EVERYONE is in this movie. Not sure how many of these people you may know but: Simon Pegg was the parts collector, Daniel Craig was the storm trooper Rey mind controls, Kevin Smith was the voice of the "TRAITOR" storm trooper, Bill Hader is the voice of BB8, Warwick Davis and many others (several from Game of Thrones like Arya's sword fighter instructor) make cameos. There are also Carrie Fisher's daughter (sporting the OG Princess Leia do) and Christoper Lee's (Count Dooku) niece is the one helping Chewie with his wounds.
I didn't know that Christopher Lee's niece was in this. I'm glad she had that scene with Chewie.....it was pretty funny. Sometimes cameos get tossed on the cutting room floor so that's cool she's part of this.

@@Voltar I'd say the ones pointing out how much these movies hurt George's work are the true Star Wars fans. It's a shame to even have to write something like that, but the sequels split the fanbase, there's no way around that. My problem was never with 7 though. It was a decent enough start, even though it copied 4 too much and raised a alot of questions. But those questions were for 8 and 9 to answer in a satisfying way. Instead we got a shit show. I don't see anything sane about loving the new content at all. In fact, I find it a bit insane, since these movies even contradict each other, besides spitting on the OT. They had ONE CHANCE to get the gang back together and they blew it. Unforgivable. Totally unforgivable! Besides that, this movie is all right. But the next two? Nah.
'Getting the gang back together' in Episode VII wouldn't have served the story, which required Luke to have vanished and Han (the father figure) to have been killed, consistent with the first films in the other two trilogies.
@@mattrismatt if them having scenes together didn't "fit" the story just goes to prove the story SUCKED. These three (suck azz) movies were supposed to be the conclusion of THE SKYWALKER SAGA. That would have FIT the story. But I'm wasting my time trying to explain Star Wars to someone that futilely tries to defend the defenseless.
@@Mike-gz4tj You wouldn't be wasting your time with me. I've done my Star Wars homework and understand the logic behind everything that has been portrayed in the story... and what the story _must be._ I've seen the literal evidence of a grand plan in the screenplays and novelizations of the films. I've noticed countless corroborating clues scattered throughout the official canon. 'The Big Three' from the OT not having scenes together in the sequel trilogy doesn't "prove the story SUCKED". You just didn't get what you wanted/expected. Perhaps there is a better story to tell... one that was intended from the very beginning. Perhaps what we just saw was merely the conclusion of the third trilogy... and another is on the way. I think you mean 'indefensible'. Regardless, 'defending' is not what I'd be doing with you. I'd just be explaining what you misunderstood _and missed completely._
I will never forgive Disney for this trilogy. Making Luke a sad old man, making Han a loser dad then killing him, just making Rey OP out of nowhere, shocking planning of the films’ stories so it’s a giant cluster fuck and was a joke never having Luke, Han and Leia all together at all. Still makes me mad it was all treated with corporate hands and no care/ love
@@mattrismatt I disagree. Each fan is welcome to their own personal canon. We can all choose to disregard the content that sullies the Star Wars experience for us. I am never gonna rewatch the Obi-Wan series, for example. Because it was a complete travesty through and through. Someone else might prefer the new stuff over George's work and that's fine. But they are never gonna be able to convince me to do the same.
In my opinion, after Kylo killed Han, I think that chewbacca took it the hardest cause they've been together all those years and when you said "Chewie is angry" I'm like duh and I'll bet he was like "You son of a bitch!!! You killed my friend!!! 😭💔😡"

this movie is like copy of new hope, but it had new hope for starwars. overall vibe was good, even rey was mary sue she wasn’t obnoxious annoying. she had wide eyed innocents. i wonder what would happened if only ryan johnson didn’t screwed the next movie with his arrogance, or they just didn’t care the audience and just ran with their whole idea lol.
@@mattrismatt he tried to subvert our expectations, and kinda try to rewrite the original lore like anyone can use force etc. these two aspect usually stem from 'mine is better than what you did' which also comes from arrogance. in the beginning luke throwing away the light saber says it all. the first movie try hard to set up meeting luke and his light saber to have some meaning, and its like saying in the beginning of next movie i am just throwing away what you have built up. and i don't know what their original whole idea was, but jj abrams did lot of rewriting due to backlash of the "last jedi". he literally blatantly just ignore or undo what previous movie did... lot of focus was on that... before jj abram there was another director that was suppose to make the 3rd movie, but they changed it. i heard there is his original script on the internet, i haven't seen it, but i heard it is also crap. lol anyway what i meant was seeing rian johnson and jj abram keep trying to undo or ignore what each other did is annoying to watch, just do whatever the original story they were planning to do.
@@mattrismatt The largest slip-up he did was killing off Snoke. That's like killing off Sheev in Episode 5, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. And it created a vacuum for the third part of the trilogy, which J.J. unfortunately filled with Sheev returning and making Anakin's journey pointless. But he would never have had to resort to something so foolish if Rian kept Snoke alive to begin with. Killing off Luke was also a flaw, but that's a bit like killing off Yoda at the end of episode 5, which is more acceptable. Personally, I think Rian disrespected the whole franchise on purpose: Luke throwing away the lightsaber, the constant Marvel humour, turning Hux into a joke for no reason, Leia having a Superman moment, Canto Bight being a travesty and the entire plot being just a drawn out space chase and a complete waste of time. He never loved Star Wars, that much is clear. If that was the case he would never have had Luke gush on blue milk directly from an alien titty. But since nobody had any idea of what to do with these characters, Rian was left to roam free. And what was the point of Holdo? To underminde Poe for the sake of any feminists watching? If she was straight with him there would have been no need for the whole Canto Bight side quest. It's cheap storytelling that only lead to Phasma being completely useless once again. Now episode 9 is even better at forcing in plot points for the sake of it but at least J.J. has the excuse of having to mop up after Rian's mess.
@@mattrismatt Lucasfim screwed this whole trilogy from the beginning by hiring wrong people for the job. And that was because Kathleen Kennedy is wrong person for the job. JJ was the first director to screwed things up by the stupid decision about having Luke out of the movie, making Han & Leia broken couple just like that etc. Ryan was left with this idiotic plot about Luke on exile and he couldn't handle that properly. The last episode was complete trainwreck, but ideal conclusion for this whole mess.
@@LukopPL You can only blame George Lucas for hiring Kathleen Kennedy to run Lucasfilm. Assuming she stabbed him in his back before the contract ink was dry is grossly naive. "the stupid decision about having Luke out of the movie" came from the main narrative idea of the sequel treatment from George Lucas that he left to Lucasfilm in 2012, as revealed in Pablo Hidalgo's published *Star Wars: Fascinating Facts* book. It included a young, female Jedi hopeful in search for Luke Skywalker, who was in a dark place and had to be drawn from despair. Han & Leia were a broken couple because their son went to the dark side. How would you have handled Luke in exile? Keep in mind what was revealed in TFA: Luke's Jedi school had been destroyed after a student turned against him. I agree, TROS was the ideal conclusion for the sequel trilogy... but not for the reasons you think. What was your interpretation of its ending?
I didn't see a reaction to Solo: A Star Wars story. I am wondering if you will get to it at some point. I hope you do as it is a great backstory to Han.
My dad died a year before this movie. We didn't really get along. I never got to patch things up or say goodbye. He at least met my son, the grandson he always wanted. Like me, he has his name. I never really was able to cry about his death. I tried the day I was told. When I travelled back home to see him in his casket, again I couldn't cry. The tears would just not come. Not even when they told me that the day he died he was calling out my name asking where I was, trying to find me. When I went to see this movie with my wife. When Kylo stabs his father and the last thing Han does is caress the face of his little boy before he falls... I held it together for the rest of the movie, but the moment I stepped out into the lobby all I could do is think of my father. I started weeping uncontrollably while my wife held me. I try to be a good father for my son and the other three my wife and I adopted, but most of all, I try to make sure they know how much I love them. I know my father loved me in his own way. He just was never taught how to show it. I know that in the end, I would always be that little boy he held in his arms, because no matter how much my son grows, he will never stop being my little boy. I'm gonna stop now, can barely read what I'm typing through my tears...
I kind of like the old style of video editing. Where you are in a circle and then when it goes big, it goes blurred. The square is a little disorientating when it pops in to the middle with the other non-blurred video around it. I guess the square is a little bigger than the circle when it pops into the middle too. Maybe it's just the contrast of the white around you and the dark video. Not sure. :)
I've been a Star Wars fan since the beginning in the 70s and 80s and its so much fun seeing other generations enjoying the series. Episode 8 (the next one) is my favorite of this trilogy, but I love all the films and streaming series so far. Such a amazing world. I'm glad your liking it.

han Solo: Most disgraceful death for a movie hero I think I've ever seen. The way they handled the death of Spock in Star Trek II, or Vader in Jedi....THAT is how you do it.
I loved this movie for the most part. There are definitely big issues with the plot. Huge ones! but what it really gets right is the chemistry between characters, the tone of the original trilogy, the high stakes thrills and spills and the incredible music. This movie is the one I’ll keep going back to…imagining the next two stories unfurled in a very different way! Oh and I did see it in 3d with my kiddo. It was amazing and LOVED how Rey came across in this film. The best 3d part was the shot of Rey sliding down the sand dune, the depth of it was incredible! The fights looked great that way too. 😊
Nice one Stef, enjoyed revisiting this film, which I think was a pretty good effort. The next few... well, it'll be interesting to see what you think. You'll be fine with Game of Thrones I reckon. It's gory here and there but nothing you've not seen before in the films you've posted on your channel.
@@ronweber1402 Agree totally, although I think Last Jedi comes across ok on the first watch. It's when you think about it more or watch it a second time that it all falls apart and you realise for all the ambition, none of it really lands.
Luke didn't really struggle with the Dark Side, he listened to Obi-Wan's and Yoda's teachings. Luke would never join the Dark Side, he was a Jedi, like his father before him. What Luke did struggle with was Anakin's legacy. That is why he knew he had to save him.
I don't know man, right after he hacks off Vader's hand he seems pretty close to turning. And killing his nephew in his sleep wouldn't have granted him any light side points, that's for sure. He struggled, all right. Just like any other Jedi.
@@Sandlund93 Yes, because that brief split-second flash totally compared with someone like Anakin's endless struggle. And Luke has a nephew? Since when? And he tried to kill him? Why? First I'm hearing....oh you must mean those BS Kennedy movies.
@@jameskinstle6874 I mean, we are commenting on a reaction to those BS Kennedy movies. Being here kinda defeats the purpose of trying to pretend that they aren't a thing. But I agree. Compared to George's work, they are complete BS that we would have been better off without. They should have honored his story for 7-9, that was part of the deal. And if they screwed that up they might have even been able to shift some of the blame on him. But arrogance overtook them.
It makes sense if the Force is female. They clearly don't get what naturally gifted means. You cannot mind trick someone if you've never heard of mind tricks before. Not Force pull a lightsaber either, even if that is a bit more acceptable. After all, Luke did the same in episode 5. But that's 3 years after being introduced to the Force and Ghost Kenobi might have trained him between 4 and 5. It's at least a possibility. But Rey just sort of downloads a lifetime of training from resisting Kylo's mind probing. It's ridiculous at best.
History repeated itself because the previous generation didn't learn from their mistakes. (Generally speaking, they didn't even know they made them.) _"It's like poetry; they rhyme."_
@@Voltar No, the fact is you assumed that Luke and his friends/family/associates could reestablish the Jedi and the Republic after the Jedi and Republic had *utterly collapsed* (just 23 years prior) due to an evil they didn't see coming or even begin to comprehend. Lucasfilm showed that Luke, Han, and Leia became 'failures' because they didn't really learn anything, didn't earn their successes. They didn't have the power to make lasting positive change in their galaxy. So history repeated itself, necessarily so in an allegorical story like this. At the premiere of TFA, George Lucas said that the Star Wars story shows "what one generation leaves behind that the next generation has to deal with". _This_ is what was shown in the sequels. It's really compelling storytelling. You just don't know what you're watching. I will 'defend' my position because I have a superior interpretation of this story than you. Star Wars was never intended to be escapism. It's not about heroes beating the bad guys with good intentions, violence, and mystical magic powers. What do you think it's about?
I find it really funny that you think you state your opinion is superior. They could have shown history repeating itself in a manner that did not involve generally copying a previous film. While it was very similar to a New Hope, I actually mostly enjoyed the Force Awakens. But to call the next two compelling storytelling is a stretch.@@mattrismatt
@@Supergruntl Not if you hold my interpretation. The quite obvious 'general copying a previous film' was intended to throw off the audience so that they would assume the storytellers were lazy. It worked perfectly. (But let's not forget that George Lucas did it with Episode I: A young Force-strong individual from a desert planet on a quest to become a Jedi, instructed/helped by a father figure who is killed, etc.)
I'm sorry but how did it work perfectly? As for Episode 1 copying Episode 4.. You just listed one theme that was used again. The rest of the film was quite different. @mattrismatt
I really hope you can have your own opinion when it comes to these three movies. I get the comments and opinions from people not liking them, but I can also understand the ones who liked them. I grew up watching Star Wars and there's movies in this saga I enjoyed more than others, characters I don't like but it doesn't keep me from having movie marathons with all nine. If you end up liking them, that's good. If you don't, then that's fine 🤷♀️ hopefully comments won't influence your experience! Plus the thing with Han Solo...I like to believe it was more Harrison Ford's choice, he's been talking about it for years. It's easy to blame it on the director and Disney when you already dislike the movies
I love these movies. Daisy Ridley and her costars worked hard, trained hard and the cast had a great time making them. JJ Abrams did a fantastic job directing these and as everyone knows the studios made a huge amount of money from this trilogy. So, it's not surprising that Daisy is being cast in her role as Rey in an upcoming feature Disney/Star Wars film. Everyone who watches these last three movies always says how much fun and we'll made they were and thinks that's well deserved. Nobody ever says they don't like it. Most people say they like them. 😊 Thanks Stef. ❤
I am a huge Star Wars fan I mean huge I've seen everything Star Wars has ever done I've watched most of their content many many times. I think that nobody hates on Star Wars more than Star Wars fans sadly. I think the final Star Wars movie in the sequels was the movie that was bad but had good moments. I think in a bubble The Last Jedi was good and I think the force awakens was great actually the force awakens is my second favorite movie next to Empire Strikes Back. That being said the reason the sequels were not well received is because there was no plan. Every movie seemed independent of the other and so there was no storyline which is completely opposite of every other Star Wars trilogy. Please Dave Filoni when you write your Trilogy please make sure there is an actual plan when writing each movie!

I actually enjoyed 7. Set up for some good story lines. Then rian Johnston came along and shat on every Star Wars fan on earth, then 9 just tried to fix 8
Could you be more specific why you think this? Could the disappointment with TLJ be the fault of the fans... that they don't understand Star Wars nearly as well as they think... or as they really should by now?
Silly repeating of Ep 4 with adding Mary Sue is "good story line"? Star Wars will never become successful if Luke would saber fight vs Vader instead Obi and win in Episode 4.
Yup. 7 is no master piece but definitely good enough for a start of a new trilogy. The problem is they had to step it up from there but they went straight downhill instead.
@@mattrismatt I think it's more probable that one arrogant director doesn't understand Star Wars, rather than millions of fans who loved it for decades. But if his intent was to spit in the face of those fans, he certainly understood Star Wars enough to ruin it. One does not simply kill off the big bad in the second movie of a trilogy. Especially not in such a cheap way. Did he even respect the time he himself invested in his own movie? Why turn every character into ridicule then? Well, I guess one could argue that he never ridiculed Rey, Rose, Leia and Holdo. I sense a feminist pattern here.
@@Sandlund93 No, it's more probable that the director of a Saga Star Wars film knows more than every Star Wars fan, as he would have access to literally _everything_ in the Lucasfilm archives and even would have access to George Lucas, himself. That's just it: Snoke was never "the big bad". Neither was Kylo Ren. The story eventually showed this to be true. Rather than perceive the characters as being 'ridiculed', perhaps you should see them as _archetypes,_ each with a type of person to represent and a part to play in the overall story. (For instance, Luke Skywalker rose and fell, just like his father.) I suggest you stop assuming so much and start learning more. Truly _think._

@@Voltar I agree, if they intend to only tell the story, in a way that it makes sense, in the novelization they should just stick to making novelizations. At that point you might as well quit making movies and that's exactly what they did after 9. Disney really dropped the ball with this Trilogy. The only thing Disney got lucky with was with letting Dave Jon and Bryce work freely on Tales of the Jedi, Bad Batch, Clone Wars and Mando Season 1-2 also Ahsoka was good and that's pushing it but EVERYTHING else especially the Acolyte and the Sequels are the worst things that happened to Star Wars. This movie was good but I won’t get into what comes next so as not to spoil the experience for this pretty lady. As a life long Star Wars fan I did however feel we missed the single most important opportunity to have the original trilogy of Han, Luke, and Leia going on a final adventure together to save the republic because they killed off Han. Enjoyed the review and looking forward for the next episode for better or worse 😀
I agree that having Luke, Han, and Leia (and Chewie) in a reunion scene would have been great, I feel the decision to focus on the new characters was a wise choice.
Mandalorian is not true canon its still Disney. Even one Dark Trooper phase 3 is extremely dangerous enemy for Luke. Versus 3 of them even Luke will have no chance. In true canon one single phase 2 dark trooper destroyed entire crew of MC-80 cruiser. Disney made fast, smart and heavy protected war machines into same weak scrap as B1.
This is where Disney started to make Star Wars fanfiction. (edit movies/Disney+ shows) If only Bob Iger did not toss out George Lucas's outline. Cherry on top Kathleen Kennedy only knows how to put in self inserts everything Lucas Arts South Park said it best 'Put a chick in it, make her gay and lame!'

@@Mike-gz4tj You wouldn't be wasting your time with me. I've done my Star Wars homework and understand the logic behind everything that has been portrayed in the story... and what the story _must be._
I've seen the literal evidence of a grand plan in the screenplays and novelizations of the films.

TLJ is my favorite.
Love your reaction but if I can I still wish to erase these sequels from my brain.
I think you'll regret having that mindset. My advice is to think more about Star Wars, in general. (Yes, that includes Episodes VII, VIII, and IX.)
@@mattrismatt I disagree. Each fan is welcome to their own personal canon. We can all choose to disregard the content that sullies the Star Wars experience for us. How did Rian Johnson 'screw the next movie with his arrogance'? What do you think was 'their whole idea that they just ran with'?
@@mattrismatt he tried to subvert our expectations, and kinda try to rewrite the original lore like anyone can use force etc. these two aspect usually stem from 'mine is better than what you did' which also comes from arrogance. in the beginning luke throwing away the light saber says it all. the first movie try hard to set up meeting luke and his light saber to have some meaning, and its like saying in the beginning of next movie i am just throwing away what you have built up.
and i don't know what their original whole idea was, but jj abrams did lot of rewriting due to backlash of the "last jedi". he literally blatantly just ignore or undo what previous movie did... lot of focus was on that... before jj abram there was another director that was suppose to make the 3rd movie, but they changed it. i heard there is his original script on the internet, i haven't seen it, but i heard it is also crap. lol
anyway what i meant was seeing rian johnson and jj abram keep trying to undo or ignore what each other did is annoying to watch, just do whatever the original story they were planning to do.
Not sure. :)
I agree, it's throwing me off.....

Rey beating Kylo Ren is…something
The explanation is simple: It was the will of the Force. (That's what kind of story Star Wars is.)
@@mattrismatt Its silly attempt to justify agressive gender agenda and Mary Sue. Force have no will.
I enjoyed this movie but the story was better the first time they told it, in A New Hope. It's like they re-used the script.

They should have made him a force user ALONG WITH Rey. Instead they just called us all fans racist because of their character shortcomings- Finn & Rose Tico namely.
There still is potential, hence the announcement of the forthcoming continuation of the story. What do you think "they set up"?
For me personally, these movies and this upcoming trilogy you’re about to react dont exist. Literally a copy and paste of “A New Hope”
Yep. That's no Star Wars. Sorry. A very bad copy with no own value and full of plot holes.
@@sean---the-other-one Cheap copy and taking plot holes to God level. If you like them, that's great. We think is garbage. All cool. Live and let live.
Your loss
@@sean---the-other-oneman I've been reading starwars books for years and loved it since I was about 9. 34 now . They definitely all have plot holes. And the power scaling is fuck. It sequels was meh pretty disappointing but I think George Lucas didn't think it through and didn't consult othera. Be cause it's all over the place
If they don’t exist, why are you here commenting?
Disney really dropped the ball with this Trilogy. The only thing Disney got lucky with was with letting Dave Jon and Bryce work freely on Tales of the Jedi, Bad Batch, Clone Wars and Mando Season 1-2 also Ahsoka was good and that's pushing it but EVERYTHING else especially the Acolyte and the Sequels are the worst things that happened to Star Wars. You'd have to really understand the lore and pay attention to the episodes 1-6 to understand how they ruined it. Force Awakens had so much potential to be great but Kathleen Kennedy just destroyed it.
These movies are great.
No spoilers in title...
i like Rey despite what others think... just dislike the fact she is so OP so fast etc.... but she just needed a better story as a whole for her.. hope its get repaired next films
All Disney films are same horrible and silly.
You have a dog that looks like mine
I like this movie. Together with Rogue One it revived my love for Star Wars and made me watch Clone Wars and Rebels. Best decision ever! I love Reys theme.
Maybe reading the books would help
@@LifeisANovel Help with what?
@@gravedigger8414 good content if u like starwars
This movie was good but I won’t get into what comes next so as not to spoil the experience for this pretty lady. As a life long Star Wars fan I did however feel we missed the single most important opportunity to have the original trilogy of Han, Luke, and Leia going on a final adventure together to save the republic because they killed off Han. Enjoyed the review and looking forward for the next episode for better or worse 😀
I agree that having Luke, Han, and Leia (and Chewie) in a reunion scene would have been great, I feel the decision to focus on the new characters was a wise choice.
Umm, perhaps don’t put a big movie spoiler in your TH-cam reaction title? For the sake of others who haven’t seen it yet.
:)
This film is bad but it's watchable atleast. Just spare yourself the frustration of watching the next two which are just irredeemable.
Not a fan of the Mickey Mouse reboot but ig eventually you’ll return to the canon with mandalorian
@@Velanteg Literally who cares.
@@ge_ane Everyone who dont like eating excrements.
This is where Disney started to make Star Wars fanfiction. (edit movies/Disney+ shows)
If only Bob Iger did not toss out George Lucas's outline.
Cherry on top Kathleen Kennedy only knows how to put in self inserts everything Lucas Arts
South Park said it best 'Put a chick in it, make her gay and lame!'
As always Stef your facial expressions are the best. ❤❤ I personally enjoyed the sequel trilogy i know you will too
This trilogy is not Star Wars, but anyways...the Soundtrack is always awesome John Williams never disappoints.
Ayyyy I miss you stef Besos
Why why why are you always looking off to the left in your videos???
😺Stef!!!😺
Lots of great feelings. Lots of insults to the original material. Disney can go to hell.
Loving your reactions to this franchise! IMO, you should cease and desist this trilogy ... watch the Mandalorian, Clone Wars (at least important arcs), Rebels, Ahsoka, and (Rogue One prequel) Andor (all are much better content than these 3 films), THEN resume this trilogy. If you're wanting to follow in some sort of timeline order.
