Here's a joke that has both Australia and Canada in it for you Tash.
Some blokes were sitting around in the bar, located in in their Outback community, having a pint, when in walks a stranger. The stranger orders a beer and sits down at an empty table, and appears to get lost in his thoughts. The regulars at the bar are curious about the man as he didn't have an accent that they recognized and they didn't get many strangers this far out. After awhile one of the locals goes up and greets the man, asking him where he's from. The man responds, "Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.". The local man looked at him for a moment, then he smiled, touched his hand to his hat, and says "Thank-you". He then returns to the bar, and the guys want to know what the stranger said, "No idea fellas, he doesn't speak English." It's not the best of jokes, but it's the only joke I know that features both of our countries, lol!

@AussieTash: Chris is the first Canadian to command the International Space Station. You know about Hatfield’s cover of Bowie’s song. Did you know that David’s record company forbid NASA to release it, due to copyright? David overruled their decision and allowed it.
While we are a small country, within the last 30 years or so, the Canadian Space Agency has been growing and providing assistance to NASA and the European Space Agency. When the Avro Arrow program was shut down, in 1959, Canada lost a lot of good aviation experience. The people all went to NASA. At the time, it was one of the fastest planes ever made. However, these aircraft were made to shoot down Soviet bombers. In the late 50’s, both the USA and the Soviets switched to ICBMs. It really made the aircraft obsolete. There were other reasons as well.
Canada has also developed its own nuclear reactor technology, one of the safest in the world. It started after WW2. It differs from most world systems in that the by product of used fuel does not produce very much plutonium. The type needed for icbms. The CANDU system can also use spent material from American type reactors as a fuel source.

Schitt's Creek was a great sitcom. I watched the Emmys in 2020 when they were nominated in so many categories JUST to see how the Americans would deal with the name. Their policy was, always show the name onscreen when they had to say it. They won 15 Emmys; I was crying with laughter on the floor watching.

Nefie pilot says to his co pilot, Jeb, thats the shortest runway I've ever seen, does that look short, copilot says yes captain that's the shortest. Pilot says , we are gonna have to work hard to land this plane so when I say full flaps you put on full flaps, right captain, then ill yell out reverse engines and put it in full reverse, right captain, den when she touches down ill yell out full breaks and we both stomp on dem brakes ready? Right captain. FULL FLAPS, copilot puts on full flaps, REVERSE ENGINES, captain puts engines to reverse, BRAKES the plane starts screeching and bucking and comes to a stop right at the end of the runway. Captain looks over at Jeb and says that was the shortest runway I've ever landed on and Jeb says ya but look how WIDE it is.

The beer reference is because Canadian beer is stronger than US beer. I had an American cousin that bragged he "Could drink anyone under the table." Four beers in and one of us was under the table...and it wasn't me. We called American beer "pony piss."
Regarding polar bears, I wanted one as a kid but we were poor so our family could only afford a grizzly. I was relentlessly mocked by the other kids at school.😢 As for moose, seriously if you were facing an adult male you would probably be looking at his kneecaps. I love them too, but prefer there is a very chain link between us.

no. 694 here. In the video at 3:02 you see a barren island - Hans Island. Canadians and the Danish both lay claim to the island. It's been called the friendliest war ever. When the Danes go do military practice on the island, they leave a bottle of schnapps for the Canadians. When the Canadian military go to the island they leave a bottle of whisky for the Danes with a note saying "Welcome to Canada".

Hey Tash! love the videos, you're always so sweet and sincere in your desire to learn. I think you'd enjoy doing a whole react video about Stompin Tom Connors. he was a Canadian folk singer who literally travelled the country like a hobo in his youth, and wrote folk songs about places he'd seen, people he'd met and important events in canadian history and culture. some are very satirical and jovial and others are quite serious and about historically significant events. for example one song is literally about potatoes and tomatoes, another is about the tobacco harvest in southern ontario, and then there are serious songs about events in history. one about a bridge collapse, a mine fire, and the miracle girl. (which is a story in itself look up Erica Nordby)

We technically all Canadians can have a polar bear or Moose. However, there are some organizations and wildlife parks in Canada that allow people to "adopt" a polar bear or moose symbolically by making a donation. In this case, the donation helps support conservation efforts and the care of the animals in the park or sanctuary.

Happy Monday Tash: I watched both these videos with no problems at all. I have seen them before but got a real kick out of your reactions. The statue of the moose is "Mack the Moose" in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Norway also has a statue of a moose and they claimed theirs was larger than "Mack" and there was a rivalry about that for a couple of years between Moose Jaw and Norway. When you come to Canada, definitely check out Moose Jaw. During the 1920's and Prohibition in the U.S. Al Capone was said to have "hung" out in Moose Jaw. There are tunnels beneath the city and that is where he was supposed to have stayed. The Bronfman family of Seagram's Whisky fame was originally from near Moose Jaw and rumour has it that Al Capone and the Bronfman's had some kind of "deal" going on. Chris Hadfield (the astronaut) is definitely Canadian.

Omg. Cross country canada, a dos based text input game on the school computers in the 90's. It was my favourite. You could actually tell it to take your searbelt off, (long haul truck driver), and also speed, but both increased likely hood of either crashing, or being pulled over and fined, which came out of the total you "earned" at the end of your game session. I forgot about that game. Don't quote me, but came around the time of pentium 1 286 computers (yes, i just dated myself. Lol) but i enjoyed it. I wonder if anyone makes that as an emulator.
