I like the performance but Butler just doesn't look or feel the same
Edit: GUYS, I'm definitley looking foward to the film and I think it'll be good, im just thought that He doesnt look much like elvis which sorta takes out the charisma Elvis had IMO. But now I realised I was wrong, his performance can definitley bring alot of neat stuff to the table and that this film won't be so centered on him performing and how the world loved him but more about the parts we don't see, his struggles and his downsides etc. so thank you for enlightning me.

Saddened by the details regarding the effects of the Tom Parker/Elvis relationship - can't help but wonder how different Elvis' life would have been without the control of Parker. Austin Butler was the worst "image" of Elvis ever seen. Nothing, not one thing about him, reminds me of Elvis. Worst choice ever for that fairytale movie. Extremely ugly, eyes like a se serial killer, couldn't sing.... Couldn't even act!!!
There are so many "errors" in that movie, so it's unbelievable. They couldn't even pick the right person for that role!
And why is that woman Priscilla all over the movie, she was never an important person, even she think she was? Poor Elvis, forced into that marrige....

When I saw the trailer, I wasn't so sure whether Austin would do Elvis right, but I saw the movie today and I was awestruck how he completely embodies Elvis. It is hard to fathom how utterly jaw dropping his performance is. If you love Elvis, you've got to see this. Even if you don't love Elvis. Ignore your reservations if you have them. Just go. Nope he's being criticized by Gen Z who think he's overrated and stole from more talented black artists.
Had this movie been released in 2000 it would do better but we're living in a more diverse less white centred world. New generation fans? Hardly. He's just seen as an irrelevant old white dude by many in Gen Z.

I saw him in concert in Oct. of 76. He was not the svelte person he had been years earlier but his voice was unbelievable. He belted out the song "Hurt" which was fairly new and he didn't miss a note. Years later I was talking with a guy I worked with (who was 6'6" and made of muscle) and he told me that he was at that concert too. He said when Elvis came out on stage with the 2001 Space Odyssey music playing that he got chills and goose bumps from his head to his toes. I told him, hey the same thing happened to me ( although I never wanted to admit it before but if he could so could I, haha). Anyway, it was a great concert.

1.show me in my comments where I say she is delusional for having a different opinion to mine?
      2. you can't compare any of the names you mentioned compared to Elvis. Elvis was for the white American. The names you mentioned did it the hard way.
      3. you wrote and I quote"
Most of his songs may have been covers but he is the reason that they are so popular today. He sang them in a way that very few could. In a way that emotionally resonated with a wider scope of people than the previous versions.
      a. Define his songs? ie, did he write them?
      b. if not I strongly suggest in the future you use the correct terminology, songs he sang that others wrote and Elvis was coached how to sing them stupid people will believe he wrote them.
      4. White America did not want blacks or black music period. We are not talking the year 2022 we are talking the 50".
      5. all of his performance abilities he got from the black artist.
      6. don't be delusional too about Elvis brining black music to fore front. Who wrote Hound Dog? Would you like a list of his number 1 hits and colour of person that wrote it? Was in the ghetto written by a black guy? Do you want more? I can't help falling in love etc, George Weiss / Hugo Peretti / Luigi Creatore white guys, so cut the bullshit he did so much for black music.
If any one deserves credit for brining black music to the white audience it is Johnny Otis. Johnny Otis He discovered numerous artists early in their careers who went on to become highly successful in their own right, including Little Esther Phillips, black artist, Etta James, black artist, Big Mama Thornton, black artist, Johnny Ace, black artist, Jackie Wilson, black artist, Little Willie John, black artist, Hank Ballard, and The Robins (who eventually changed their name to The Coasters), guess what? yes you guessed it black artists.
Elvis is the product of white America for white America, never have I said he was not a good looking guy, good voice, good entertainer. I will always said and continue to say he was a puppet.
