You do realize what a gift you give to people around the world, don’t you? You show us the beauty of ALL human souls! You bring the reality of the shared kindness that is out in the world while the Media tries to get us to believe that only evil exists in certain areas! You are a blessing! Keep it up and share the love! 🙏🏼❤️

I've found that the best cure for seasickness is being outside, in a place where you can SEE the sea.
Motion sickness, of any kind, is usually caused by a disparity between what you can see and what you can feel.
Staying in a cabin will only ever make it worse.
Spent 30 years working aboard ships and I'd only ever start to feel seasick when I was concentrating on my job and ignoring my surroundings.
Go and have walk around for 5 minutes and the feeling would subside again.
    Similar thing with carsickness.
If you're concentrating on your phone, with the window closed, you'll get motion sickness.
Put down the phone, open a window, look outside and you'll feel much better.

    • @sjbock
      @sjbock 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Yes, to avoid motion sickness on a ship if you stare at the line where the water and the sky meet it can help prevent nausea. You can do this outside or sit inside and look out a window. In a car, stare at the road ahead, don't try to read a book.

I used to get car sea sickness in my Grandparents land yacht. It was a late 1970's Cadillac. I was used to riding and feeling all the bumps and road noise. Without it I got quesy.

As a former sailor, though not prone to seasickness, A good thing to have handy is soda crackers. Plain is best. They give you something to have in your stomach, if you can't keep food down. If you are feeling nauseous, it gives you something to have in your stomach to prevent the dry heaves and possible internal problems.

I loved this adventure! It reminded me of trips on passenger and cargo ferries I took on my travels back in the 1980s--principally in Greece/Turkey, and Washington State/western Canada. The look and atmosphere of that ship is sooo familiar! Back then in the olden days of slow, analog travel, no internet, just chatting and hanging out with strangers. this sort of experience was common. It's reassuring to me that it still exists somewhere out there. I was luckier than you though in that I don't get seasick! I think you would've enjoyed it far more if you'd felt better. Still, you did an admirable job adjusting your modern, millennial pace to the tempo of the 20th century! I hope you'll always enjoy the memories. And for me, I'll just add that it was really nice not to see everyone wearing masks, and to be able to forget about covid nightmare world for half an hour. Thanks so much for the video!

Something strange happens when you travel by sea. It's almost as if you slip into a different reality, time itself seems to pass differently. It's as if you breathe in when you board the ship but don't breath out until you disembark. As the Scythian philosopher, Anacharsis said - “There are three sorts of people; those who are alive, those who are dead, and those who are at sea.”

I have travelled on a cargo ship a couple of times. There really isn't very much to do but I did enjoy a particular occasion in which the crew invited all the passengers on deck for a BBQ. Eating salmon and king prawns whilst the vessel drifted between multiple oil rigs was pretty cool. And the rooms themselves were plenty comfortable. I was fortunate in the respect that I was in a cabin with a single bed and shower.

The Blacksea is deep and dark so much so that much of its depths are de oxygenated all year round and only those winter storms mix O2 into the mid layers.
The effect though is anything that sinks in it is preserved it doesnt rot or rust ...
Remember thats the sea of Jason and the Argonauts and even earlier.... Where wine was first made.. and apples grown.

I use to work on cruise ships. Those rough sea days were always my favorites. I'll never forget bouncing around the Med on some of those cruises. The best (or worst depending on how you see it) was when we had 12 meter waves and the captain didn't use stabilizers. We were en route to a dry-dock so there were only crew on board. It was an experience.

I live in Michigan by one of the freshwater seas; where the blue water bridge is, and there are chances to take a cruise on a tanker. They even used to have one's way back on the famous Edmund Fitsgerald, which was the Titanic of the great lakes in Michigan. They're actually really nice, from what i have heard, good food and lots of time to look out over the lakes and the rooms are really nice.

I've been on a wild ride on a ship myself. Was on a cruise ship in the Gulf Of Mexico during Hurricane Ike. The captain would keep us in calm water during the day and then nose directly into the storm at night to get back on course. I felt sorry for the crew because they had endless messes to clean up including mine when I aimed for the toilet to puke but somehow missed. They were passing out sea sickness meds like free Halloween candy. Only time I've ever been sick on a boat and I spend A LOT of time out on the lake on my own 17' 7" fishing boat with the water sometimes pretty rough.

My travels in the US are bittersweet, there's a lot of pain and growth, obstacles to overcome... and for me interpersonal relationships and being taken advantage of by people here in my country who lack morals. You've given me and my partner a window into places on the other side of the world, and along with your experiences has been a rekindling of our faith in humanity. Things are really rough over here in the States, socially, and I just really resonate with who you are as a person, and I never want to lose these beautiful aspects of our shared humanity. I am relieved you are tucking in for the winter, and I really REALLY look forward to what you decide to do come spring. I love to see how you hold up under virtually unavoidable boredom and seasickness and such and to empathize with you through a "veil of love" and virtually feel your boredom and seasickness. But not that I would deliberately or carelessly seek out or encourage boredom and seasickness for you or me or anyone else. And watching this video once is enough. There are plenty of additional great videos of yours to watch. And yes, this video is definitely educational. It gives me a good idea of travel options I might consider. And it tells me one more important fact. Namely, Eva does not like to be bored and seasick. Many, many thanks for doing this video, Eva!
