for a decade for what would had normally been sugary beverages. I didn't get that impression, but I will say that I did enjoy eating it.
      Overall, love the cereal brand, but the price certainly kills it. Some decent alternatives (but certainly big on acquired taste), consider Catalina Crunch, Special K Keto, or Eat Your Mouth Out.

      @@MyNamesNotLars1 my problem isn’t really with disliking people that purely follow trends. It’s just that the term “normies” is used by a specific subset of touch-starved neckbeard redditors who think they’re one of the “different ones”, lol. I think it’s cringeworthy because I always imagine a neckbeard typing it out with Cheeto fingers, but you do you, homie.
