I got a 2015 Infiniti Q50 and just had a refurbished valve body installed but the check engine light still giving code 0720. Do the valve body have to be reprogrammed???

Yes u guys are right BUT
Everybody will get the TCM fault code U1000
The new TCM must be programmed and calibrated. Otherwise the tow mode and self learning shift will not work. Clutch compensation and adaptive shifting also not going to work.
U have to use Consult 3 to update the firmware

Do you need to change both the TCM and the Valve Body or just the Valve Body?
Only thing you forgot is while filling up the trans to shift through all the gears and then check the overfill so all the chambers fill up. If not it will be low.

Hello just a warning and hopefully this helps but if you go from 370z to q50 3.7 tcm or g37 to q50 3.7 Etc. then you need to reprogram it the only way you don't have to do it is from the same year and model because every Tcm/ Valve body and it is unique to the vin of the car

Hey fam. Just bought a Q60 and the thing drives me nuts with the erratic shift points and other weird quirks lol. Was reading on an Infiniti forum about this issue and seen a lot of people saying that they had their bodies rebuilt by a company named Level 10 and they it completely fixed all the BS with these transmissions. Have you guys ever installed their work or heard of them?

@@AS-wd5et I did as well on my qx70 shit still went out so Yeah your right could be manufactured poorly as well they go at around 80k miles apparently we're not the only ones they were on backorder last year and highly inflated on pricing happened to me.
I went to a mechanics and make me change the transmission, and I still have the same problem, I won’t pass third, ( only goes to 60). And I spend like 2500 to change the transmission and he wanted another 2500 to “fix it “.
Did this require to program the TCM? I heard that if it isn’t programmed the car won’t switch gears correctly. Not sure who to believe lol

My 2011 M37 Just Bogged Out I Got Gas Got Food As Soon As I Got Home It Cutoff I Turned It On And Put It In Drive It Cuts Off The Moment Its In Drive So I Had Put It In Reverse And Does The Same Thing Its Just Cuts Off But Turning It On In Neutral Or In Park Nothing Happens Engine Runs All That Its Just When In Drive Or Reverse Smh Im Not Sure To Let This Car Go Or Fix It Smh

Same issue I cleared the code, and the car shifts past Third, but my service engine soon light came back on with the same error code p0720. The shop cleared the code, then I did it by un plugging my negative batter terminal.
@Boss Automotive Yes engine light ended up going off on its own after about 2 - 3 days.( I think it goes off after a certain amount of miles are driven, can't be sure tho.) But everything seems to be working perfect now so Def. Was the valve body. Had the same exact code as in this video as well. "P0720 Output speed sensor".

That means the refurbish value body was no good
Also Infiniti cars are funny so just get a new valve body oem not aftermarket

You’ll definitely need to get it reprogrammed. Save your old tcm so they can get the information they need off that one to transfer to the used one

Speed sensor needs to be replaced
When u dropped the trans oil pan down that red white n blue wire is the output speed sensor n it goes from that side up n over to the tail side n its plug n play into the valve body so why did u replace the whole thing u pretty much did more work than u had to
A transmission shop told me the transmission has to get reprogrammed after changing the speed sensor, no matter how many times it gets replaced

My car has this right now. Mechanics are telling me only valve body I can get is the genuine infinity one. But I was seeing ones on eBay and other websites that look the same. Would it work or no stick to genuine ?
They will work, but I have had some problems with some being defective

The speed sensor is integrated to the motherboard- but is the motherboard integrated to the valve body? Meaning can I just swap out the TCM on the valve body, or is it an all in one unit. TY

@@bossautomotive7786 I removed the valve body today- the TCM is just bolted to it. (4 or 5 hex headed bolts and i 10mm bolt. I don't feel the need to replace the large hunk of 'ported' aluminum I just ordered a rebuilt TCM for installation- (about 1/8 th the price of the new body). The car has 92k on it so- if I get a year out of the part I'll be satisfied...

The TCM is not all in one with the valve body it just bolts on. I just test drove the car and it's shifting normally and the dreaded P0720 is now cleared. I'm not sure if I need to get it programmed, there's no one around here that does that mobile, so it would take a trip to the dealer. Good Luck!

@@_JosephEbanks I ended up taking it to the dealer and they charged me for the shifter assembly. I’m not sure the what the problem was because the mechanic I took it to tried pulling it back and ended up breaking it.

Hey Boss, we changed the valve body and it will not engage to drive in reverse. Just watch as the rpm goes up but car doesn't move. Any advice ? Hoping to not have to reprogram...

@@FTFQUINN yeah we had to take it to the shop and the transmission was bad. Luckily the warranty covered it but unfortunately the valve body wasn’t enough to fix the issue
@@FTFQUINN we did get it to go in reverse though but shifting was not smooth and could usually not get into third gear

Build in to the motherboard. It’s just easier to replace the valve body.
Lol the video showed that it is intergrated into the valve body requiring soldering etc.

You might have to unless the part is out of q50, but if you get new one from factory around 1500 it’s plug and play, no need to reprogram

Not long,
Not entirely true. The valve body only goes bad if an Infiniti owner does not change their transmission fluid every 30-40k miles. Or never changed it at all. It will be a long time before it wears out only if you change your transmission fluid correctly. there’s some people who have had 130 k plus miles and change their fluid every 30k miles and no issues But typically this code is for the vehicle speed sensor which is a tad bit complicated to get to and most people change the body and not the sensor. Some cases you change both. The valve body has and input and output intergraded into the body. It’s just so expensive for the oem smh. But once changed it will last a long time before it ever goes. Just change your fluid people. Correctly.
Agree, I think these go out because of the heat from the burnt up fluid theres a reason most of these go out at 60k, infiniti recommends changing your fluid every 30k on these vqs. To be fair infiniti does also claim lifetime fluid which people actually believe in.

Go back over your work and check to make sure you installed the valve body correctly, if not valve body is also bad
