That looked like the exhaust bellows you were pointing out, no? I've gotta tackle my outdrive bellows at the end of this season and i think at the same time i'm going to just switch to an exhaust tube instead of bellows

Our poor u-joint bellow was dry-rotted as well and destroyed the gimbal bearing, came out stuck to the shaft…😬 That’s awesome you’re going to be doing a full bellows replacement project. You tube has a video how to put it back on with zip ties to pull on . I just did mine took 10 mins have to glue the bellow I also mine came off today
