  • Sculpting polystyrene shapes for the garden and then adding mosaics to them can look awesome. In this video I look at cutting and prepping the polystyrene so as we have the basic shape to begin sculpting.

    I hope you do a video on what to do to prep it for glass mosaic pieces after it is shaped. I bought a sphere and the surface is not rock hard and I would think the glass would pop off it it's adhered to something you can push with your finger and make a dent. I was going to take it to a surf shop and have them put a thick layer of fiberglass on it, but I am concerned mortar wouldn't stay on that. You will cover that in another video probably. I really appreciate your videos-I learn so much. Thank you!!

      I did mention in Part 1 you need to have a hard surface as there are different densities of polystyrene. If you can push it in with your fingers the substrate is defiantly not suitable unless it can be made to be hard. High density polystyrene is the way to go. :)

    Thank you so much.. now I'm trying to figure out what type of adhesive are those here in Cancún.. will have to go back to home depot and read through all of them ..

      Thankyou and my pleasure, yes that can be an issue with different countries I would Google search and see what's available, you may find a great product but may come from a specialty shop. There are a lot of products available but I was trying to go for the least toxicity but one that worked. Read the manufacturers technical sheets and MSDS before purchasing or using as with any product also have a look at construction adhesives. :)

    Hello Peter, thanks for all your wonderful videos. I’m hoping to make a mosaic totem made of various shapes. How do I drill through a 12-15” foam (vertical orientation) to drive the pipe through them? Or do I have to split it the way you have shown?

    • @TreasuryRoad
      @TreasuryRoad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Harini, thankyou very much appreciate that. Everyone has their own way of doing a project but generally its cut or sawn in half and then the pipe area is carved out so it can slot into. Thanks for watching and for commenting. :)

    Please - how thick are these pieces? Thank you kindly!!!

    • @TreasuryRoad
      @TreasuryRoad  ปีที่แล้ว

      The polystyrene can be whatever thickness you want it to be because its to the size you want to make the overall shape, you can join them together. Each of the pieces I used was around 125mm. Thanks for watching. :)
