Hes not evil he just doesnt know any other way and he actually wants u to find another way to him to restore elven... if not then stop him cauae hes in war with himself, i feel like hes being misunderstood
@@ShadowWizard solas isn't evil like you said. i did the long winded talk and in the end told him i wasn't going to lose him and would get him back and redeem him of all the false evil that was said about him(aka dread wolf) he said that's what he would want but he doubts it but to try and find him again one day. in my ending
+sukeban "I'm gunna kill a group of people to save another group of people." If you I look at it the way you do, then I could say Inquisitor "I'm gunna help people by killing people." After all, you DO kill people in your playthrough, don't you?
Ending lives in order to save lives is how we all continue to exist in this world. Its called eating. You may have done it once or twice in your life. But you've clearly never done any hunting, that's for sure...
@@NinjaFlibble here's the thing though. The Veil is unnatural. An elven made construct imposed upon the natural landscape of Thedas. It made the continent of Thedas far more hospitable for human lives but not elven lives. Solas is intent on freeing Prometheus from his chains. And permit nature to reassert itself. For all the humans living in Thedas, and their kingdoms. It will be like the destruction of Pompeii on a continent wide scale! You can't blame a volcano for being a volcano. 🌋 Or a God for being the God that he is. Or an elf or man for making an effort to correct his mistake...
Solas: "I'm not Corypheus" 'A mage from a long time ago practically destroys the world. That mage then goes to sleep for a few thousand years, and then wakes up confused about how the world has changed. After some time, that mage tries to destroy the world again. Who was I talking about?' Should have been the jist of a response you could give.
+Arthur Now that's just eating up a lot of details for the sake of comparison. Corypheus' one and only drive was always lust for power. He Was a priest of the Old Gods in a moment in which Tevinter wasmoving away from relgious fanatism and instead focusing their power on the Archon and the Magisterium itself. In other words, the Old God priests were losing their power against the Archon, and in a bid for power he followed the intructions of his gods and entered the Fade, hoping to show the world the power of the Gods. Solas however was a rebel leader in the midst of a war between tyrants. After many ages of fighting and many sacrifices he lost the one person he did not want to lose (Mythal) and partly in rage he vanished his enemies, but at a high prize he did not foresee. Yes, both destroyed the world with their actions, both acted without looking at the consequences, but their intentions were not the same, neither in the past nor after waking up in the present. Corypheus in the present wanted to be a god. Solas was ready to sacrifice everything, himself included, to restore his People.
Luiz Antonio He wanted to restore an empire with HIMSELF as it's ruling God. He didn't want to restore the actual Dragon-worshipping Tevinter, but rather he wanted to create a Tevinter that bowed down to him.
True, but then it kind of cheapens the moment he shares with Lavellen in that scene if you did his romance... I always read his look as tender and regretful (insofar as Solas is willing to show) in that moment, but it's exactly the same even if he hates you, apparently.
Corypheus wanted to restore the glory days of Tevinter even if it meant to destroy the world Solas wants to restore the glory days of barefoot elves even if it means end of the world
Because darkspawn and Magisterial = what we have been conditioned to dislike since Origin. Elves being treated poorly has also been shown plenty, so that probably has a lot to do with it. I love Solas simply because he is a complicated character, but I'd gladly choose Nathaniel Howe for a complicated guy any day.
"I intend to restore them. Doing so will most likely destroy your world" Pretty heavily implied that he needs to be stopped. The fact of the matter is that zealotry is shown multiple times throughout the DA series, and it's never good. The Architect was a darkspawn and one of the mages that made it to the black city, but he was articulate and had what some people considered a noble purpose, so much so that they let him live. Corypheus on the other hand is a zealot trying to destroy the world by basically doing the same thing that Solas is doing. Not good. So when you say that Corypheus is 'worse' than Solas, that's blatantly inaccurate. Just because the old Tevinter Imperium has been shown to be a more tyranical society doesn't change the fact that Solas thought the original elves were destructive or flawed enough that they needed to be eliminated. Furthermore, which society is 'better' is irrelevant in the face of mass genocide. Solas is easily just as bad, if not worth than Coryphytits.
I'M FUCKING SCREECHING BECAUSE HE PROBABLY MEMORISED WHAT HE'LL ANSWER SO HE COULD DO THE "I suspect you have questions" Then the Inquisitor shuts him down like "fuck no." His face is priceless lmfao
1:56 A reaction to being told he's not the fucking center of attention. That was perfect and hilarious all at the same time. I would tell him the same thing. Watching his romance story play out, it just seemed like you really had to kiss his ass and tell him how smart he was all the time.
"A reaction to being told he's not the fucking center of attention" He is though, lol. Is he not why the inquisitor was there? "I would tell him the same thing." And you would lose. You are the inquisitor, the least you could do is be inquisitive. He tells you that he has (and the qunari have) spies in the inquisition. That's important.
@@MrWongWey I assume that you are implying that I am a sycophant to this fictional character. I would argue that I am, rather, being rational (when it comes to roleplaying the ideal inquisitor) rather than letting my ego undermine the mission. *Let the villain give his monologue* is what I am saying, that way you get some knowledge. The alternative is to be upset that Solas undermined your power fantasy and do irrational things (such as not doing what you were supposed to be there to do).
+xLetalis LoL Solas could have killed you in two ways: by turning you into stone for a blink of an eye or by just leaving you with the mark that will eventually kill you, slowly... You treated him badly and yet he saves you. Isn't he just awesome? I wonder what path the inquisitor will take in the next game if you romanced him. She did wanted to join him but he didn't let her. Hmm..
+Shadowhunterbg Oh yeah, Solas is so great with causing the whole Corypheus-mess, and now planning to destroy the goddamn world, because some time ago HE "fucked it up" and doesn't like how it turned out. So, to make up for HIS mistake that has caused colossal amounts of suffering, death and such, he wants to... Cause colossal amounts of death, suffering and such. Such a magnificent person indeed. Pfft...
RuSosan I don't like his plan either but thats the charm. He has a monstrous plan but he takes no joy of completing it. You have to put yourself in his position. He wanted to save his people but in the end he basicly doomed them. The elves have a terrible life in Thedas and its all because of him. They get killed, they get enslaved, they get raped, they get assimilated. The elves are a shattered race. He blames himself for this as he should. His goal is not to kill all living things in the world. His goal is to give the elves a home of their own to ensure their survival as a race. Sadly the only way of doing this is to greatly weaken the other races. Humans will never allow the elves to have a home of their own. If you led the human race to near extinction wont you do anything in your power to save your own race? I would. Any inteligent being should care for their own people. Solas doesn't want to do this. He is sadened and you could even say disgusted of himself for trying to do this. From the time being with him in Skyhold you should have learned that he doesn't like murder, violence and injustice. At the end you basicly tell him that you will try to stop him. Solas is no fool. He knows what the Inquisitor is capable of. Solas had two opportunities to easily kill the Inquisitor. The first one: by turning him into stone with ease and the second: BY DOING NOTHING and let the Mark do the rest. What does Solas do? He saves the Inquisitor even if their relationship is really bad. Solas saved his greatest enemy...
+Shadowhunterbg Or...He's more powerful than we give him credit for and the Inquisitor is merely an obstacle for him to overcome. I agree completely with your point, I just hope it wont come down to killing him. It's not to late for redemption...but it is getting pretty darn close. I mean, all over Thedas elves are now disappearing and with word that they're being led by the dread wolf...other races will see this as a threat. That is a definite. What will happen to the elves even if Solas fails to complete his plan? They have had a taste of rebellion now, they wont want to simply return to the way things were. However, the same could be said for the mage/Templar war. In my playthough of Inquistion I made it so the mages could be free to govern themselves. Perhaps a similar outcome may arise in the new Dragon age game in the future for the elves if we manage to save Solas from himself. ...Bioware has a habbit of getting me way too invested into these games. I'm personally going to put all my focus into Mass Effect Andromeda for a while so I can shake the anticipation for the next DA game xD
Shadowhunterbg No, I don't have to put myself in his position. Even if I did, I would acknowledge the obvious that the shitbag known as Solas doesn't, meaning: "Oh, every time I've attempted something, I've fucked it up and there have been countless casualties and unmeasurable suffering because of that, so I really should just STOP attempting these plans, as if I had any right to make these decicions in stead of millions and millions of people anyway. As if I'd have the right to just end a world to reconstruct another." His supposed moral issues and feelings are entirely irrelevant in contrast to his horrendous, unjustifiable actions. NOTHING can redeem him. Nothing earns him any justified sympathy. Anyone feeling sympathy for him sure isn't thinking clearly. He must die for all the lives he has already ended and otherwise destroyed, and for the clear fact that he will keep on destroying and fucking things up if he isn't stopped. Permanently. He is a back-stabbing liar, a mass-murderer, and a pretentious hypocrite, and you expect me to give a shit about his "fee fees". No. I will have his head, and settle for nothing less. And yes, he saved the Inquisitor. From a mess that his actions brought on. So he is also an idiot, and underestimates his opposition. So he will fall.
+RuSosan His logic is possibly worse than the Reaper's logic in Mass Effect 3. Reapers: "We don't want you to be killed by synthetics, so we're coming to kill you with an army of synthetics." Solas: "I don't want to be called a god and I fucked up the world. So I'm going to try and unfuck the world by playing god and fucking things up even worse." What happened to the days when villains were scary because they had power *and* a sense of greater scope?
+Blindluck92 the reapers didnt want organic life as we know (not humans or any other species currently in existence)it to be exterminated. they didtn care about humans asari or any other organics species currently living at that time. the reapers believed that the current species(humans, asari, etc) would have eventually exterminated themselves and any hope for any other life to evolve from there on,by creating synthetics and fighting to the point of total destruction for everybody.forever.
+Blindluck92 that's not what Solas is doing. he is not trying to unfuck the world at all. he is trying to recreate his old elven era, ending the current world. kinda like rewinding back the time. as for reapers, their main problem was not synthetics, it was their belief about humans. basically they wanted earth to remain under their unnoticed control. humans gone too far and they didn't like their evolution so they decided to wipe them. also villains shouldn't always be scary. Solas is one the few villains in video games that you actually have a connection with that you experienced through the game. making it more personal.
+Lamba Delta Agreed. Also, The Reapers objective,in the end, made zero sense. Let's kill organics with Synthetics because Organics will create Synthetics and kill themselves. HUH!? Say again !? As I said, totally ass backwards. At least Solas' objective is crystal clear. He wants to undo the world, restore what he himself destroyed. To him, the current world should have never even existed. He rejects the present. As he says, the present is a "World of Tranquil" who have no idea of what they once were.
+Blindluck92 Nope, both make sense. Reapers are simply employing crop rotation because under AI logic that makes sense - hence the name. Reaper. Collector. Harbinger. They're all synonyms of Farmer. And for the record, they aren't protecting the Milky Way from unspecified synthethics, they are protecting it from a known pure synthetic race that exists beyond it and would kill everything regardless of societal advancement. Reapers protect (the far larger number of) primitive life from the dangers of what lies outside the milky way by killing advanced life that may unearth the means to leave it. Yeah. This ties into ME:Andromeda. The Leviathans forgot to tell Catalyst to prioritise the wellbeing of sentients. It's simply an exposed flaw in Asimov's 0th Law. Bugs me so much that people make uneducated assumptions and use them as justification that the writing is bad. No. The only fault here is your own for failing to notice that Beings of Light theory was BIOWARE CONFIRMED via twitter. As for Solas. He thinks everyone isn't exactly real and therefore doesn't care what happens to them. Simple as that. In his mind he is killing virtual people to resurrect real people.
If you choose the option "I am killing him myself" after killing/rescuing the dragon. I got high approval from him, i asked him questions and this is how I got it the first time I played
This is oddly satisfying; I like Solas as a character/villain but my canon Inquisitor definitely felt betrayed by him in the end, and would have chosen this if she wasn't so curious and wanting to understand why. I love his quick summary. With the "I suspect you have questions" line coming back in DA4 teasers I hope the next protagonist gets a similar option to be like "I don't really care for your villain monologue".
I'm so used to seeing the meeting with Lavellan and it's usually super long because it's super emotional and here this is, this beautiful thing that I can't help but laugh at. Solas is one of my favorite characters but if gaining his disapproval means I get this ending, I will do it and laugh for a long time after, which will be a nice change from crying when I play this part.
If you play inquisition with your inquisitor on the good side of Solas and then work the conversation so that eventually it turns the inquisitor against him you get a better scene and you get to see Solas real nature. I played it this way and finally my inquisitor tells him he will stop him. Solas is exactly what he says he's not. Arrogant and blind. He fought for the elves freedom but he was never one of them. Freedom cannot be won for someone it can only be fought and won by the group who is enslaved. Look at human history. Return of the elves I wonder where that would lead beyond the destruction of the world. On the next game I plan on killing him no matter what who cares how sorry he is. Kind of think I'm fighting for everything down to a single blade of grass because Solas believes everything's done everyone must go. True it Solas who created the veil which contributed the world my inquisitor lives but that certainly dosnt give the supreme right to destroy it because he says so.
+eva magnusson Solas perceives the world to be an unnatural construct. A mistake, if you will. That's what makes him so justified, "it's like leaving milk out and forgetting to throw it away and you realize that life is developing in the milk". To Solas, the world was infinitely much better in the past, he made a mistake, and now he's trying to correct it. Researching his lore, he's such a tragic hero that he becomes the villain and I especially love how Varric says "The best villains are the one's that were standing next to the hero all along, and are equally justified by their cause". I can't wait till DA: 4...
Jon Bartolo yeah but I barely believe a word the chantry says, they did lie about that other inquisitor in Jaws of Hakkon (I forgot his name) for racist reasons when if they were to tell the truth about it the elves wouldn't have been treated like shit, racist pricks!
The fact that Solas is initially kind and courteous to you no matter how badly you've treated him really just cements how great a character he is... it's gonna hurt needing to kill him in DA4.
I don’t know if I could. He’s always my go-to romance (I love heartbreak, apparently). Like I literally have to play a male inquisitor or a non-elf race to avoid falling into that romance for the umpteenth time 🙃
Eh, they might leave it open to convince him to just not do his thing (at least the Inquisition choices imply so). I'm not looking forward to killing endless amounts of 'evil' elven agents tho...
I am probably in the minority, but I loved Solas story and even if it was short it was my favorit romance, and I will have a horrible flashback to Thane if they "force" us to watch Solas die as well...Gah! just the thought makes steam come out of my ears lol
......I never even thought of that...you are so right :(((((((((...I love Solas too, he did so much good and he regrets so much that I think he is blinded by it, or perhaps he doesn't want his soul to wander if he doesn't restore what he destroyed. AND THEN PERHAPS IT'LL LEAD TO A MORE PROSPEROUS FUTURE FOR HIS LOVE!!! Yes hahaha I think I just convinced myself of his motives..
Solas never approved anything I’ve ever done in the game but I still got a good ending with him. I suppose we had a mutual respect going on hahaha. I hated him at first but to be honest, I quite like him now.
Marc Bedragare Sera is one of the few who doesnt see herself above the common folk. Ill grant shes annoying at times but her disdain for elven things is tied to her disdain for arrogance and pride
How funny would it be if after Solas stopped the anchor from acting up, the inquisitor gets up and goes, "cool thanks" and then just SWINGS STRAIGHT FOR HIS JAW AND PUNCHES HIM AGAIN 😭 Edit: love that everyone had the exact same idea lmaoo it's just such a funny thought 💀
Honestly, Solas' logic is flawed. The whole reason why he started the rebellion and created the veil was so that the Evanuris could stop causing the elvhen to suffer. If he tears it down, the Evanuris will be released and probably wreak havoc. Not only on the descendants of the Elvhen, but probably on other races. I get that Solas thinks he's doing this for his people, but I don't see how that's going to help. Bringing back something you put away thinking it'll be better doesn't make sense. Solas is so selfish and proud it annoys me. Why not just spread or bring back knowledge of what was, adapt to the current world, and get to know other races? The Dalish are very proud too and probably would not be so inclined at first, but that's better than to destroy a world and not even be sure of the outcome of your plan. As far as we know, Solas' plans always turn to crap.
I know this comment was made a literal year ago, but I'm gonna respond anyways: Y'know, Solas means "Pride" in Elvhen. So it adds up as to why he's so proud and selfish.
Sarah Riviere I support Solas I think he makes alot of sense The veil is the source of most of Thedas's problems including the blight (indirectly) The elves have been enslaved long enough to humans and lost everything their land, their homes, their art their civilization. Consider this, if it was humans and elves in reverse the humans would be doing the same thing in Solas's shoes. Its only evil when you are on the losing side is what I've noticed about the Hypocrisy of Humans conflicts. Solas isnt wrong nor is his plan inheritantly evil, he's trying to save his people and we would do the same thing in his shoes. Humans are just so blatantly biased and short sighted we dont consider 5 feet ahead let alone the fate of an entire race. If there IS a way to save the Elves and keep humans safe Solas would love that, but at the moment there isnt really any other alternatives. The veil HE created is literally killing his people, and killing Nature itself because the veil is like a slow suffocation of the planet itself. The Evanuris had to be dealt with but what else could he do against immortal mage kings with godlike power? He did the best he could at the time and made a mistake by creating the Veil What would you suggest? Leave his people in slavery, dirt and downtrodden to humans? HAH if it were reversed you would be preaching the humans kill all elves and rebellion and dont pretend you wouldnt. Solas has the Power to change things, and people who like the status quo hate powerful people doing the right things for the right reasons because deep down those same people are comfortable with oppression. Thats why I support Solas's goals. If the Humans had left the Elves alone he wouldnt have needed to tear the veil. So blame humans again for that one.
@@nelson_rebel3907 I know this is old-ish... but I feel the need to reply... or more accurately start a discussion if you will. :). I agree with your assessment of the veil. The problem with Mages and Fade Spirits. Even before Dragon Age 2 was released I had my own theory that the veil was some crappy barrier that is not natural, given how easily it is influenced by every single mage and how easily spirits can interact with it. I was very giddy when that proved right, but i am digressing. P.S. Yes, I agree it needs to go. Is there a way for Solas to save the elves, without tearing down the veil? Uh... yes. He can do a 'Moses'. Pick up the elves, find an uninhabited land, or make one (Crossroads, Eluvians), and there the elves can build a nation of their own. He is, already doing a Moses now that I think about it. Did he make a mistake by creating the Veil? Who knows... we don't know the full situation nor the circumstances leading to it. It may not have been intended for the Veil to last as long as it has. It is up in the air and open for interpretation. But he did cast it and now he needs to dispel it. We, however, do not know HOW he plans to do this. We only know that he will. This raises a lot of questions. How will he remove the Veil? Will it be a violent tearing, like with the Breach, only on a grander scale? Would it be a gentle merging? Seamless... no one would notice. How it will effect the environtment? Will it be like a flood? An earthquake? Or... nothing? The sad part is... Solas ALSO does not know... so he won't be able to plan accordingly. He clearly states that 'your world must die', so there will be some destruction to be had. How will this effect the modern people of Thedas? Would it be like a sudden climate change (One day: warm and sunny. the next: snow and storms). In a conversation between Solas and Cassandra, after the latter's personal quest was done, they speak about the tranquil and how the rite was reversed. The mage who was freed of his tranquility, lost all control of his powers and emotions. In DA2, Karl Thekla, Anders' friend, had his tranquility briefly reversed. He had behaved fine, himself, but he's been tranquil for a very short time. I believe that will be the effect on people... the veil was there all their lives... and suddenly removing it with kill all of them, save the strongest who will survive the sudden influx of power... likely the mages would have the highest chance of survival... For example: living in a cave for a year without stepping foot on the surface, in the dark... going out after you'd need special care to adjust to direct sunlight (sunglasses, not to burn your eyes, skincare etc. I believe there were news about a man who did live in a cave for a very long time but i forgot who it was). Another serious question is: What of the Evanuris? They will return for sure. Solas admits it himself. But will the Evanuris be as weak as Solas had been when he first woke up from Uthenera. Will they be at full power? How INSANE will they be after years and years of imprisonment? will they be rabid dogs or insane geniuses. Again we don't know. Solas doesn't as well. This raises another problem. He does not know where in Thedas the Evanuris will show up in... perhaps they would scatter and wreak havoc everywhere before they are stopped. this will make the other races despise the elven even more. 'If the Humans had left the Elves alone he wouldnt have needed to tear the veil'. This statement is just plain wrong. Solas never had ANY respect for the Dalish or the city elves. Never bothered to understand their plight. Never bothered to teach them properly. (There's only so much 'I saw it in the Fade'-line can get you). He doesn't know how to communicate with them. What is worse... he does not WANT to! The elves have endured centuries of enslavement to different masters and yet they still survive to this day and instead of finding comfort in the fact that they had survived so much, he scorns them for forgetting the old ways and who they were... without taking into account that they have no way of gleaning the truth. And even then he belittles and pities them. Even if elven were on top they would still be but a fraction of their true selves. Solas might even hate them even more for it, but that is pure speculation. The veil is not killing them. It just made them mortal, that's all it did. But in Solas' eyes that is flaw, because as an immortal, it is not something he would ever comprehend. He is incapable of it. People will fight him back... not because he is wrong or right, but because he threatens so many people's livelyhoods, families and cities. The status quo is part of it, sure... but solas' actions with affect everyone: the good. the evil. the passive. the innocent... no one will be spared. The whole situation reminds me heavily of Noah's Ark... when God sent a great flood to purify the land because people had become so sinful even he was disgusted. Whether is for better or worse, remains to be seen.
Occasionally BioWare slips in some content that only a few people see based on what character they choose like in Mass Effect you get a Paragon interrupt based on being an engineer. Here I’d have loved to see Solas snip that he had almost mistaken the female quanri with almost maxed out low disapproval coming towards him as another viddathsala.
It really pisses me off that the son of a bitch was a GOD the whole time. I mean come on! Really? Are you seriously going yo tell me that the dread wolf couldn't easily defeat a level 3 demon by himself at the start of the game? That asshole was holding back in me
It’s amusing that a lot of people here act as if Solas is doing something that humans would not do. I’m sure if it was the other way around humans would create the veil to end the elves from enslaving them. At the end of the day this is a my people vs yours kind of situation and no one would sacrifice their peoples safety and future for another that enslaves them. If you read the books and other materials played the city elf origin in DA O you can understand what the elves face under the rule of humans. How can he the one who caused this trying to save them simply sit by and watch. He is suffering through guilt because this is his fault and he needs to make it right. If him and the inquisitor are friends he encourages them to find an alternative because he can’t and this is the only answer he has.
Not even just about saving the elves but saving the wonder of what should be. The veil didn’t just end the elves but also ruined the fade and is the probable cause of the demon issues. With no veil they spirits probably didn’t have the same lack of understanding and any need to possess and with them being a normal part of the world the elves wouldn’t have twisted them like those stupid mages Solas kills for corrupting his friend.
I love how the elves went from being all powerful to pathetic because of one man's betrayal. It kind of illustrates how dangerous magic could be if the Veil wasn't there. Magic OP! Fuck rogues! And then when magic was nerfed the elves switched to using bows. Rogues OP! Fuck magic!
i don't know if anyone else bothered to mention this since i'm too lazy to read the other comments but it have nothing to do with approval. basicly in order to get this option you need to not ask solas about anything. elves, imself, the fade, etc. and you get this option. can be done with max aproval as well.
There's a bulletpoint-option to this conversation?! Heh, I wonder if Neo had this option with the Architect to cut the whole conversation down to: "Well then, Neo: I programmed the Matrix, you're an overflow, that glitches over time. This is Matrix 6.0. We planned all this since day one. Left door, reboot matrix, repopulate Zion at a female-to-male-rate of 2:1. Right door, back to the Matrix, everyone dies." Time for the protocol asshole-run. Lets see how many companions will leave. Thanks for uploading. :D
Solas: ''i suspect u have questions'' So much dissapointment when you didn't ask him shit XD Priceless face too. i gotta admit i got a weak spot for the guy and kinda do feel bad for him in some way, i romanced him in my first playtrough, why do i always go for such complicated men?
Booty Messiah I'm hoping Fenris returns in DA 4 (older and wiser, hopefully). He could be a lieutenant in Solas' army, as Solas wages war with Tevinter and attempts to restore the Elven empire. He'd make for a fantastic moral dilemma, and possibly a boss battle.
@@thegreatmoustachio i don't think that fenris would join solas tbh. especially if youve romaced him in da2. Fenris does hate slavers but (if you have romanced fenris) he wouldn't want hawke or his friends to die. but this is just what i think
I wish the punches were a little different for each character. Dwarf punch hits the gut cause how short they are Elf and human punch are normal Quanari punch fucking sends him flying
+Christoffer Karlsson No, he didn't want anyone to have any of his power, but decided to use old Coryface to find the foci instead. He made the horrifically arrogant error of thinking Coryphenus wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it. Obviously that didn't work out according to plan.
mirrandas 101 No, His agent's told the Venatori how to locate His orb for Corypheus. So when he activated it he would die from the explosion = kill him, and then he would reclaim the orb and use it to torn down the veil. But he didn't know that Corypheus had figured out how to become immortal.
MinecraftPro15 Not true. Elves natural state is immortality Solas himself, abelas and the sentinels, titans, old gods, etc.. All of those are immortal. All elves would be immortal too were it not for the Veil Solas created that reshapes all reality.
@@nelson_rebel3907 Are you sure Solas, Abelas and the rest of the ancient elves are still immortal though? In the proper version of this scene he says 'it wasn't the arrival of humans that caused *us* to begin aging'. Solas was in uthenera since the veil until 9:40 (well that's what he says at least), and the sentinels were in uthenera too, only waking up when they needed to fight. So it's possible they age when 'awake'.
@@Valyrianalien As positive as anyone can be. Solas, abelas and the others arent your normal elves. They know magic thousands of years beyond whats currently in dragon age. Solas only went to sleep so long because of the spell he cast to create the veil. Abelas and the others? Its a fair point but waking up doesnt cause them to die. I imagine they can be awake for x amount of time, go back to sleep and regain any lost vitality. Elves arent human, so whatever their connection to the fade is in biological. Or spiritual. We dont know. But its clearly more than possible they retain any of their immortality if they have the knowledge to do so. Otherwise Abelas and the others would have died long ago. Solas is a special case because hes more powerful than any living creature at the moment. Even a Titan would not face him lightly
Solas: I suspect you have questions. xLethalis: Hm no, can we like move on? I want to get to the credits and close the game so I can continue to discover new stuffs in The Witcher game.
Solas: I suspect you have questions. Inquisitor: I suspect you know a lot about living in cupboards. Solas: .....Excuse me? Inquisitor: Because you're a giant tool. Solas: .......
Solas logic is even worse than that of a school shooters. "World's fucked up so I'm going to kill everyone to make it a better place, also I have plot armor and a 600000% boost to my attack power." - Solas
This made me feel guilty just watching it. I think attempting to do a low Solas approval playthrough would break my heart too much. I commend you for having the courage to do what I could not! D:

'A mage from a long time ago practically destroys the world. That mage then goes to sleep for a few thousand years, and then wakes up confused about how the world has changed. After some time, that mage tries to destroy the world again.
Who was I talking about?'
Should have been the jist of a response you could give.

Corypheus wanted to restore the glory days of Tevinter even if it meant to destroy the world
Solas wants to restore the glory days of barefoot elves even if it means end of the world
And for some reason, Solas doing it is completely fine in the eyes of some people, but Corypheus must be stopped.

No, I don't have to put myself in his position.
Even if I did, I would acknowledge the obvious that the shitbag known as Solas doesn't, meaning:
"Oh, every time I've attempted something, I've fucked it up and there have been countless casualties and unmeasurable suffering because of that, so I really should just STOP attempting these plans, as if I had any right to make these decicions in stead of millions and millions of people anyway.
As if I'd have the right to just end a world to reconstruct another."
His supposed moral issues and feelings are entirely irrelevant in contrast to his horrendous, unjustifiable actions.

Reapers: "We don't want you to be killed by synthetics, so we're coming to kill you with an army of synthetics."
Solas: "I don't want to be called a god and I fucked up the world. So I'm going to try and unfuck the world by playing god and fucking things up even worse."
What happened to the days when villains were scary because they had power *and* a sense of greater scope?
+Blindluck92 well he has power and he wants to bring back his world...which he will probably rule, that sounds awesome to be honest.

It is never asking solas a question.
If you choose the option "I am killing him myself" after killing/rescuing the dragon. I got high approval from him, i asked him questions and this is how I got it the first time I played
Danielle Homer That dialogue option isn't available is certain playthroughs.
Never miss a chance to punch a god.

Inquisitor: Vidassala's not killing Solas. I AM KILLING SOLAS
Well, probably the best line in the whole game
+eva magnusson
Solas perceives the world to be an unnatural construct.
I just keep telling myself that he was lying when he said he created the veil, it basically wears off the MAJOR TRUTH BOMB I experienced!
WorkGalaxy47 Yeah, imagine the Chantry after this revelation. Then again, they would probably contest his claim and still believe the Maker.
Like I literally have to play a male inquisitor or a non-elf race to avoid falling into that romance for the umpteenth time 🙃
Solas is a good character because even if he has his fangirls, he also has a decent chunk of people who would gladly kill him.
Eh, they might leave it open to convince him to just not do his thing (at least the Inquisition choices imply so). I'm not looking forward to killing endless amounts of 'evil' elven agents tho...
Nah, he's a condescending, arrogant, racist bitch, who deserves to die.

She just can't be happy with elfy stuff of any sort. It's annoying and immature.
Marc Bedragare Sera is one of the few who doesnt see herself above the common folk. Ill grant shes annoying at times but her disdain for elven things is tied to her disdain for arrogance and pride

She gets triggered by pointy ears. She has zero tolerance for elves.
I like Sera, it's Vivienne who bugs me.
How funny would it be if after Solas stopped the anchor from acting up, the inquisitor gets up and goes, "cool thanks" and then just SWINGS STRAIGHT FOR HIS JAW AND PUNCHES HIM AGAIN 😭
Edit: love that everyone had the exact same idea lmaoo it's just such a funny thought 💀
Sarah Riviere
I support Solas
I think he makes alot of sense
The veil is the source of most of Thedas's problems including the blight (indirectly)
The elves have been enslaved long enough to humans and lost everything their land, their homes, their art their civilization.
He did the best he could at the time and made a mistake by creating the Veil
What would you suggest?
He said he had plans for Evanuris.
I didn't know how bad I needed to see this. Thank you!
Occasionally BioWare slips in some content that only a few people see based on what character they choose like in Mass Effect you get a Paragon interrupt based on being an engineer.
Here I’d have loved to see Solas snip that he had almost mistaken the female quanri with almost maxed out low disapproval coming towards him as another viddathsala.
nothing wrong with that ;]
It really pisses me off that the son of a bitch was a GOD the whole time.
1:53 The way the music cuts out then starts back up again when he frowns 🤣

:O Solas, you MASSIVE hypocrite!
Wow! I’ve never done this but I REALLY like it!!! Man, I’d love to have a real life LONG conversation with that elf.
SOLAS' FACE! Lol! Oh my!
I love how the elves went from being all powerful to pathetic because of one man's betrayal. It kind of illustrates how dangerous magic could be if the Veil wasn't there. Magic OP! Fuck rogues!
And then when magic was nerfed the elves switched to using bows. Rogues OP! Fuck magic!
I seriously dont get how anyone can hate him.
How can anyone like him?
Yeeeeaaah naaaaah you can keep elfie Stalin yo
@@fuckoffgoogle1657 Elf Stalin XD
He just like Cory and Anders. Mage who thinks to claim something beyond himself.
i don't know if anyone else bothered to mention this since i'm too lazy to read the other comments but it have nothing to do with approval. basicly in order to get this option you need to not ask solas about anything. elves, imself, the fade, etc. and you get this option. can be done with max aproval as well.
I love the soundrack in the background when you speak with Solas =)
Solas explained in a 50 seconds 1:59
Man Solas is the homie. I had a lot of fun listening to his stories & smooth ass voice. Thats my boy! Im gonna save you, Solas!
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. What was the point of the 20 minute interactive cutscene?
Love the Solas strut at the end
Is anyone else having the same amount of pleasure punching Solas even if its been 7 years?
Solas here: *Cold, like what you expect a villain to sound like*
Romanced Solas: 😭😭😭 I'm sorry, this must be done.
The depth. Such a chef's kiss.
It is a shortest conversation, ever !
That look he gave her gave me goosebumps
Imagine playing it for the first time and this is what you got. That would be quite shocking and disappointing xD
There's a bulletpoint-option to this conversation?!
Heh, I wonder if Neo had this option with the Architect to cut the whole conversation down to:
"Well then, Neo: I programmed the Matrix, you're an overflow, that glitches over time. This is Matrix 6.0. We planned all this since day one. Left door, reboot matrix, repopulate Zion at a female-to-male-rate of 2:1. Right door, back to the Matrix, everyone dies."
Time for the protocol asshole-run. Lets see how many companions will leave. Thanks for uploading. :D
Solas: ''i suspect u have questions''
So much dissapointment when you didn't ask him shit XD Priceless face too.
i gotta admit i got a weak spot for the guy and kinda do feel bad for him in some way, i romanced him in my first playtrough, why do i always go for such complicated men?
I just like Solas because he was edgy and mysterious. All that dread wolf was noise. Plus I miss fenris ;,(
Booty Messiah i totally forgot about fenris he was my fuckin dude
Egdy, mysterious AND genocidal.
Booty Messiah
I'm hoping Fenris returns in DA 4 (older and wiser, hopefully).
@@thegreatmoustachio oh and i must add, solas is a mage. fenris hates mages
That was oddly satisfying
Solas: *Do you know how long it takes to write a speech in iambic pentameter*
solas: time to explain my masterplan!!
Inquisitor: NOPE!
Solas: here's "short version" anyway!
I wish the punches were a little different for each character.
Dwarf punch hits the gut cause how short they are
Elf and human punch are normal
Quanari punch fucking sends him flying
ahhh that's why solas wanted to give the mark to Corypheus, to kill him.
MinecraftPro15
Not true. Elves natural state is immortality
Solas himself, abelas and the sentinels, titans, old gods, etc..
@@Valyrianalien
As positive as anyone can be.
When I played through this he took the hand that had the mark....
He does here too though.
Solas is such a shitlord in this scene and I LOVE IT XD
Solas: I suspect you have questions.
xLethalis: Hm no, can we like move on? I want to get to the credits and close the game so I can continue to discover new stuffs in The Witcher game.
damn it. that's harsh Solas O.o
This is awesome. It reminds me a bit of the Supernatural season finale.
Solas: I suspect you have questions.
Inquisitor: I suspect you know a lot about living in cupboards.
Solas: .....Excuse me?
Inquisitor: Because you're a giant tool.
Solas: .......
I think you mean fridges since you keep eggs there.
