    The Zaptec Sense P1 load balancing unit, which connects directly to a P1 meter port without any extra converters, is available july 2024. The Zaptec article number is 900-00114 and it costs about €99.

    Thanks for a great review. I am a norwegian Zaptec user, and I can relate to your headaches when it comes to installing the device without a installer (installer reseller is a more appropriate description) In Norway Zaptec chargers are mostly sold through installers, and Zaptec apparently have a great framework and documentations for installers to use to initially set up a charger. Generally, the installer does the first part of the installation (which includes the QR code scan and first install procedure) before the end user is recommended to download the app and start their registration process. If you look around Zaptecs API, they have 3 tiers of entities - the installation, the charger and the circuit installation where the installer is in charge of setting up all 3 before the user can access the installation as a user. When it comes to the initial setup issues, I can only speculate that Zaptec does some IP geofencing to some of their setup components as Zaptec chargers are officially only sold in Scandinavia through installers/resellers (not considering grey imports) and they don't want others to access parts of their infrastructure. I am even more suprised that the 4G SIM is working/roaming properly. I own a Zaptec Pro myself and I've been loving it since 2018!

    As a new owner I can tell you all that the app and the charger are installed as easy as 1,2,3. The problems showed in the video are no more (Netherlands). Downloaden, register and install of the app was very easy, no issues at all. So Zaptec had improved it all very much. Very happy with my Zaptec Go.

      Feature request: I use cable locking so people don't steal my cable. But after charging I'd like to remove it. Would it be possible to unlock it for 10 seconds (while car not connected) when I scan my RFID card / key fob and then lock it again?

    I am from Norway and was looking for a comparison on the Easee home and Zaptec go charger. (This is the two chargers that most people go for in norway. Easee is on the lead though, since Zaptec GO is relatively new) This was a good review on the Zaptec GO. I hope they make the app more user friendly, and the locking with RFID you asked for. I think you should ask Easee to send you their charger for free for a review. With your SW and electrician background you are the perfect man to make a very nice comparison video :)

    Thank you for the review! I also found the GO-charger itself suberb but the app was quite useless to me. BUT I'm glad to see that Zaptec app developers are reacting for the customer feedback and NEW UPDATE was released few days ago. Some improvements were made and finally, now you can start and stop charging from the dashboard! Still, I would like to see actual scheduling function (ie, charge only between 0.00 - 06.00) and similar statistics as found in web portal. Maybe in next update, Zaptec!?

    The reason they decline your query if you say you haven't contacted the installer, is because working with electrics is very regulated and strict in Norway. The installer is responsible for setting the charger up so I'd say it's a great thing.

    • @hotdogsoup-nl
      @hotdogsoup-nl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! Maybe the app could give hints about the installation process, so when people don’t read the manual (which is everybody) they’ll still understand the installer must do something first. If all stats & settings for normal users are moved from the portal to the app, they never will have to use the portal again which may remove some confusion. I feel the portal is more for power users (with more than 1 installation) and installers, whereas regular home users (1 installation, op to 3 chargers) should just use the app and never use the portal. Keep up the good work!

    Ik heb overigens afgelopen maand (mei 2024) de zaptec go laten installeren, met zaptec sense. Kan het kloppen dat door de loadbalancing alleen het vermogen van de zonnepanelen pakt op het moment dat de zon volop schijnt? De auto (die tot 11kw ac kan laden) pakte namelijk slechts 2,6kw!

    • @hotdogsoup-nl

      Ik heb nog geen ervaring met de Zaptec Sense. Mocht dat gebeuren dan lijkt het me wel dat er een instelling moet zijn waarmee je dat kan uitzetten. Via Zaptec.nl kan je wel een vraag stellen. In mijn ervaring krijg je dan binnen een dag goed antwoord.

    Hoi, ik ben voornemens de Go aan te schaffen. Eén ding begrijp ik alleen nog niet. Ik heb een 3x25A aansluiting. De zekerautomaat voor de groep is 3x20A. Op het productblad van de Go staan 3 voorbeelden van laadvermogen, maar dat is allemaal met een 32A systeem. Mijn vraag past de Go dan in mijn meterkast of is een 32A aansluiting vereist?

    • @atleundrum4799
      @atleundrum4799 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, the innstaller (electrician) will configure your Zaptec Go according to the electrical installation in your house (building), so you are not required to upgrade your 3x25A connection. the product sheet shows the maximal charging capacity not the minimum. BTW your innstaller might also suggest a loadbalancing solution for your charger. I'm also inclined to suggest that you also get a loadbalancing solution. PS: (I do work for Zaptec and with loadblanacing, so Im a bit Biased) :D

    Thanks for the review. I’m currently considering to purchase the Zaptec Go as well here in The Netherlands. I’m no technician so will have it installed. How are the specs regarding safety? They state it’s very safe. Does it Includes earth leak protection, over and underload protection, overheating and short circuit like other chargers have such as the Alfen chargers?

    I just bought a new house with a zgo installed, so just came here to see what to expect. A little other way around 😅 after googling a little I found out a lot of users are having problems with thermal throtteling. Norway is not that warm so have you experienced it?

    • @hotdogsoup-nl
      @hotdogsoup-nl  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’ve never noticed it but my car does not charge that fast. The car does sometimes run its fans while charging so it does get warm. I don’t know if the car decides to throttle or the charger, so who is to blame? Maybe the Zaptec people can answer that question.

    The review is good. I am happy with the charger but the support sucks and they are on their way to kill a good product with their customer support or lack of it.
    I have asked for help for their outdated app and all I get is an automatic reply telling me to contact the installer.
    Since when did electriciuans give support for an app? There is no problem with the hardware and it charges if started manually.
    Their eco mode is a nightmare. Rather than setting the charger to charge at low peak hours, you are asked to put the time of departure and the amount of kWh needed. When you try to start it it starts charging at once as the eco mode switches to the default time of 10:00 and 30kWh.
    For this I am being told to contact my electrician.
    Dont buy this charger before they sort out their app.

      interesting review. i'm currently scoping out a charger and worry this model has the same flaw as the Easee one: owners are utterly dependent on the manufacturer's continued operation of their (azure) cloud services...services with running costs as well as maintenance. At some point this stuff will get turned off or they say "sorry, your product is no longer supported ". at least they do have a web portal so even if some android/iphone OS update kills an unmaintained app you have the portal. But i would love to know what offline charging it offers

    • @hotdogsoup-nl
      @hotdogsoup-nl  ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I can tell, it works correctly even when it is offline. You can even disable WiFi and 4G connectivity and it keeps working. You won’t have statistics etc and get no software updates anymore, but it keeps charging cars.
