Hell, people think I'm crazy now for not really being on board with just getting all my games on PC. A lot of the things you talked about in this video are in the same boat, man. The politics, the masturbatory approach to graphics, casualization, lack of creative risks, etc.
Oh my god, thats exactly how i felt with Sonic X Shadow Generations, when i pointed out SEGA trying to force people to buy digital copies to get DLC free as well as calling them out for blatantly only making the game to rewrite things for brownie points, i got dogpiled and made fun of for months throughout the entire hype cycle for the game, it was the most insufferable buildup to a video game launch i had ever experienced, i even had my mental health problems and abusive situation made fun of necause i said SEGA were destroying the one thing keeping me sane, they literally made fun of me when i was feeling s*icidal, everyone around you is just a privileged sheep that never listens and blindly follows

Let this sink in for a second.....we are almost 5 years into this PS5/Series X generation (thats almost HALF a decade) and it still has barely picked up any momentum. Back in the PS2 days, the console was already firing on all cylinders by the 2nd year on the market with big heavy hitter games. Meanwhile we are almost on year 5 of the PS5 and the console is struggling to still put out the true next gen games. GTA6 is still a long ways off, Elder Scrolls 6 is also missing in action, the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes are MIA (etc...). This console generation has become useless. At this point, it would be better to just skip the PS5 and wait for the PS6.

The most eloquent commentary on the state of modern gaming I've ever heard! Absolutely hit the nail on the head! For the last 10 or so years we are being brainwashed into accepting a digital future where we don't own anything and are willing to throw our money at live service slop so when it shuts down, it was just all for nothing. Wasted money!
It fills me with hope whenever I see more people like us rejecting the modern dayisms of the gaming industry. I know a spot in New Mexico where they can bury themselves with all their live service slop
I got sick of the console gaming industry when I started to realize that every generation of the things had the same games just repackaged in a different container. How many "different" shooters do i need before I start to realize I already have 30+ of them on the previous consoles. After that I stopped. I keep my eye out for unique games with one of a kind storytelling on consoles or pc's but even that's starting to become a chore because I keep ending up disappointed. I've tossed the modern game industry aside for it's predecessors. I've tossed modern Hollywood aside for the older movies with more unique storylines. Everything we're seeing for 20 years seems like a coordinated plan by corporations to control us and ruin what was once loved. They hate us because they hate themselves. Well I don't care. They can hate themselves all they want. I'll just pop in some piece of legacy media from a time when artists had talent and these corporations can go _____ (fill in the blank).
After being recommended "everything i miss about older games" video and now this, I resonate so much. I never got into gta beyond chest codes at a friends place, never liked games like red dead redemption, the last of us, god of war, dark souls... You name it. I was always more into the nintendo style by also having a couple other ps2 games as my core memory. Subbed, I'm loving your thoughts and I hope these topics get more light shone on them. Have a great day!
@@GrumpyCat97 Most 360s died. A lot of people care about exclusives. Ps2 was still peak. 360 had Oblivion which had horse armor which lead to the downfall of humanity.
Youre absolutely correct when you say we most likely didn't look you up. The algorithm guided me here. I still mainly go physical though, i only buy a digital game if its $10 USD or less amd even then I use that version as a test to see if i want an actual copy.
I said this many times, but it doesn't hurt to repeat. There is too much money involved in the industry. As in music and movie industry, wrong motives are driving the business. And this won't change. What can change is your expectation. Play older games, play indie games, and play Nintendo games. And, I don't mind buying remastered/reboot/remake games if they are done with passion, like RE2 or SH2 are. I hope more will follow soon.
I still have lot of my old gba, gamecube, Wii, ds, and 3ds games. I'll admit though, the convenience of being able to download a game from the comfort of my home took over, as a result most of my switch games are digital copies. Makes me wish I had bought the physical copies instead but, I don't really consider myself a hard-core gamer so, I don't know how much of a difference it makes for me personally. I don't even really play games all that much anymore to be honest.
At least with steam theyve made it clear that when we buy a game we do own it, u can play all ur games offline and if steam were to die wed get to keep our games.
I think it's a matter of perspective. I think we have more flops than we used to. We have agendas being pushed and some franchises being hit with management issues. We also have some of the best games ever. This year alone, we have palworld, helldivers 2, silent hill 2, prince of persia the lost crown, call of duty black ops 6, dragon dogma 2, final fantasy 7 rebirth, black myth wukong, another crabs treasure, grandblue fantasy relink, metaphor refantazio, dragon ball sparking zero, and even indian jones from the previews sounds amazing. Final Fantasy 16 on pc and so many other awesome pc versions of games. Indie games and early access like hades 2. If you view everything negative in gaming, you can't appreciate the good. Even cod, I am happy paying 70 dollars when everyone gets all the dlc. Now you can get games like Cold War on sale for 20 dollars with all dlc. You can hate gaming, or you can support the decent stuff. Appreciate the good stuff because there are too many negative videos online.
To chime in with my opinion (this really has nothing to do with the video) but I find it funny how people say the og re2 was just a low poly ps1 game.. yet as a fan of resident evil (it literally changed me, and got rid of my fear of zombies) that low poly ps1 game has more soul than a game from 2019 with next gen graphics.. course this depends on person to person. But just find it funny, how legit “good” (for resident evil) the writing was in the original.
I hear that. I wont even play any of the RE Remakes that come out. If I'm gonna sit down and play RE it's on the PS1 on my CRT Dang It! IMO the technical limitations of the PS1 made those games somehow more special. Atmospheric and Down Right Scary as Hell!
@ personally I don’t hate them out right, they’re good games themselves. I just wish it wasn’t necessarily remakes. When done good, I enjoy remakes. I just think they destroyed the soul, and story of the original. Rpd is fantastic in both, and the horror is awesome in the both of them. It’s just each character in the re2 remake feel like different people. Irons is full blown creeper, Annette is the worst mother in gaming. Claire is.. Jesus I don’t even know what to say about Claire. Leon is a douche, same for Ada. Every character was changed for no reason, and for a game in 2019, you’d think different. But, a game from 98 has more soul and writing than a modern game. It’s sad, really sad.
Modern gaming is one giant scam. I've been saying this for the last 5 years. The only console I buy games for anymore is the Switch. I sold my PS5 a few months back. Biggest waste of money ever. I was already on the fence about buying one and only did so because a friend talked me into it.
I remember playing Hi-Fi Rush and getting classic Game Cube and PS2 vibes, felt like I was playing Sega All Stars or Mario Kart Double Dash by the vibes of it BUT y'know what? it's not the vibes, its because those previous games actually made me happy or entertained me, it "Sparked joy" and there are games from that time that didn't do that, and those games felt like today's games. The point is good games no matter the year or console will make you happy and bring you back to when you felt that more often with games while bad games will bore or upset you to the point where the games feel and probably are a waste of time and energy. LONG STORY SHORT Good games no matter where it was released - they will still be fun while bad games will upset you.
@syedshamrezrehanshahkazmi3324 I do agree with you, but did you also have a huge grin on your face when playing Hi-Fi Rush. I'm not gonna lie, I actually teared up at one point because I forgot what it was like to have that much fun in a video game.
@@Tenacityfromtheglass I did LOL - I suck at rhythm games - like I wanted so badly to be good at DJ Max but never could - yet this game made me want to be better because the art, the world, the game play, and the overall vibe was SO fun and lively. Love the message here brother but it's one of those things where it's just not that simple to scale it back, as much as I wish it were. Fiduciary responsibility to meet profit goals to investors at the large studios (Rockstar, for example) mandates that these companies have to go for complex development blockbusters with a mega return on that investment. And the other sad part of this is that we're too far down the rabbit hole. Devs have started making games with meticulous detail/frivolous additions, and that genie is just out of the bottle now. No one can realistically come out and spin a marketing message of "yeah guys listen to this! We're gonna make our games smaller with less bloat, You can beat them in half the time and they'll be better. Still $70 btw." Thats perfect for you and I, but Joe dick and Sally mainstream gamer is just going to hear "you're paying more for less game." A lot of the things you talked about in this video are in the same boat, man.

Bro I don’t even think game developers made a game yet that has pushed Xbox ps5 to its limits
@@MafiaAt2amLIVE My guy, they had 5 years to do it. Thats more than enough time.
When we have people who outright hate gamers working on games, it's clear that we have a problem.
Pffft! Rockstar is releasing GTA games all the time!!! It’s just that it’s always 5 🤣
So that's what they meant by the definitive trilogy 😂
I gotta disagree about that xbox 360 being peak gaming statement. If anything, that's when it all started to go wrong. PS2 was peak gaming
well at least the early days of 360 was good
From PS2 to 360 is really strong. It started to go wrong towards the tail end leading up to Xbox one
@ 360 only had three games and that was halo 3, gears of war and lost odyssey
@@SweetLuups no one cared about exclusives, just pick any game and have fun, besides most games run better in 360 than PS3

Appreciate the good stuff because there are too many negative videos online.
everything I have been saying! good shit
Thanks, man! I actually watch a lot of your channel. Those Harman Smith video's! 😂
nope, I always collected physical because I have hindsight and I'm not a fucking moron.
Did you really find NOTHING to enjoy on your PS5? Or were you just playing the same slop day in and day out?
I replay ff10 and ff10-2, persona 4, persona 3 fes, gta sa, gta vice city, gta 4, gears of war games, fav concle ps2

Good games no matter where it was released - they will still be fun while bad games will upset you.

Still $70 btw."
Thats perfect for you and I, but Joe dick and Sally mainstream gamer is just going to hear "you're paying more for less game."
