I remember our family having a wolf named Lobo when I was very, very young. My dad always tells the story of the times all the dogs in the neighborhood would be barking, and then Lobo would join in with a howl, and allll the dogs would immediately go quiet. Almost like they were going "What the fuck was that?!?" I miss you Lobo, even if i don't remember you all that well.

@@leonaswwife His howl is also sad.. and lonely.. not to say he isn't happy, or doesn't feel loved.. but, there is something he is missing... you can hear it in his howl. I used to track wolves with my aunt and uncle.. their howls are very expressive.

@@USMC0311CplJackson the thing is this isn't a wolf...its a wolfdog that grew up in a human house with an older husky as his friend. Very different from a pure, wild wolf. If anything I'd bet he's disappointed or confused (or just enjoying himself), but I highly doubt he's lonely.

His howls definitely seemed sad, and low energy... that was a greeting / who is out there howl.. but it was.. its almost like a depressed version. But like you said... maybe he doesn't know how to communicate with howls.. and just does whatever.

My best friend and neighbor was upset when I told him about another neighbor's wolf. He wanted to report him to Animal Control saying purebred and even Wold-Dog breeds are illegal in San Diego county without special permits. It was a knee-jerk reaction because his own grandchildren live in the same vicinity and he didn't want to risk any chance whatsoever that this wolf could get loose and eat his grandchildren.
All the dogs in the neighborhood be like: "Why do i hear boss music??" 🤣

A wolfs howl can be heard up to 10 miles away, in open terrain that is and by a wild wolf. Im pretty sure Kane isnt using his the same way a wild wolf would, even tho he probably could.

I know the neighbors probably don't always appreciate the howls but tbh if I was your neighbor I would find it soothing to hear that ethereal-sounding wolf howl every day.

I grew up with a malamute in the lot behind us. I didn't mind the howling...I just minded it being at 5-6 am.

I used to have a wolf/husky hybrid. His howls when he was outside would vibrate our whole house. Words can't describe how beautiful it is!

Not really. He has social interaction and a pack (Harvey and their human) and has grown up in captivity so knows no other kind of "pack". His social needs are more then met. I doubt he's very concerned over not getting a response. Disappointed or confused maybe but only briefly.

Ive always wanted a wolfdog but i know they’re harder to take care of due to needing more exercise. Id love to hear about how you trained Kane and the journey of raising a beautiful and healthy wolfdog like Kane.

He's figured out that he can rest a lot of his weight on the rail like a lazyboi, but it prob is just too much weight on his lil elbow joints to keep up for too long without discomfort -still comical/fun that he figured it out and does it, however 😄👍.

My husky wolf mix was howling & talking one time while i was making her dinner. All the wild coyotes around howled too. She howled and they howled back. They went back and forth for a while. It was chilling to hear how close the coyotes were and yet pretty cool how the sounds that came out of my dog even the coyotes understood lol. Wish i caught that on camera but my phone wasn't any where nearby.

I'm surprised they don't all join in. When I stay at my wife's place in Thailand the local neighborhood dogs do late night concerts in unison. There's about seven of the from different houses, that all sleep outside and do the howling chorus several times every night.
