I am going to be honest here. I hate this is a Mandela effect that is not real with me, but when Riddle is saying, "What have I done to deserve this mistreatment?!" I thought it was a line lil Azul said in chapter 3, when we find out about his childhood and how other merkids treated him. Which made me thought that Floyd, remembering that event just had a mood drop, and gave Riddle the book back. Feeling horrible that he he made Riddle feel like Azul once did in the past as well as making Riddle feel like he was bullying him, when that was far form the truth.
Why do i expect Floyd to be around when Riddle returns home for his own Central Event? I can just imagine Floyd getting pissed at how strict Riddle's mom is and sincerely wanting to stand up for Riddle but maybe understands this is a battle between his Li'l Goldfish buddy and Mrs. Rosehearts. I dunno. There is just something wholesome about the idea of Floyd wanting to be there for Riddle when he needs to return home, since Trey is not allowed to. Aside from Floyd who probably only comes because Jade cannot for one reason or another (most likely Mostro Lounge reasons) I can imagine Jack and Rook joining since Floyd, Rook and Jack are the only NRC students who have not gained special skins for visiting a classmate's home town. Aside from Ruggie if memory serves... Granted this does not guarantee that they will be the only combo of students when and if there is a Riddle goes home Event. But something tells me that it is the combo that makes the most sense.
Yes he has a massive crush on him, he wants to crush goldfishie/j Nah but it does make sense tbh, he respects riddle a lot even when teasing him he rarely goes far and like its floyd we're talking about😅
