- Is this video I cover the my roof rack setup and the storage I have anchored on my roof rack. Additionally, I show how I vinyl wrapped my 5th gen 4Runner roof rails gloss black so that they would fit the blacked out look of the 5th gen Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro.

I used 4 eye bolts and two of The Perfect Bungees to hold mine down. They have been great, low profile, and super quick to take on/off.
Thanks for all the info. I'm going to eventually put a go fast camper RTT on that uses the 5th gen mounts but I need storage space now. These rack rails will save me a ton of money. Thank you!
Super awesome choice. Go fast camper RTTs are so awesome. The LFD crossbars are so underrated!

Nice good info
Awesome , I have the Yakima megawarrior rack on right now. but I want to put an Apache case on top . I’m leaning towards the LFD crossbars. what were the measurements for the hardwares and what drill bit size did you used for the case ?
Thanks for this post. How was the wind noise with this LFD set-up with the fairing? I saw you went to a Sherpa rack, was that a performance or functional decision? Thanks!
Nice! Where do u buy em? Cross bar roof rails? And apache roof box? Thank u
I like what you did on the case mount but the screws are just too long...I'm going to do the same with shorter screws
I agree. I'll probably cut them with a grinder at some point. Definitely not ideal.
In this video I noticed the cool sticker above your trd logo on the side of the truck. By chance, do you remember where you got those? Thanks
Etsy, tactilian sells a similar magnet I use now and “OVLDENG” is a discount code for it
Great info do you know the H X W X L of those LFD Crossbars for OEM side rails I have 2021 & thinking of getting them. Thank you.
They are awesome and cheaper than OEM ones...If your roof rack looks like mine I'd bet they fit. The website says 2014+ so hopefully it's updated for the newest models. If you are super worried, you could contact them. I've got a link to their website in the description too.
Just installed them on my 2021 TRD ORP and they fit perfect
@@OverlandEngineer Cheaper then OEM? Which ones?
On Amazon, 2 OEM bars are $114 (free shipping w/prime), so a set of 4 would be $228 - and, being aluminum, they wouldn't rust and being aerodynamic they're supposedly silent, and if you bought 4 (vs. the standard 2) for extra support, you could probably mount a refrigerator up there, evenly loaded.
The LFD "steel" (not aluminum, not stainless steel) bars are $80 each or $320 for 4 (plus $28 shipping). Stock = $230, LFD = $350. And, due to the higher wind noise (than stock) you still likely need a fairing, too (which, at LFD is another $40, so now we're up to $390.
Basically close to $225 vs. just shy of $400.
@@cra2cra226 Yeah I guess they are not cheaper but you definitely don't need 4 for all situations. The wind fairing is also not really necessary in my opinion. They are not that loud without the fairing.
what is the width/height (thickness) on these crossbars? Thinking about getting them, but not sure if the bar would be too thick for other accessories like a kayak rack to mount? Need 1- 11/16" or thinner.
It looks like the bars are 2" front to back, 1" thick, and roughly 37" wide. The bars are 40.5ish" wide but its thicker near the rails for better support.
@@OverlandEngineer Awesome! Thank's so much. Great content by the way. I'm getting a lot of inspiration for my Black 4 runner!
@@ashtonandnetty Awesome! I've got some pretty awesome mod content coming thats not ridiculously expensive so stay tuned!
Thank you for showing how you mounted the Apache box to the LFD crossbars. I have a LFD rack and am looking to mount a box up there too. Did you get all the hardware from a store like Home Depot?
Yeah basically! The knobs I bought on amazon. Just make sure the knobs you buy match the shaft/thread sizing of the carriage bolts from the store! I will say that this method is better for mounting and leaving. The carriage bolt dig into the paint job every time you take them off.
What size carriage bolt did you use to attach the Apache to the LFD bars? Thanks
What size are the screws and washers you used to mount the case
Hole size is M8
These bars can be used if a full size rack is installed later on?
It depends...LFD sells a couple different rack styles. If you buy one of the narrower ones then yes. If you buy the full length wider rack then no.
@@OverlandEngineer I see you have a full length now, we’re you able to RE use these same bars? I think the bundle is close to $400 at the moment
@@landrykilpatrick949 Nope, I have a completely different roof rack...I wish, but unfortunately no.
