Except normal movie schedules and preparation are only weeks from booking so Covid was the perfect storm in that it allowed Austin over a YEAR to immerse himself. Don’t get me wrong, he is phenomenal-I watched the movie 3x in theaters alone. 😅😮❤
Baz believed in him and gave him the chance of his life. Baz is truly so kind to have done that cuz he did not judge his "underated" career, he saw in him a huge potential.

He was good, and might get a few nominations, but he won't win many. Brendan Frasier is way more likely to swoop up the award shows with his insane performance in "The Whale". And maybe Paul Dano in "The Fabelmans". There are many performances way stronger than Austin Butler this year.

Everyone keeps saying movie star like that's a huge compliment. Make no mistake he has that kind of star power, but unlike so many others who want the fame, he really is dedicated, first and foremost, to his craft. Between that, his good looks and his humble and generous personality he should go far. I just hope he has a good therapist 'cause he going to have a lot to deal with.

I lived in Memphis for 30 years and I saw just about every wanna be impersonator that came thru town. None of them did the job that Austin did. He nailed it.
Austin thought about the psychology of Elvis and what he went through. I think that goes a long way. Elvis just wasn't wallpaper. He was a real person.
I hope Austin's performance inspires more of them to embody rather than impersonate Elvis. They really need to up their game and show Elvis the respect that Austin did.

What a lovely young man! He's got perfect manners and just speaks so highly of everyone he meets. For that alone he deserves awards. Plus he's incredibly talented. Good job, Austin!! 😊

He looks like a cross between a young Brad Pitt and a young Val Kilmer. And he sounds like a cross between Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp. And on top of being absolutely gorgeous, he also has real musical talent. Another cool thing about him is he's not some silver spoon Hollywood kid. A random talent agent discovered him walking around Orange County Fairgrounds when he was 13 and got him auditions with Nickolodean. He was middle class. His parents divorced at 7 and his mom died of cancer when he was just 23. So he's dealt with some real-life struggles. He's also 31 and just now getting his foot in the door in leading roles so he's paid his dues in small time acting roles the last 18 years. Couldn't be happier for him. Never hear a bad word about him in Hollywood.

Correction: He was 23 or 24 years old when his mom died (his mom died in 2014. He was around the same age as Elvis when Elvis's mom died). Agree with everything else though

Last spring I saw the Elvis trailers and couldn’t figure out who the young man was underneath all the makeup but I was like I’m not seeing Elvis. I see Austin Butler’s name in the credits and I’m like “ohhh” and as much as you would think I’m gonna be so pumped to see my original celebrity crush (I see you Zoey 101) I was like nooo why did they pick a California surfer looking boy to play Elvis this is gonna be a disaster.

He took the responsibility of the role so seriously, and committed to it so hard that he literally can't shake the voice!! That's the kind of pure committment you don't see very much these days. But when he started recording Are You Lonesome Tonight, Solitaire, I'm Leavin, I Love You Because, Unchained Melody, I Miss You, and hundreds more I fell in love again and after death even more.

He really seems to have an ear for accents, which will take him a long way in the business. Don't know if you saw the interview where he was talking about being on a train with Stella McCartney and her dad, but he absolutely nailed Sir Paul McCartney. He just slipped in and out of it in the course of conversation, like he didn't have to pause for even a second. Amazing.

Yes he does and I'm hoping that talent, plus his dedication, will take him far in getting good roles. He just slips in and out of voices seamlessly, like he doesn't even hesitate. I was blown away when he was telling about being on a train with Sir Paul and Stella McCartney, how he just popped in and out of Paul's accent in the course of the conversation.

You should watch it, it's so amazing seeing Austin transform into Elvis! The only thing that ruined it for me is the rap music they played in some parts. Rap music didn't exist back in the day so the film should've sticked to Rock&Roll or blues from that Era.

Every interview I've seen Austin do, he never fails to turn it around and tell the host how honored he is to be there or says some sort of personal tidbit about them (like their children's names - James Corden), etc. Such a precious, humble man. Edited to say: Elvis's laugh. He had it down pat. That's when it really hit me that we may never see another film portrayal as close to Elvis as this one ever again.
