My girlfriend and I hung out in Railay Beach about ten years ago. Epic. Beautiful. We stayed on the east side for the more affordable prices, and just walked though to the west side whenever we wanted. Lots of rain during our stay, but a lot of chill fun in the sun too, with incredible beauty surrounding us at all times.
Railay its my favorite place in whole thailand. Amazing ! Positive vibration in the air. A nice and not expensive hotel its the “avatar”. They have a “9” in booking.com

I'm Thai and can say that this is a good video reviewing. Your recommendation is much useful for foreigners. We will wait for the normal travel situation comming back then. Thanks
👋🏻👋🏻😊Looks so peaceful and quiet there. Need to get there ASAP to relax our house is a mad house right now with kids and their friends.🤪🤪 Stay safe🙏 and Stay great😎.
The island selection around Krabi is super neat - all the island beaches and beaches in general in THL are first class - something for everyone Thanks CP 🇦🇺👍🙏
I’m sorry to say, Chris, as far as Tonsai is considered you’re perhaps 8-10 years too late. Tonsai was amazing back then, very laidback and not a single resort property developer to be spotted. There were little bamboo cafe’s/restaurants directly on the beach. Plenty of ‘Happy’ dishes to eat and psytrance music to vibe to through the night. I was shocked when I returned to Tonsai a few years ago, it had lost all of its magical charm. Sure, it looks nice and family-friendly but it’s previous hippy vibe has been completely steamrolled over by commercial property development.
I just completed my second stay at the Tinidee. In November I stayed 1 night and 2 nights this month. I found it originally due to this video. It's a nice quiet place. Tonsai Bay Resort has picked up quite a bit since November. Sadly the back side is still fairly abandoned. Be sure to eat at Mama's Chicken.
Man. I was there in 2007 it was so nice back then. Now I don’t know. Planing my next trip for 2024 and thanks for making this video, so I won’t be disappointed when I’m back at tonsai. Loved this 150baht bamboo huts 😅
I stayed on Tonsai for a week in 2007. Slept right where Tinidee resort is now, but the property was owned by a Canadian guy from Vancouver named Titus, and he had just set up tents you could rent nightly for like 50 baht. He had an outdoor movie theatre set up where that big tree hanging over the beach is, we’d all just chill and watch movies at night. Saw a base jumper eat shit off that big cliff, too, but he was okay in the end haha
Thank you for sharing a variety of location in your videos. I hope to visit Thailand when the pandemic is over and you have showed me a variety of places from the busy to calm place to chill.
Hi Chris, thank you so much for another wonderful look into these deserted paradise destinations, our favourite beach from the past was the main beach in Kho Tao. We are hoping to go to Paradise beach in Phuket, dancing and then to Kho Phi Phi for a week so hope you will show us a glimpse of these two places at some stage, after this video though it looks as though Krabi may have to be added to the list of must visit destinations. Keep up these wonderful videos and enjoy these quiet moments in the land of smiles your efforts are spreading the love.
I love every minute of this video! I’ve never been to Krabi - this video totally made me feel like I should go there when things get better!! Thanks for sharing this entertaining and informative video! 🤍✨
Can Confirm, I was stuck on Tonsai Beach until late May 2020. There is a trail through the jungle to Railay and you can walk on low tide from Railay to Krabi. It was a fantastic time!
Well, I spent most of my time rock climbing, lounging on the beach, snorkeling and fishing for squid from kayak. There was a period when we weren’t supposed to be climbing but it wasn’t enforced in Tonsai. We generally stuck to the cliffs back in the jungle to avoid being seen by boats in the bay. Really, it was like the crowds cleared out in March and we had paradise all to ourselves for 3 months.
Great video. Always wanted to fo to go to Koh Sumui with my Thai wife. Just what I want. Hopefully early 2022 will be back in Thailand after getting the vaccine in Australia. Miss wife and kids but what is keeping me going is that its not far away. Miss and love Thailand so much. Joop. Thanks Chis so much for your videos. Means so much for me because it gives me at least something during these hard times.
Hey there. I stayed in Ao Nang last year just before all this went down and spent a day on Railay. Absolutely gorgeous place. Tonsai looks great too. Definitely want to go back soon.
Chrisss!!! You dit it again: put a smile on my face buddy! Thanks for this wonderful review, cooperation with the drone pilot, it looked all sooo professional and most of all... your enthusiasm!! Your great and a true ambassador of Thailand!!
Great if you could visit and show us some of the amazing lesser known islands around Thailand, for example the Trat Islands, Ko Muk, Ko Ngai, Ko Kradan, Ko Rok. I was on Ko Ngai about 15 years ago for a few days it was heaven on earth😎
Great content comparing some options on Tonsai Beach, Chris. Loved the integration of the drone footage. That limestone cliff is massive. Really puts things in perspective. I'll consider Tonsai Beach in the future when Mrs. J and I need to get away. Thanks. Subscribed, liked, and shared via Twitter (@ThaiVlogger). It seems you love going back to Krabi beaches as often as you can, Chris. The last time I was in Railay, the beaches were so overcrowded, especially Phra Nang Beach. Maybe Tonsai beach would be a better option. Personally, I prefer Klong Muang Beach, with this small beautiful island you can walk too at the west end of the beach. Very different to Railay, but what a scenery!
I dont know now but 2004 Tonsai was super chill out plaza to be. I can see all the beach side hippie bars has gone. Daytime climbers went up to rock top and evening they did a base jump to the beach.
Was Adam your drone guy? Beautiful beach and resort. Thanks for the tour. It's so sad the tourist are still being kept away by restrictions. Hopefully things open up soon. Thanks Chris Parker
I was in Ao Nang last February and went to Tonsai, West Railey and Phra Nang beaches. Tonsai was definitely the quietest of the 3 but there were a few people there
Same here, 2010 first and only time I went there, it really developed... I think I paid like 100 bath a night in the jungle at the time... Lovely bars in Tonsai btw with a variety of chill delicatessen :)
We visited Tonsai last March just before lockdown, and it was really empty then, just before the world stopped. I lay in a hammock at the beach bar there thinking ‘when will I ever get to be in a place like this with so few people again?’ Paradise, real chill vibe. Thanks Chris!
Brilliant inclusion of drone footage! (Though the quad prop buzz noise is quite polluting at the end). Good thing you're making/inventorying this content now while few folks are around.
I spend time at there every year before for climbing and relax peoples there very nice we feel like family then i decided to move stay ao nang and never think to leave there again until now
Thanks Chris another great video. And thanks for telling us about budget accommodation this time. Many of your previous recommendations were way out of my expense range. I am living in Thailand on a small pension from Canada. As you know the Canadian dollar does not stand up well against the Thai baht. When I first came to Thailand it would only cost me about $3 CAD for 100 baht BUT now by the time I pay the exchange rates and the money transfer rates it costs me almost $5 Canadian dollars for 100 baht. So thanks for showing us the lodging in the jungle area. I can fit that kind of place into my budget. :-)
What's your favorite beach in Thailand?
Kor samet for me
Koh Ma, you were just there!
Koh Poda... with Railay right up there too.
Railay, Lamai Koh Samui, and Ao Nang Beach. Pretty while any beach in Thailand are great 👍
Chaloklum on Koh phangan

East side is way far more expensive than west😉
@@luceinbattaglia9425 Not accurate .. in my experience. Chris even says how the east side is less expensive in one of his Railay vids. Go watch. :)

this is a great idea for a video series. being able to film them empty, and with drone footage, is fantastic too.

The video quality in these is absolutely stunning. Wonderful job and great idea for a series.
Loved the cheap place in the jungle, reminds me of my old 80 baht a nice bungalow in Samui back in the 90s
