the only thing i dont like is i jar jar and his talking i dont mind people being clumsy people can be in real life why not a movie but his talking bugs me i wish i could make it out a little more
I love how on the surface qui gons death is just the death of cool character when in actuality it sets the entire story down the path that we know... if that makes sense
Side note: On how similarly the queen looks compared to her decoy; the decoy, who is referred to as Queen Amidala for most of the movie is portrayed by Keira Knightley, who was hired because of how closely she resembled Natalie Portman.
Too bad Keira Knightley never learned to act ... and can only "play herself", a.k.a. "a modern age loud teenage girl" ... no matter if it is a historical costume drama or not.
The end of the fight between Qui Gon, Obi Wan and Darth Maul shows the difference between Sith and Jedi very well. When the laser partitions separated Qui Gon and Maul from each other, the Jedi began to meditate, calming down, and the Sith, on the contrary, walked in a rage like a tiger in a cage, filling himself with emotions. And when Obi Wan attacked Maul after the death of his master, you can see that he was filled with rage, which took him out of balance, since this is not the way of the Jedi and he does not know how to handle it, and Darth Maul, being a Sith who has been raised inside the order since childhood, who on the contrary feeds himself with emotions, easily he was defeated and thrown into the mine, and only when Obi Wan was able to calm down and return to balance, he was able to defeat Maul
@@FloridaMugwump I didn't say that calmness wins the battle, I said that Jedi denied emotions in battle that's why Obi Wan couldn't fight properly before he took his emotions in control, and Sith always relay on their passions and emotions, this is just a difference between philosophies, not a rule for a fight
Duel of the fates at the end there is one of the best soundtracks to a battle in my opinion. Also, lightsaber colors do have a story behind them: blue is for force users who prioritize sword fighting skills, green is for force users who prioritize the mind above the physical. Red, of course is almost always for force users who follow the dark side of the force as they are most often led by their passion. I believe canon now says that the red sabers use a corrupted version of the jedi kyber crystals in the core. The Sith pour their passion and emotion into a crystal which turns them red (and unstable).
There's a lot of subtle foreshadowing throughout the prequels - when you've seen through to episode 3 and re-watch, you'll notice them all. And yes Darth Vader was a Sith, as was the emperor. "Always two there are, no more, no less." Really looking forward to seeing you watch the next two!
So glad you didn't skip the Phantom Menace. I always suggested release order but if you're not going that route then skipping Phantom Menace. is a big mistake that I don't know why anyone would suggest.
14:34 That bounty hunter woman here is Aura Sing btw. You'll see more of her if you'd decide to watch the 2008 Clone Wars animated show. It's some of my favourite canon star wars content so I really hope you'll watch it too.
To all those watching the Prequels for the first time, don’t worry about feeling slightly confused or like you’ve missed something, especially if you’re watching out of release order; these Prequel movies and the overarching storyline were set up to be somewhat mysterious, with answers to major questions coming within the proceeding episodes. Minor questions for things that don’t really impact the basic story (such as the Sith and their naming conventions) may have required previous repeated viewings of the Original Trilogy, and/or in depth knowledge of Expanded Universe lore. It’s pretty cool that Stef appears to be an inquisitive information sponge for these things, but she is also too hard on herself for not knowing stuff she couldn’t possibly know without the many years (46 and counting) some of us have had to absorb all the Star Wars culture. Good thing she has various lore masters to help her here like she had with LOTR & Hobbit viewings; please just keep it spoiler free for her as some comments I’ve seen have been pushing or going over that boundary!
7:52 Darth Vader and the emperor are both Sith. Sith are basically the opposite to jedi and the Sith often also make their crystals in their lightsabers bleed with the dark side of the force, so that the blade turns red.
It's alright to Cry. STEF, your emotions are your essence and evidence you posess a truly, kind, sensible & caring Heart. You are a beautiful LIVING SOUL!
Queen Padme Amidala and her personal handmade would swap places when the queen would deem it a safety hazard or she wanted to "experience" something not as royalty. Also the actress who played her handmaiden....was Keira Knightley! from Pirates of the Caribbean!
23:05 I'd say the jedi could normally feel that but the jedi temple was built on a Sith shrine, I think to cleanse it of its darkness, but the shrine clouds the force for the jedi and their vision though the force to an extend and that gets even worse as soon as the clone wars starts and across its duration.
4:21 There is no significance to the Lightsaber colors. With 2 exceptions: red and white. Red ones are when a Dark side user takes a regular blue/green blade and fills it with all of their hatred, fear, and anger until it Bleeds Red. White is when you do the opposite. You take a Red one and draw the poisonous emotions out and fill it with peace and hope.
You're not alone in your confusion. My favorite one-line comparison of the original trilogy to the prequel trilogy is this: In the original trilogy, the plots could be understood by kids and the humor could be appreciated by adults, while in the prequel trilogy the plots could be understood (mostly?) by adults and the humor could be appreciated (mostly?) by kids. But I think you've got all the fundamentals of Episode I: The Galactic Republic is being destabilized by a war brought on by the Trade Federation, and two Jedi sent to investigate that conflict come across Anakin, a boy with unusually strong connections to the Force, as well as a Sith Lord, the ancient enemy of the Jedi.
Queen Padme Amidala is played by Natalie Portman. The Decoy, her handmaiden Sabe is played by Keira Knightly. We really only see the decoy twice in the movie, 1. when they first escape Naboo and arrive in Tatooine, she's wearing a black dress with a feathery head-dress and 2. the battle dress when they return to Naboo
@@terrylandess6072 I'm pretty sure that's Sabé, who is played by Keira Knightley. She was pretending to be queen from the moment she was grabbed by the Trade Federation, when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon first met her. They actually saved the decoy, that's why Sabé acted as if she was taking orders, she actually was! Even if she was dressed as the queen. Padmé's "We are brave, your highness." is code for "Let's go to Coruscant so that I can make a case in the senate. Listen to the jedi.". But in the senate, it was Portman playing the queen just like in the beginning of the movie. They swapped (in-universe) shortly after landing on Coruscant. That's why the actors needed to swap as well, Portman was never playing Sabé and Knightley was never playing Padmé. I watched so many movies with both of them that I can pretty much tell the difference even in this movie. On a funny note, Anakin was actually speaking to Padmé when he was asking the queen about Padmé, to say "goodbye". But I guess Coruscant has more spies than a swamp on Naboo, so she couldn't really blow her cover at that point. I found this compilation which contains all the scenes with Sabé as the queen: th-cam.com/video/RNEQ3y1qPAM/w-d-xo.html
@@terrylandess6072 Yeah, at least that explained the need for a decoy. But people still include it in their argument when they try to shit on The Phantom Menace. Even Rob Hilton who made the Machete order did that. I mean sure, if you judge the movies one by one. But Star Wars, to me, is watching all Episodes. It's Star Wars in its entirety that makes it great. I mean, even the LOTR movies depend on each other, so any one of them is not the same masterclass on their own. The first movie ends on a cliffhanger and if you only watch part 2 or 3 you won't understand anything that's going on.
31:28 What you mean to say is either, "He seems so suspicious to me" or "I am you skeptical of any good intentions he has". "He seems so skeptical to me" would mean that you find Emperor Palpatine to question much of what he is told.
26:47 The shortest answer to “is a Jedi able to fly?” Is yes, but it is in no way usable, efficient, or practical in any situation. They can however Leap Tall Buildings In A Single Bound and “too high” is not a concept. They never need parachutes.
4:12 . The short answer regarding lightsaber color is: It doesn't really matter. What you need to know is that blue and green are good, red is bad, purple exists because Samuel L Jackson wanted it to and it's considered to be "somewhere in-between". Whether you have a green or blue lightsaber is based on what you "specialize" in. Green is for "better with the force", blue is for "better with a lightsaber". (If I'm not mistaking) 4:32 . Obi-Wan is 25 and Anakin is 9. 7:20 . No, the model is the same, it's an R2 droid, but the name R2-D2, is specific for that one droid. The R2 droids have the same shape and all, the only thing that varies and separates them are the colors. R2-D2 is the only one you'll see that's blue. 7:39 . "The Phantom Menace" takes place roughly 32 years before "A New Hope". 7:51 . A sith is basically an evil Jedi (simple way to explain it). Easiest way to identify them is through their red lightsabers. 8:42 . Jedi mind tricks only work on weak minded creatures. There are however some specific creatures that it doesn't work on. Similar to the Hutts, Toydarian brains have an unusual composition which makes them immune to influence from the Force. 9:30. Don't worry, it's the first time you find out about it. 9:55 . They bump into each other aaaaalll the time! They're an iconic duo which is always brought back in other movies and shows. If I'm not mistaking their memory was wiped after "Revange of the Sith", so they don't really remember anything. (You'll see why later on) 10:40 . ........👀 11:05 . There's a LOT of theories out there in regards to who Anakin's father is. It doesn't really matter for the movies though. Main theories are: 1: Anakin was created by the will of the force itself or 2: (potential spoiler) : The father is Darth Sidious' ("The emperor") Master, "Darth Plagueis the Wise", which you'll hear more about in "Revange of the Sith". 15:23 . No, but also, yes 😂 They just want some entertainment. 23:04 . They can sense the dark side, but let's put it like this: Someone very powerful in the dark side of the force is clouding their vision, which is scary for them since they should be able to identify it. 26:36 . No, but they can like "super-jump". They basically force push the ground as they're jumping, which allows them to jump wwaaaayy higher than a normal human could. 27:46. He's calming down and listening to the midiclorians (preparing for what's about to come). Like Obi-Wan did in "A New Hope". 29:00 . Obi-wan did tap into the dark side and got angry, which allowed him to win the fight, since Darth Maul wasn't expecting Obi-Wan to be aggressive. 31:10 . ........👀 32:22 . The girl's name (Character played by Natalie Portman) is Padmé Amidala. Padmé first name, Amidala last name. (It's the same person) The decoy's name is Sabé and is played by Kiera Knightly. 32:40 . Yep! He's considered a VERY powerful sith. 32:50 . A lot will be answered in the next two movies. Hope I've helped a little bit😁 Also if you want to get the bigger picture you should watch "Star wars: The clone wars" and "Star Wars: Rebels", after you've watched "Revange of the sith".
hey, cannot wait for your revenge of the sith reaction. One thing, the time jump between episode II and III lacks a lot of context. There is excellent SW animated show taking place in this timeline called “Star Wars The Clone Wars” which is in itself even better than the prequels. I’d suggest you to watch it one day entirely anyway but only by following the chronological order list (on the internet) and not the release order (season 1,2,3 etc…) But first to prepare your reaction to episode III, i’d suggest you to watch on your own the first 9 episodes on this list just after you watched episode II, which means : S2 E16 - Cat And Mouse S1 E16 - The Hidden Enemy The Clone Wars Film (theatrical release) S3 E01 - Clone Cadets S3 E03 - Supply Lines S1 E01 - Ambush S1 E02 - Rising Malevolence S1 E03 - Shadow Of Malevolence S1 E04 - Destroy Malevolence
As for the force users question; jedi knights can influence their midi chlorians to extenuate certain physical things; such as jumping very high/far, moving extremely fast, healing themselves, mind tricks, or moving objects with their minds, also force barrier which is essentially a protective shield for the body & mind. They cannot however change the laws of science. So flying is out. Also using the force isn’t an unlimited resource, they need to recover after using it so they tend to use it sparingly in order to use it when absolutely necessary and gain a significant advantage to their situation. Sith Lords are also force users but they have access to the force in its entirety. They can use all the aforementioned techniques which the Jedi have access to, as many Sith Lords are former Jedi who have fallen to the dark side. They also have access to other force techniques which are deemed unnatural - some of these skills are verging on changing the laws of science. Such as force masking (being able to change one’s appearance), force scream which Sideous uses in episode 3, this severs opponents connection to the force, force lightning which is pretty self explanatory and used throughout all episodes by various Sith, transfer essence which is the art of creating multiple versions of yourself, force drain which can shut down an opponents body through deprivation of basic life requirements such as oxygen, force fear which essentially mind control, a much more advanced version of the Jedi mind trick, force illusion which is the ability to plant visions in other peoples minds (generally considered that Sideous was doing this to Anakin for years with visions of his mother & Padme), Deadly Sight which is why Sith Lords have a yellow/green iris, they can’t inflict pain and suffering by staring at their opponents, Wave Collapsing; which is the ability to hear conversations between other force users from other planets, Force Rage; this ability generally depended on how much killing they’d previously done and amplifies their strength and passion (you can see it being used by Dooku in episode 3 when he starts talking to Anakin during their battle saying “you have hate but you don’t use it”. There are more dark side techniques and supernatural abilities but these are the ones displayed in this trilogy and used by Sideous, Vader, Dooku, & Maul. You may think that because of this information that the Sith are much more powerful than the Jedi; this is true. In every instance in every movie - whenever a Sith Lord is in battle they are fighting against multiple Jedi simultaneously. The Jedi have advantages in terms of numbers; they can train as many Jedi as they feel necessary; thousands if they want to. Their religion is governed by a code & it says nothing about numerical limitations. This also brings up the Sith code; “the rule of two”, which was devised by an ancient Sith Lord - Darth Bane, who decided that there would only ever be two Sith at any time in history; a master & an apprentice. That way they could focus more and rely on their passion and hatred much more and objectively achieve more as they wouldn’t be as worried about betrayal.
The parade music in the celebration at the end was a happier sounding version of the Imperial March - the theme of Palpatine's Galactic Empire. This symbolises how the only person who really won in this movie was Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, the future Emperor of the Galaxy. The title of this movie, "The Phantom Menace", refers to Darth Sidious/Palpatine - he is the Phantom Menace. Everything in Star Wars is a result of his plans.
Future reference: don't use the Emperor's actual name when commenting on a new SW fan's video. The new fan DOES NOT know who the Emperor/Darth Sidious is. The name "Palpatine" is not mentioned in the OT. Not once. I've seen enough of these reaction videos to know that not everyone catches on, no matter how obvious you think it is.
time code: 26:40 - "With the power of the force, can they fly?" Answer: potentially yes, but they glide during free-fall, giving the appearance of flight.
@@faisalmemon285 i did not agree. the force gave him a boost, not the ability to fly. please show cite 1 movie, 1 cgi show, 1 cartoon, 1 novel, where a jedi or sith, stood still, on the ground, & then flew in air like superman.
i was always fascinated by the Droidekas (rolling bois with shields). so as an aside, force powers to fly quickly exhausts the force user, and so it can be done only in short burst on conscious terms, but meditation can yield a sort of "hover" Jar Jar is super clumsy, which can be weaponized, but only on rare occasions. he once put an ambassador into a coma in the tv series
Yes it is. Green represent those who have the force as their focus, blue is for the warriors/knights, and purple has knowledge of both jedi and sith powers.
I'm from T-Town. You may not know that phrase but, there it is. Always enjoy your reactions. Been awhile ( 2107 ) since I've been back to Tulsa. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
27:30 Actually in Empire strikes back Luke escaped being frozen by Darth Vader by force throwing his body out of the hole and grabbing onto wiring. At the end of this movie Obiwan is hanging on then, much like Luke in Empire, he flies up to finish his duel with Darth Maul. So while the Jedi don't play Quidage like Harry Potter there are scenes in canon where at least brief usage of force applied to the Jedi's own body are shown. Now for full demonstration of "too much" of what the force can do, please refer to episodes 7 to 9 of the series.
Blue = Guardian who is more talented in Lightsaber techniques and fighting Green = Consular who is more talented in Force Techniques than fighting with a Lightsaber Purple = User who occasionally uses Dark Side Abilities without being Taken over by the Dark Side (fights on the Light Side of the Force) Red = Dark Side user they Bleed the Lightsaber crystal bending it to their will using the Dark Side White = A Lightsaber crystal that has been Healed from the Dark Side Bleeding Black = Possible Force user who brings balance/ unity to a species/ Race and the Force (not so sure as the Dark Saber is all we have to go off) Yellow = Force User who is focused less on the Force and more on scholarly pursuits or practical skills symbol of a Jedi Sentinel/ Temple Guard Orange = Force user who has a deep connection with the Force though will never take part in combat unless Truly Necessary
So to answer your question Jedi and Sith can use the force to amplify their movements like jumps and running etc... they can also use it to lift objects by pushing it with the force basically....
I'm glad the prequels are getting the respect they deserve in the past few years. Regardless of whether it's because of the questionable quality of the sequels. And to-date this is still one of Samuel L Jackson's favourite roles ever, because and I quote, "he got to be a goddamn Jedi!"
The lightsaber colors are somewhat dependent upon natural force-talent inclinations. In The Old Republic(the first time it's touched upon) it for Jedi signifies if they're set to become a Guardian, Consular, or Sentinel. A Guardian is basically a sort of law-enforcer, focusing on marital uses of the force(the body: Force Valor, Force Speed, Force Jump, Kata/Moving Meditation, Force Body, Precognition). A Consular is someone like Yoda, focusing on the mystical aspects of the force, and the path to conflict mediation(resolving the problem. Often working as diplomats. Their focus lies in the esoteric(Force Foresight, Tutaminis(blocking shots, force lightning, etc. Basically shielding), Telekinesis, Force Heal, Force Absorb, Mind trick, Force Stasis(Basically putting someone into suspended animation), Force Sever(literally cutting someone off from the force), and Electric Judgement). A Sentinel is basically someone who has a more balanced skillset. Often not just in the force, but just on the overall. They typically make for great spies, infiltrators, scouts, and versatile protectors. Their force skills typically focuses on stealth, mobility, defending against other force users, and general utility tricks(Force Cloak, Force Stealth, Force Immunity(defends against the use of other force powers against them in general), Force Teleport(short-ranged, and generally a bit disorienting. But there have been exceptions to both weaknesses), Force Speed(yes, they too specialize in it), Battle Meditation(all 3 have examples that have learned this, and it's just rare overall. But it suits The Sentinel best, because it takes both the calm concentration of a Consular, and mixes it with the combat awareness of a Guardian on a large scale. Since it's used to boost armies, and weaken opposing forces), and even Mechu-deru(which is generally considered a dark side technique that works on droids). Guardians use Blue lightsaber crystals in general, Sentinels use Yellow or Orange crystals in general. And Consulars use Green lightsaber crystals in general. Do note that lightsaber colors are in no way an absolute marker. But SW lore they gold some general indications to them. Purple/Violet usually either indicates a Jedi that struggles with The Dark Side. Or a Sith. White generally symbolizes neutrality in the force, often some level of actual balance between light and dark. But more often than not, just a refusal to commit fully to either. Silver, one of the rarest of all, seems to symbolize actual harmonized balance in the force. Black/Black and white/silver, only has one known wielder. A rare Mandalorian Jedi. It's seen in recent show iterations: The Dark Saber. What the colors mean for Sith is a lot more dubious. But it should be noted that Tulak Hord, The Lord of Hate, and "Master of the Gathering Darkness"(referring to his force storms that he used to devastate armies). Used a Orange-red(orange with a reddish core) lightsaber crystal, and considering the remarks about his prowess with a lightsaber, and monumental force feats(he was the one to invent Essence Transfer, among other things): It stands to reason to say that this sort of orange crystal means the same to The Sith as it does to The Jedi. Which seems to hold up all the more when you consider his versatile skillset(a good commander/strategist, working on biological force advancements, and force machines).
In the expanded canon traditionally lightsaber colors are (usually) tied to what particular speciality the Jedi belongs to within the Jedi Order. Blue for Jedi Guardians (protectors who often focus on lightsaber combat) Green for Jedi Consulars (diplomats and peacemakers who often focus on force powers) Yellow for Sentinels (guardians of the Jedi Temples, many times use double bladed lighsabers or even polearm lightsabers) and then you have your rare colors like Purple and White that are just dope because they're rare and are usually carried by Jedi who are VERY talented in lightsaber combat. (the crystals used in lightsaber construction determine the color) And yes, Anakin was an immaculate conception. AKA there ACTUALLY was no father, the implication being that he was basically fathered by the force.
Force flight is generally considered a myth. But it actually has happened. Though it's mostly force-gods that can do it. It's nearly unheard of for mortal force users to accomplish it.
Hi Stef, So with the force they can’t technically fly but they can absolutely look like they do being that they are still grounded in the real physical sense of the force as well. So they can jump high, sometimes go fast, land from a high fall but that is only if they are able to connect with the force in those particular instances. Other worldly powers such as telecommunications or mind manipulation are some spiritual force aspects that tend to be out of the physical realm with enough concentration of the force. But will definitely not spoil the other powers so that you enjoy and see them for yourself in this Star Wars Journey! SO great to see your reacts to this franchise. Btw you’re such a vibe. ❤✅ Keep it up! You have all my support.
People were really hard on Jake Lloyd as young Anakin. He had some run-ins with the law, and was even diagnosed with schizophrenia several years ago, and had been in a mental institute for a long while. Last I heard, though, he was discharged. I hope he can be guided back onto the right path. Even Ahmed Best got a lot of flack regarding HIS character, to the point that he almost thought about committing suicide. Thankfully, he's been getting some appreciation in recent years. And honestly, I liked Jar Jar. Sure, he was clumsy, but sometimes, it worked out well, like when the Gungan army was fighting the droids. He clumsily released the boomas (they're like EMP grenades, you could say), but said weapons did manage to disable some of the droids' tanks, so again, it paid off. Edit: Yep. Anakin had never won a Podrace before because Sebulba had been cheating. This time, though, Anakin was able to outsmart that Dug and win the race. 2nd edit: Rewatching these movies makes sense. A lot goes on, and there tend to be some things you could've missed the first time that you start to catch on repeat viewings. And I'm glad to see you agree that Jar Jar's clumsiness worked to his advantage.
The Sith, ancient enimies of the Jedi. Master of the Dark side of the Force. There was once a time thousands of years ago when there were just as many Sith as there were Jedi. But so much infighting among the ranks drove one Darth Bane to create the Rule of Two, so that there would only ever be Two Sith in the entire galaxy. The MAster and the Apprentice, this way the Master would always know who to keep an eye on should the apprentice grow bold and confident enough to one day attempt to overthrow the master.
Awesome reaction and this is one of my favourite star wars movies. Liam Neeson does a really good job with leading the movie and Darth Maul definitely makes an impact of the film with his badass lightsaber duel at the end.
You're all good - Stef!! I had the same "confusion" w/the queen-handmaiden roles -- but, that just means it worked well! Don't worry about it - it doesn't matter. We do find the sabre colors are personal choices, but hence, 'red' ironically usually "evil" vs. green=good. Thanks for the vid -- Hope to see you in the next! 👍🐼
There are more detailed descriptions below, but summed up, lightsaber colors give you a surface glance at a Force user's inclinations. Blue is for more physical and straight forward users, like typical Knights while Green is for more Force focused, cerebral users. Red is used by Sith because it is more passionate and raw, like the Dark Side (or corrupted depending on the canon). This is a pretty bare bones explanation, but hope it helps.
Anakin really didn't have a father, but you'd have to dive into the background lore of the books and even the Legends material to discover why. "Darth" is a Sith title. I find a good way to watch stuff that I don't know much about is to watch it, see what I can figure out about it for myself, and then do research and watch essay videos about it, etc. The problem with watching the Skywalker Saga (that's what they called episodes 1-9) is that you really need to watch them all before diving into the background or else some things might get spoiled for you lol.
Lightsaber colors used to be Blue = Jedi Guardian, Green = Jedi Consular, Yellow = Jedi Sentinel, Red = pretty much Sith/dark side characters. unsure when it changed, maybe mr lucas wanted to spice things up, I donno, but for most star wars fans the "Blue = Jedi Guardian, Green = Jedi Consular, Yellow = Jedi Sentinel" is the original and most know that.
Let me try to answer a few questions preemptively without spoiling the plot: *Padme IS Queen Amidala. She has decoys in order to keep herself protected, which is why they all look alike. If the decoy is, say, captured, then Padme can escape. The decoy queen orders Qui-Gon to take Padme so that she can make the actual decisions. *Some creatures in the SW universe are more powerful with the force while others are more resistant. Those who are more powerful include members of Yoda's race while those "resistant" to it are Hutts (like Jabba, who is in this movie and A New Hope) and Troydarians (Watto). This resistance is more to the psychological effects rather than the physical ones (like telekinesis). *Generally, the force doesn't grant the ability to fly although it can greatly increase speed, jumping distance, and greatly soften falling. It is also possible for a jedi to cause another person to hover or float briefly, but that's the most that I've seen. *The Sith are dark side users of an ancient order. Darth Vader is indeed a sith. By the time this movie happens the sith were thought to have been extinct for almost a thousand years due to infighting. They are powerful and guided by strong and (generally) negative emotions, like anger, fear, and hate, whereas jedi are guided by peace and compassion. *The first three movies are highly political for good reason. George Lucas took real-world inspiration from the fall of the Roman Republic which immediately led to Julius Caesar and Octavian (Augustus). If the politics seems confusing, that's partly because it is, so don't worry. *The Chancellor is kind of the like the President and Vice President of the US combined. The "vote of no confidence" is basically an impeachment and removal from office with an immediate election to replace him. *The kings and queens of Naboo are also elected officials with specific terms in office, not based on bloodline. Padme's parents, for example, are not royalty. *Tattooine is NOT a part of the Galactic Republic, hence why their money (galactic credits) are "no good." It's also why slavery (which the Republic outlawed) is allowed to persist. The galaxy is divided into various areas. The core worlds are the innermost planets and solar systems with Coruscant (where the senate and jedi are) being the most influential, the colonies surround that area and are likewise important, then the inner rim worlds are next, followed by the mid rim worlds and finally the outer rim, with "unknown" space beyond. Basically, the further from the core worlds you go, the less influential the senate tends to be. Some believed that those on the mid rim tended to get worse treatment due to how far away from the core worlds they were. Naboo is in the mid rim, although it is close to the outer rim which is how they reached Tattooine so quickly. Often the outer rim was used for smuggling and all kinds of illegal activities because the senate had little to no reach. The exact designation of the worlds isn't essential to understanding these movies except to give you a little more geographical understanding of what's going on. *The jedi work for the senate. They are primarily emissaries, investigators, and police. The senate does not have a real military to speak of since the jedi fulfill that role fairly well and there haven't been any major wars in centuries. If you have any other questions, ask!
Force users probably could fly, but the amount of concentration to fly for any length of time would be immense and very taxing. It can be better used for jumping, short bursts of speed, or controlling your fall.
Didnt you react to Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi? Am i missing something? I was pretty sure that i have watched your reaction but i cant find it. it was removed? Great reaction once again keep up the good work.
@@thegamingenderman which has since changed to something Stef called the “Flashback” order (see back at the beginning of the video) because she wanted to watch Episode I for the first time and apparently Machete excludes that. I didn’t know about all these terminologies (Machete, Flashback) before hearing her talk about her intentions during the Episode IV video. I guess I’m pretty old school and would only do what I guess would be “Timeline” order if I felt like mixing it up.
Hello There! I know I'm going to be dating myself, however, I saw the original Star Wars when I was 4, but even back in the the late 70s and early 80s they still had paly bills for movies at the theaters' / movies houses. Darth Vader was always refired to a DARTH VARD DARK LORD OF THE SITH. Yet no one was able to say what a Sith was at the the time. Though what little information there was was in the novelization of the Star Wars which of course I did read until years later when I was old enough to understand it. Which was expounded upon in the novelization of Return of the Jedi which being adapted from the first draft of the script shows Vader and the Emperor recognized that Luke was taught by Yoda but both were refired to as Lords Sith. It was not until the expanded universe in the 90s was when the Sith were really fleshed out in extended media George Lucas' import that we really understood what the Sith where and where they came from. The 90s was the decade of lore that became cannon then ledged, but I digress, at the risk of being to much.
Stef, at 21 40, they had a puppet yoda in the theatrical version and the vhs version, then they made a cgi version of yoda for when it was on tnt. if you want to see what puppet yoda looked like search on youtube, Lisa Kudrow tries out to be a Jedi, she hosted the 1999 mtv movie awards and did a skit with Puppet yoda from this movie
I've seen Force-weilders levitate themselves and move around levitating, but never straight up fly like say, Vision from the Avengers. I've always held a theory about that. It might be possible, but you'd have to wrap yourself with Force energy and than propel yourself through the air. It'd take A LOT of concentration and discipline. But, it might be possible. Maybe.
32:39 Actually yeah, Darth Vader is considered a Sith in the original trilogy. We just never hear the term being used, except in this delete scene in Ep. IV. th-cam.com/video/fWZFhZxGeRQ/w-d-xo.html Shame this dialog got cut off, but at least it shows us that the concept of the Sith was something George Lucas had already thought of all the way in the seventies, not something he made up for the prequels, which is pretty cool. 👍🏻
I wish you had watched it in release order. By watching it in the machete order, there will be no surprises in episode VI and will make it a less enjoyable experience. All the answers that people looked for in episodes IV and V were answered in episode VI, and all the unanswered questions left over from the original trilogy were answered in the prequel trilogies which is why you may be a little confused.
@@gegeleduc If machete is the way it was supposed to be watched, Lucas would have released it that way. Every time I watch a person watching it in the machete order, they don't seem to react very positively about the films after Empire. Every time I watch someone react to the chronological order, they just don't seem to like the franchise.
@@BROPify I could care less if I watch these reaction videos. I only say it for their benefit so they can enjoy them the way the way they were meant to be. Yes, Lucas originally wanted to start with Episode I, but he didn't due to tech. So he made them in a way that would be enjoyable watching IV, V, and VI even though I, II, and III weren't made. I'm sure you watched the Marvel movies that ended with the Avengers. What was more enjoyable? Starting from Iron Man and watching the movies as they were released or watching The Avengers first, then watching Iron Man, and then Captain America, etc. Things were revealed in each movie knowing the way they would release the films.
The saber colours explained; Green & Blue are Jedi colours, Green is for someone who is more force sensitive than they are a duelist, Blue is someone who is a better duelist than they are force sensitive. Red is a Sith, some Sith use purple; such as Darth Revan who dual wields one Red & one Purple. Or Darth Traya who is actually blind from injuries sustained in previous duels, but has learnt to control her three purple sabres simultaneously using the force whilst she sits in deep meditation. Purple tend to only be used by extremely good duelists who are capable of fighting with many different forms; such as Mace Windu being a Vapaad specialist. Sith Lords however generally don’t like Sith who choose to use Purple kyber crystals as it’s not “pure” dark side, a purple kyber and using different forms is generally considered to be wavering between light & dark techniques and is therefore frowned upon. Yellow is usually synonymous with jedi sentinel it is the balance between consular & guardian. The most notable users are Bastila Shan from the old republic, and Asajj Ventress after obtaining one via trade after losing her Red sabres during the clone wars to Luminara Unduli’s apprentice; Bariss Offee. There are other colours such as White which is a kyber crystal which has been bled by purity; usually a fallen Sith’s saber which was originally Red but has been purified by the sanctity of the new owner; Asohka Tano is a notable user. There is technically a dark saber too which is black in colour but it is an ancient myth from Mandalore, and hasn’t ever really been proven to exist outside of storytelling.
The lightsaber colors do have meaning and they represent the different schools of though and specialties within the Jedi Order but its abit unclear if its offically canon anymore. In the most basic terms, Green saber means they are a Jedi Consular, they focus more on a deeper knowledge of the force and usualy have better telekenetic skills and mindtricks, they often are involved as negotiator, peacemakers or arbiters in conflicts. Blue saber means Jedi Guardian, they are more conflict and action orientented and are more active protectors. They focus alot on lightsaber training and mastering the seven different styles of fighting. They tend to be more of a frontline Jedi, helping where there is trouble. This was the most basic explanation on i could give right now, but there is alot of interesting lore to read about if you should want. Great reaction, looking forward to more!
7 months later, and you most likely don't care anymore, but the green lightsabers are used by jedi who prefer to train in their usage of the force, helping others by perceiving and using the force. Bluesabers are used by Jedi who prefer to hone their skills in practical usage of the lightsaber, helping others by defending them from the physical threats of the galaxy.
Short version of the Sith. They are the dark faction of the Force users. Emperor and Vader were Sith. A thousand years ago, there was an entire empire of the Sith, but they were nearly wiped out by the Jedi. The survivors remained in hiding from the Jedi. Only allowing two at any time, master & apprentice. Though, you don’t need to be dark side and Sith. About the lightsaber colors. There is meaning behind the colors, but it’s not explained in any of the movies. You can find it online.
Yes, lightsaber colors do represent things. A blue saber is for a Guardian of the Force and specializes in saber fighting. Green represents someone who is more of a master with the force than the saber. You're going to be seeing a purple saber which is supposed to represent someone with a balance of of the Force and the Dark Side within them. There's also a yellow saber which is typically used by protectors of the Jedi Temple/Order. The red saber of the sith is typically made from a kyber crystal that they took from a Jedi's saber that they had killed in battle. And then putting all of their hate into that crystal until it cracks and "bleeds" giving it the red color. And there is also a white saber. Those are made by someone who has defeated a sith and used the crystal from their saber & healed it...making it lose it's red color and unable to have a color of it's own. There's also one remaining color of saber but it's rather special and unique so I will not spoil that for you.
and behind the scene for the Purple One: Mace Windu's purple lightsaber was a request made directly to Lucas by Samuel L. Jackson, whose favorite color is purple. What Samuel L. Wants, Samuel L. gets.
@@thejamppa But without a doubt Sam was the reason why the universe has gotten SOOOOOOOOOO many new colors since the OT. And if it weren't for Sam then we probably wouldn't have even gotten the meanings for the different colors. Cause we all know that the reason the Green one existed is because the blue didn't really stand out against the outdoors of Jabba's barge ship. I mean, even the sith sabers in Ahsoka look a little more orange than red. So is that going to be a thing as well? Maybe orange is the sith version of yellow as protectors of the Sith Temples?
Duel of fates, the song the scene the fight the impact that had on ALL of Star Wars cannon movies shows saga. This film is so underrated and hated on but it was the perfect set up
am i confused or did you forget to watch episode 6? if so pls watch it, its a great movie :D but episode 1 is actually my favorite star wars movie and im happy you liked it aswell
In the intro she mentions watching in the “Flashback order” which I believe is referring to watching in order 4,5,1,2,3,6..+ any later stuff. Doesn’t sound like she’s planning to skip it, just get the prequel backstory before finishing the original trilogy.
You can be "Force sensitive", not a Force user but can detect it. Certain people (on/or creatures and other things) can feel it. Natalie and Kiera at the time looked so similar their moms couldn't tell them apart (in costume, makeup). Flying- The Fore enhances your abilities but if you can't fly already it will not make you fly. They jump, move, run faster with "superhuman" abilities. Energy shields separate the Jedi from Maul. When Obi-Wan activated his lightsaber, the shields moved and lowered/deactivated to stop his approach. Qui-Gon waited/meditated peacefully for the shields to open, Maul was agitated and eager to continue to fight.
maybe the picture is bad because it's so small, try enlarging it, and shut off the light bulbs behind it, they might be interfering with the picture when you overlay it
the color of a lightsaber is determined when the one constructing it, finds the kybercrystal that powers the saber. kybercrystals are usually blueish white, but when touched by a force user they change color, depending on the kind of connection the force user has to it. for example: the crystal turns blue when a jedi guardian touches it. those are very proficient in lightsaber combat, physically adept and good defenders and bodyguards. the crystal turns green when a jedi counselor touches it. they are jedi with great wisdom and a very deep understanding of the nature of the force. there are other colors, but you get the idea. red crystals are created when a dark side force user forces all their hate in a ritual into the crystal. flying isnt possible with the force. you just learn to enhance some of your inherent abilities, like jumping higher and further, push or pull objects, influence weak minded people, calm down animals and establish a connection to them, etc.
Although there are several characters that bridge the original trilogy to this one, it is as if you're being pushed into a universe that is new, especially because we are going back to a time quite a ways before Episode IV. You're doing just fine in figuring things out, and things will come together in the long run. Just my opinion, as I think you've heard and probably will hear from others saying the same: prepare to watch a few of the animated series that Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau did to bridge the gaps between the Episodes. The Clone Wars, Rebels, and several others really do help with character development and have several story arcs that would probably answer many of your questions, as they did mine.
Her name is Padme Amidala “Darth ____” is a title Sith Lords receive, not a name. The Emperor’s title is Darth Sidious, and Darth Maul got chopped in half by Obi Wan in this one.
To clarify: Padme is the Queen, she was in disguise and her handmaiden/decoy filled in as the Queen in her absence. In fact, all her handmaidens are trained to take the place of the Queen if there's any danger and give their lives to protect their ruler. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan knew from the beginning, but nobody else did because of their sensitivity to the Force.
I don’t care what anyone says, episode 1 is so fun. That pod race and the lightsaber fight at the end are top notch Star Wars and I’m here for it
Exactly. That race sequence is what really got me into Star Wars.
When it was in theatres SO MANY people, including me, went many times but usually just left after the podrace scene, lol.
the only thing i dont like is i jar jar and his talking i dont mind people being clumsy people can be in real life why not a movie but his talking bugs me i wish i could make it out a little more
I was 6 at the time of episode 1 release and loved the movie, it’s what got me into Star Wars
Haters can hate all they want. Their loss.
They *deserve* the Disney "trilogy".
19:07 Darth Maul is such a cool guy… didn’t even care about running over a 9 year old to get to his target. What a boss.
They're own mothers couldn't even tell them apart, lol
Also if i remember correctly Natalie Portman was 16 for this movie and Keira Knightley was i think 12 or something.

If calmness wins the battle, why did the first Jedi lose? He was calm. Try to think a little deeper.
@@Arkilonn_ I guess the Chinese Jedi wasn't calm like the Japanese Jedi, kinobi.

27:43 Qui-Gon uses the opportunity to calm his mind and preserve his energy as long as the power shields are up...
"Always two there are, no more, no less."
Really looking forward to seeing you watch the next two!
Fun fact Amidala is Nathalie portman yes, but her decoy is Keira Knightley
So glad you didn't skip the Phantom Menace. I always suggested release order but if you're not going that route then skipping Phantom Menace. is a big mistake that I don't know why anyone would suggest.
When someone suggest machete order, one obviously include episode 1 even if it’s not technically in it, don’t be of bath faith
That face when Qui-Gon "becomes one with the Force" is priceless. That's what we're all here for.
It's alright to Cry. STEF, your emotions are your essence and evidence you posess a truly, kind, sensible & caring Heart. You are a beautiful LIVING SOUL!
We definitely need some Queen Amidala cosplay from you! 🤩
The actor who played Obi-Wan in the prequel movies is the Nephew of the actor who played Wedge in the original trilogy
Was it a different decoy when offering commendation to R2D2?
@@Sandlund93 I have no issue telling them apart and was pleased when EP.2 featured Dorme played by another popular actress.
(If I'm not mistaking)
(You'll see why later on)
10:40 . ........👀
31:10 . ........👀
Hope I've helped a little bit😁
Also if you want to get the bigger picture you should watch "Star wars: The clone wars" and "Star Wars: Rebels", after you've watched "Revange of the sith".
hey, cannot wait for your revenge of the sith reaction. One thing, the time jump between episode II and III lacks a lot of context. There is excellent SW animated show taking place in this timeline called “Star Wars The Clone Wars” which is in itself even better than the prequels. I’d suggest you to watch it one day entirely anyway but only by following the chronological order list (on the internet) and not the release order (season 1,2,3 etc…)
But first to prepare your reaction to episode III, i’d suggest you to watch on your own the first 9 episodes on this list just after you watched episode II, which means :
S2 E16 - Cat And Mouse
S1 E16 - The Hidden Enemy
The Clone Wars Film (theatrical release)
S3 E01 - Clone Cadets
S3 E03 - Supply Lines
S1 E01 - Ambush
S1 E02 - Rising Malevolence
S1 E03 - Shadow Of Malevolence
S1 E04 - Destroy Malevolence

At the end of this movie Obiwan is hanging on then, much like Luke in Empire, he flies up to finish his duel with Darth Maul. Purple = User who occasionally uses Dark Side Abilities without being Taken over by the Dark Side (fights on the Light Side of the Force)
Red = Dark Side user they Bleed the Lightsaber crystal bending it to their will using the Dark Side
White = A Lightsaber crystal that has been Healed from the Dark Side Bleeding
Black = Possible Force user who brings balance/ unity to a species/ Race and the Force (not so sure as the Dark Saber is all we have to go off)
Yellow = Force User who is focused less on the Force and more on scholarly pursuits or practical skills symbol of a Jedi Sentinel/ Temple Guard
Orange = Force user who has a deep connection with the Force though will never take part in combat unless Truly Necessary
Anakin father was the Force itself, also the decoy is played Kiera Knightley
With how emotional you get, I cannot wait for you to watch all of these. Not that I want you to be upset but Ik they’ll be great reactions
(the crystals used in lightsaber construction determine the color)
And yes, Anakin was an immaculate conception. AKA there ACTUALLY was no father, the implication being that he was basically fathered by the force.
Force flight is generally considered a myth. But it actually has happened. Though it's mostly force-gods that can do it. It's nearly unheard of for mortal force users to accomplish it.
I’ve seen Dooku float in the 2003 cartoon, and Vader float in the comics. Not canon?
@@adamyoung6797 Float vs fly. Also Vader achieving it wouldn't have been all that surprising.

Obi was like "I'll show you a gut wound"
Hi Stef,
So with the force they can’t technically fly but they can absolutely look like they do being that they are still grounded in the real physical sense of the force as well.
Lightsaber colors used to be
Blue = Jedi Guardian, Green = Jedi Consular, Yellow = Jedi Sentinel, Red = pretty much Sith/dark side characters.
unsure when it changed, maybe mr lucas wanted to spice things up, I donno, but for most star wars fans the "Blue = Jedi Guardian, Green = Jedi Consular, Yellow = Jedi Sentinel" is the original and most know that.
Let me try to answer a few questions preemptively without spoiling the plot:
*Padme IS Queen Amidala.
Your reacting makes me wanna rewatch the series ❤❤
Force users probably could fly, but the amount of concentration to fly for any length of time would be immense and very taxing.
It can be better used for jumping, short bursts of speed, or controlling your fall.
Didnt you react to Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi? Am i missing something? I was pretty sure that i have watched your reaction but i cant find it. it was removed? Great reaction once again keep up the good work.
she seems to be doing the machete viewing order which puts Episode 6 after Revenge of the Sith
Machete order
Did she watch the Return of the Jedi?
Stef, at 21 40, they had a puppet yoda in the theatrical version and the vhs version, then they made a cgi version of yoda for when it was on tnt. if you want to see what puppet yoda looked like search on youtube, Lisa Kudrow tries out to be a Jedi, she hosted the 1999 mtv movie awards and did a skit with Puppet yoda from this movie
No Jedi has ever in the Saga shown by the use of The Force they can fly.
IV. th-cam.com/video/fWZFhZxGeRQ/w-d-xo.html
Shame this dialog got cut off, but at least it shows us that the concept of the Sith was something George Lucas had already thought of all the way in the seventies, not something he made up for the prequels, which is pretty cool. 👍🏻
Feeling the François moment minus the nose~flares at the beginning.
Nope machete is perfect
@@gegeleduc If machete is the way it was supposed to be watched, Lucas would have released it that way. Every time I watch a person watching it in the machete order, they don't seem to react very positively about the films after Empire. Every time I watch someone react to the chronological order, they just don't seem to like the franchise.
@@rxlxviiiI mean, you don't have to watch

The saber colours explained;
Green & Blue are Jedi colours, Green is for someone who is more force sensitive than they are a duelist, Blue is someone who is a better duelist than they are force sensitive.
Massive journey ahead, clone wars, rebels, kenobi, Andor, the mandalorian, book of boba Fett, the sequels.
Stef, there actually is no father. His “father” is the Force itself.
This movie was my first movie in the Theaters in August 1999. i am a big Star Wars Fan since then
Jar-Jar is the Clark Griswold of the Star Wars universe LOL
The decoy of Queen Amidala is the actress Keira Knightley she later becomes famous for her role in Pirates of The Carabbean
The lightsaber colors do have meaning and they represent the different schools of though and specialties within the Jedi Order but its abit unclear if its offically canon anymore. In the most basic terms,
Green saber means they are a Jedi Consular, they focus more on a deeper knowledge of the force and usualy have better telekenetic skills and mindtricks, they often are involved as negotiator, peacemakers or arbiters in conflicts.
Wants, Samuel L. gets.
@@thejamppa Sam gave the real reason. He wanted to be able to spot himself among the Jedi.
This film is so underrated and hated on but it was the perfect set up
In the comics of Empire Strikes Back Darth Vader finds C-3PO after he's been blasted and remembers that he created him
am i confused or did you forget to watch episode 6? if so pls watch it, its a great movie :D but episode 1 is actually my favorite star wars movie and im happy you liked it aswell
In the intro she mentions watching in the “Flashback order” which I believe is referring to watching in order 4,5,1,2,3,6..+ any later stuff. Doesn’t sound like she’s planning to skip it, just get the prequel backstory before finishing the original trilogy.
Love youre reactions as always!
He loved her so much that she waited for him to grow up 😂
maybe the picture is bad because it's so small, try enlarging it, and shut off the light bulbs behind it, they might be interfering with the picture when you overlay it
the color of a lightsaber is determined when the one constructing it, finds the kybercrystal that powers the saber. kybercrystals are usually blueish white, but when touched by a force user they change color, depending on the kind of connection the force user has to it.
for example: the crystal turns blue when a jedi guardian touches it. those are very proficient in lightsaber combat, physically adept and good defenders and bodyguards. the crystal turns green when a jedi counselor touches it. they are jedi with great wisdom and a very deep understanding of the nature of the force.
there are other colors, but you get the idea. red crystals are created when a dark side force user forces all their hate in a ritual into the crystal.
flying isnt possible with the force. you just learn to enhance some of your inherent abilities, like jumping higher and further, push or pull objects, influence weak minded people, calm down animals and establish a connection to them, etc.
Jedi can detect the dark side of the Force, dark side users, and the Sith.
However, some dark side users can mask their ability in the Force.
I watched more than 5 times of the movie.
Her name is Padme Amidala
“Darth ____” is a title Sith Lords receive, not a name. The Emperor’s title is Darth Sidious, and Darth Maul got chopped in half by Obi Wan in this one.
Got it!! Thank you!
Yes, rewatch it, rewatch all of the movies lol. Thats never a bad idea.
Why is Return of the Jedi missing from your playlist?
What happened to Return of the Jedi? Did I miss it?
To clarify: Padme is the Queen, she was in disguise and her handmaiden/decoy filled in as the Queen in her absence. In fact, all her handmaidens are trained to take the place of the Queen if there's any danger and give their lives to protect their ruler. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan knew from the beginning, but nobody else did because of their sensitivity to the Force.
