    As someone who played with both character models I can say that smilodon plays smoother but utahraptor had a much higher skill ceiling

    • @henriklund4288
      @henriklund4288 ปีที่แล้ว +474

      I dont know about that, i see alot of new players playing the Utahraptor. the Smiledon does have the advantage for the for the higher bite damage and i feel takes more macro to use compared to the utahrapter, as your claw attacks arent that good for slash attacks.

      it's weird - i see both y'all's points. A *ton* of utahraptor noobies just played dead until you got on top of them, then they just spammed kick hoping to land crit - it's here I can see henrik's point. But awe-inspiring utahraptor gameplay comes from those players who just had an innate connection with their characters, and it's because of that their fighting styles are so much more dynamic and aggressive, ultimately giving utahraptor the edge over pure skill possibilities.

    3:28 one thing I like here is we see them sizing each other up before actually fighting. Even if the final blow wasn’t a lethal one, a bad enough injury would prevent either one from hunting, thus starving them. Them trying to out intimidate each other, and feinting attacks, before fighting is very realistic, as most predators will try and judge wether a fight is worth it.

    Can we talk about the caution, threat displays, and feints the predators use on each other? Whatever anyone else has to say about the abandonment of the "Outside" ARG format, the low-res modeling, or whatever, I insist that the behavior and tactics in the encounter, and the evaluation in the voiceover, are deeply convincing and well-executed! The character of the animals' movements, the pulsating of the herbivore's olfactory tunnel thing, the pacing of the video, and the reasoned post-fight analysis are all spot-on and beautiful things to see... Congratulations, and best of wishes for the new series!

    The animation work in this is excellent. The visuals of Utah's hunting style clicked with me for the first time seeing how the team depicted it here. Somehow it never occurred to me how quickly Utah would eviscerate it's marks. The stylized models kept things appealing, but the motion felt smooth, authetic, and well choreographed. Cant sing the praises of this enough.

      As much as I love salt water crocodiles I don't think there's much of a chance, they're roughly the same length but the shark is like 6 feet wide and could probably bite the Croc In half like hippos do

    • @mitchellbradford9335
      @mitchellbradford9335 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I love Crocs, but this fight would pretty much need to take place in the Shark’s territory and doing so would give it a large edge I reckon. I’m giving it to the Shark 7/10 times. The Croc would really need to get lucky with its bites and strike first as its armour probably won’t do much against the Shark’s bite. Aiming for its fins is step one, but so would be avoiding the Shark 😅

    • @fortnitesexman
      @fortnitesexman ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah the croc doesn't stand much of a chance
      death roll is off the table since it'd have to take place completely submerged
      the croc's armor doesn't really do anything to stop the great white, meanwhile i imagine the great white is large enough to trade bites with the croc and come out victorious
      cause while the croc does have a really strong bite, it's teeth aren't really long enough

    • @fortnitesexman

      I will say, Having made both high and low poly models, It actually isn't really easier to manage because there is a _lot_ that goes into making low poly topology which deforms the way you want it to. You have to really localize things and have specific topology which deforms well. In high poly modeling, Topology is extremely important, But you also don't really need to individually worry about the effect of each individual polygon on your deformations. I would liken it to drawing vs pixel art. Neither one is really easier or harder than the other. They're just different skillsets which overlap in the fundamentals.

    It's fun to watch lower tier builds whose fight were impossible fight each other. As part of the OP human faction I'm confident that if either of these came for us we'd add another extinction into the list of accomplishments. Also loved the loop hero ost, you led me onto finding one of my favorite music playlists. Thanks

      @@lucasschepp6284 ''what it really looked like'' is kind of hard to pin down, being a creature that lived millions of year ago and all. Scientists can only guess the apearance of dinossaurs and althoug they are of course the people with the better idea of what it could be, most of the time they are just guesses that get contested almost yearly. A good examples is the T-Rex that got from almost dragon like, to lizard like and scaly, to feathred and colorfull, to naked with some plumes and the feathered theory is still hold by some.

    1:07 This scene gives me physical pain. Utahraptor lacked the ability to leap on a sauropods back like that, as it weighed as much as a grizzly bear. Instead it ate similar-sized prey, using it's sickle claw not to slice, but to puncture organs and pin down prey. Also Utahraptor did not coexist with Dakoraraptor, with the two genera separated for around 40 million years. Other than that however, this was a great episode, and I wish to see more!

    fun fact: the utah raptor was named after a human instated state, meaning the people who named it knew what later balance patches would be like. Basically this means there was a massive datamining scandal that until now has been undiscovered.

    • @Bogwedgle
      @Bogwedgle ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the size of the group of humans but that's generally gonna be an easy fight for the T-rex. It's an armoured 40 foot superpredator. Even if you could get a stone tipped spear through its scales at range, which is the only way you're fighting it and is a toss up at best, it wouldn't penetrate deep enough to really hurt it. The only way primitive humans win that fight is by not fighting it at all and leading it into a trap instead.

    • @chelmastly5802
      @chelmastly5802 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Honestly no worries-dinosaur media doesn’t exactly show it right, and your character build probably doesn’t have one to know how to use. No modern animal class does, either. I think the closest comparison would be large flightless avian builds who utilize kicks to do slashing damage but nothing quite like the raptor claw has ever been reintroduced to the meta.

    • @PteranoLiv
      @PteranoLiv 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The claw was portrayed wrongly here, raptors didn’t use it to slash, they used it for raptor prey restraint which consisted on pinning down prey with their claws and start eating them alive
