I was really surprised how much I enjoy this recipe. the only thing I did differently was to make extra gravy so that I could put the patties in the gravy to simmer for an additional 20 to 30 minutes. I wanted that beef patty flavor to permeate into the gravy as well as soften the texture a bit, of the salisbury steak. Delicious!

@@LIZZIE-lizzie Do they have truck parking? I'm kidding (half way) but he has a point, all across the country independant diners and greasy spoons are being replaced with Denny's and Subways.
Or hipster joint's with no parking trying to cash in on whatever trend du jour is with a line, small portions, and prices higher than the stools sitting around the little round tables there never seems to be enough of.
There are real diners out there, but most places they are fleeting. I miss the eighties with real Chinese food not homogenized bullshit, real salad bars at cheap steak places, Soul food in gas stations, pizza places that were family style sit down with the red candles and cotton tablecloths, and Mexican sit down places where you didn't need a warning about the house salsa because that shit was HOT.
Hell, I even miss the tap water served without being asked, and whatever entree you got came with an obligatory kale garnish.
Not even relevant to your post at this point so I apologize for the rant but I don't think people realize how far 'eating out' has fallen in places that aren't major metropolitan areas where you still have close options.
We recently went to a solid 4.5 star place on y*lp for Thai and it was a disgrace, Chinese? Forget about it... We have Carrabba's though for italian. LoL
That's why we eat at home.

My gram used to own a diner and worked in several as a cook, she'd cook them in the same pan using the drippings and gravy master plus other ingredients of course , I was in heaven when she made salisbury steaks!! What an awesome cook she was!! Miss you so much gram RIP with the angels 🙏🙏❤️❤️

UK Citizen here. Salisbury Steak isn't a thing in the UK but having come across references to it I decided to make it.
I had a 170g sachet of Paxo (UK equivalent of Stove Top Stuffing Mix) left over from Xmas so I used that with 1lb of mince (ground beef), 2 small eggs & water to texture. The rest I just followed basic Salisbury Recipe by making an Onion/Mushroom Gravy (though I used a bit too much Worcestershire Sauce IMO). Served it wi' mashed potatoes.
It worked right well, very tasty and VERY filling.

These freeze wonderfully. Working three part time jobs one of which I dont get home until after 1am four days a week and I dont feel up to cooking. I will make a big batch of these Salisbury steaks with gravy and mashed potatoes then freeze them in portion sizes. I also bulk cook southren style greens, pinot beans and soups/broths. I love your videos please keep sharing them. Some of us didn't have parents around to teach us how.

Made this tonight. Had to run to store at 8pm tonight as I grabbed baking powder instead of cornstarch for the gravy. I'm eating it right now. I should have used 2 eggs and ground the crackers more finely. Left out the mustard and used half the ketchup and a splash of Worcestershire sauce in meat and gravy. Next time I will omit that as well. Gives things a vinegary flavor as would the mustard have. My preference. It's excellent. Thank you. I have made Amish poor man's steak which is similar, but different. Never made Salisbury steak. It was too late for potatoes so I'm having a slice of crusty Italian bread with butter. And I made 6 patties instead of 5. I don't eat much so next time I'll make 8. I'll share with my 7 critters.

I would've thought Salisbury steak would be hard to make but you made it look so easy. It's like meatloaf patties w/o the ketchup topping. Can't wait to try it.
On a more personal note, where are your wigs lately? Of course, you're always pretty - I just thought the wigs were so fun & cute. But then when I think of all you must do to bring us new videos, I don't imagine you have time for anything else. And I'm sure we don't even know half of what it takes to keep your channel going.
Knowing that I can watch you do something new almost every time I come to You Tube is part of what keeps me coming back. Another reason is that after watching your videos I feel like I've visited with you or you & Chris, depending on who's in it. There are some channels I watch who just zip through the recipe & that's fine too. I appreciate those for what they are. But you guys are different;; it's like I know you in real life. I'm sure all of your regulars feel the same way. You've given me belly laughs (like your reaction when your wig got pulled off:) & you've brought tears to my eyes from a stirred memory.
So if you're ever having one of those days wondering why do you bother - I hope you'll remember how many people's lives y'all touch & make better for having done so.
Didn't plan to write all of that but there it is. And no, I haven't been hitting the egg nog. 😋 lol
    Here's wishing y'all a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!
