Why would Sauber want to sign Bearman? They for one don't have any close ties to Ferrari anymore so they won't sign Bearman unless he leaves the Ferrari Academy which he probably won't do and secondly it would immediately kill the Sauber Academy. If you don't want to give your academy driver and F2 winner which is still very young a seat, you can close your academy. Especially because the Sauber Academy isn't that big / doesn't have the same funds as the ones from the top teams so having the F2 champion in your ranks is a huge win. If they don't sign drivers for the Audi project already, it will be Hulk and Bottas or Pourchaire and Bottas for 2025. Anything else doesn't really make sense as Hulk is not really an upgrade over Bottas and really wasn't that great in the second half of last season anyway. Also Bottas' experience is more interesting for a team than Hulk's.
Well why did hulk get worse? Haas did exacttly one big Upgrade which was totally shite, while everyone Else on the grid got better. Also hulk is german, so the german Brand Audi would for sure live to have a german driver in their squad. And based on potential and results this season, hulk would be a massive Upgrade over bottas
@@martinlinke2084 He was clearly better than Magnussen in the first half of the season, especially in Quali. After the summer break Hulk wasn't really that much faster anymore and hadn't really any weekend where he could show anything special. Magnussen at least scored a point once after the break. Yes the Haas upgrade was shit but Hulk also didn't really drive it which was also kinda weird especially because the upgrade was meant to pave the way for the 2024 car. And how exactly was Hulk so much better than Bottas? Hulkenberg had one outstanding race weekend in Austria and gets praised because of it as if his whole season was amazing. Both drivers had bad cars in the end and made the best out of it by being at least better than their teammate. Again, pretty equal for me but i'd choose Bottas over Hulk because of experience in top teams and for the fact that he will be with the team for three years at that point and has probably a lot of insights.
@@SirZuri he had 9 Q3 appearances in that Haas. He was very good in Australia aswell. I dont see the point tbh, because the alfa atleast had 3 Circuits where it was seen to be good being Hungary, Bahrain and Qatar. Haas was consistently shit and Hülkenberg made wayyyyy more out of it. Bottas seemed most race weekends (for his standard, i highly appreciate this guy, even though it maybe wasnt comprehended as such) underwhelming. So for me, i would take him as a german car manufacturer.
I mean in 2022 Bottas really showed up Zhou, he had like 40 points on him in a car that probably shouldn’t have been able to get that many points… But yeah in 23 he didn’t do that anymore. Edged out Zhou, but not in a convincing way. P.S.: God, I hope Ferrari doesn’t make the same mistake with Bearman that they did with Mick and stick him with Haas
Finally, a TH-camr who's given a fair assessment of the improvements Ferrari has made, rather than just rolling with the memes. The memes are funny, don't get me wrong, but if making those jokes come at the expense of turning a blind eye towards their improvements in the last season, it just seems unfair.
Komatsu drew the short straw there. Haas still use the old facilities from Marrusia because Gene doesn't want to invest the money the team needs. They can't get high value personnel from a top team because Gene doesn't want to invest the money. Doesn't matter for what reason Stroll bought Force India, but he actually gets the investment into the team that it needs with brand new facilities and hiring away top talent from the front runner teams.
Vowels becoming TP at Williams feels like when a Merc Junior starts F1 at Williams. Get experience of the new job at the smaller team before you step up to the big team when the space opens.
Gunther was never the Problem. The problem is they are divided between Three locations and have not enough Budget 😅 Now they lost the most popular Character in F1. So their Sponsors get less exposure for their money. Maybe they will decide to leave and then its over for Haas.
Interestingly, while Prema don't seem to have any F1 aspirations, they have supposedly been weighing up an IndyCar entry, which I think could have some interesting impacts if it happened.
Mate what about Theo Pourchaire in Sauber? I personally think he has much more potential than Bearman, however I am open to a change of mind if Bearman wins it all (or comes a close second) this year, cuz you gotta remember that Theo was 5th in F2 in 2021, then 2nd in 2022 and won it all this year.
I do think the loss of Steiner is going to cost Haas a lot in the short term. A lot of their popularity came down to the funny "he do not fok smash my door" team principal
IMO there's one change Ferrari should make: Lecerc's race engineer Xavier Padros should go. just way too much miscommunication between him and Leclerc for that to be the ideal relationship.
Given that they’ve already sacked Rueda, and apart from Silverstone and COTA the strategies were pretty good this year, I think Ferrari are good to go tbh
@@TommoMcCluskey Definitely some part of the strategy team needs to change as even in 2023, the team made the wrong call. They shouldn't be asking the drivers for the strategy.
about your Olli bearman to Sauber point, Ferrari don't have influence over the 2nd seat at sauber anymore and haven't had for 2 years. its fully up to Sauber to decide who comes in now
If Alpine want a team principal to take charge but we don’t want to see Rosin leave his fathers team Prema I think Alpine should look at ART team principal Sebastien Phillippe. Phillippe took over from Vassuer and has had consistent success with ART, Winning the constructors in 2023 and I think now is the perfect time to move onto F1 for him
The problem with Redbull is that Max will destroy any teammate no matter who, so the best is a Daniel in that seat knowing that he can race for fun without pressure and get some good results.
I don't think it's unreasonable for somebody to be able to average a couple of tenths off Max. And that's ideal for RB. They've just got to find the driver that'll accept that.
@@BeyondTheLizzy thats like saying theyre going to put Yuki in that seat. It just aint happening. Daniel is washed and literally is nothing but marketing material to RB😂
Honestly, Haas should get either Drugovich or Gabriel Bortoleto (if he does well i F2) to the team because of Oakberry and it could really help with Brazilian sponsorship money and marketing (with other brazilian brands joining in)
As a Brazilian, I have to desagree with you. Haas already have one Brazilian driver and they have never gave a chance to Pietro Fittipaldi, who is coming to Indy this year 'cause he needs and wants to drive somewhere else (wich is almost every driver wants to do: drive). If Haas bring Drugovich and Bortoletto to the team, they will probably have their careers to an and soon, 'cause in my opinion, Haas will not get better untill Geene Haas sells the team (for Andretti, for exemple) or put some more of his own money into the team. And also, Brazilian money doesn't value as much as some people may think, just compare our Real with Euro or Pounds for exemple. So our sponsors don't value so much right now for the teams and the sponsors themselves don't have this huge amount of money to invest in our drivers, unfortunally. 😢 So, Drugovich, for now, I think is better for him to stay at Aston Martin, even if he needs to wait a little more if no other team wants to hire him next year. And Bortoletto is already part of the MacLaren Academy, so I think he will have a main seat in the team in the next few years.
@@walover165 To be honest, I really don't know why! And in my opinion, both Brazilian drivers are better than Mick, but in saying that I'm not saying he is a terrible driver ok? He was pretty consistent in his years in F2 and deserved his F2 title. And I totally agree with you about what Haas have made with Mick's career. I trully wish him an excelent year at WEC with Alpine and, who knows, maybe in the future he comes back to F1 again and on top! 🤗
Julie berg is, in my opinion, the far and away BEST option for RB atm as the main struggle with Checo is his quali pace and Nico is a Saturday Guy. He would also be easy to nab as he doesn’t want to continue on with Haas.
Haas needs to sell a majority stake to Andretti if not entirely. All the beef they may have outside of f1 isn’t big enough that they can’t both succeed. There is an opportunity for Andretti to bring up Haas as a team/product with the potential GM is capable of.
@@TommoMcCluskeyIt won't happen as Lewis isn't the driver he was in 21 and Mercedes won't beat Red Bull especially when they are thinking about RB 21 already. If he stop being as crashy as he became since 2019 and don't put a driver to have a serious injury. .
@@seanonraet8327 I think hes talking about max's 51G crash in Silverstone, but to be honest I dont think you can call Lewis "crashy", he's one of the best on the grid right now, I'm convinced he could have taken p2 in the championship
I think Ferrari needs new race engineers, i understand that a lot of the information given to the drivers goes through the team before getting to the drivers, but i feel like both Leclercs and Sainzs engineers have been lacking initiative to move forward from the pit they are in
Alright, hear me out. Bottas to Red Bull. Don't tell me he's not the perfect number 2 driver, just ask Lewis. In no way do I think this will happen, not sure if Bottas would even take that chance if offered. But I know a part of him wants to win a couple more races. He'd do a better job than Perez, that's for sure. (VB 100% Q3 rate with Mercedes, SP 79% Q3 rate with Red Bull) I don't know what's happening at Sauber, maybe he's not motivated enough to give it his all in a car that's as bad as it is, maybe he's happy just beating his teammate for once.
People severely underestimate how dog shit that Sauber was last year. They had 3 different races where Valtteri's pace dropped out of nowhere and still to this day they don't have an answer as to why it happened. The only thing we've seen of Bottas in a decent car was the first half of 2022 and he killed it. He was almost always leading the midfield. Recency bias is crazy in F1. That man didn't miss Q3 in 5 years at Mercedes, even in 2017 and 2018 when Ferrari had the faster car on average. Bottas is criminally underrated, anyone worth their word can see that.
Would it make sense for Haas to incorporate the Stewart-Haas sponsors? Most of them might be too small to sponsor the F1 team (Mahindra Tractors and SunnyD) and Annheuser-Busch left but they still have Mobil1 and Monster. Would be nice to see Tony Stewart get a job at Haas F1 but he's too busy.
The question is what is Haas gonna be without Steiner who made his team known via Drive to Survive and who got sponsors to ensure the team's existence, because Gene Haas made it clear that he is not gonna invest a whole lot more. For me Steiner never seemed very professional in his conduct, but he really did make a lot happen and was basically the heart of the team. The thing with Toto is, he basically *is* Mercedes F1. He owns a third of it, he was the team principal when all the success was happening, he is the head of the operation, he has that big trusting relationship with both of his drivers, I don't think replacing him would do the team any good. Bringing Vowles back as team principal would be great, but I can't see a world in where that happens anytime soon. I also don't think Toto would be content with suddenly not being the team principal anymore and he would probably wanna have a say in everything since it's what he has been doing for over a decade now. After a decade of eating the full cake you will never be satisfied with only eating half of it all of a sudden, that's not how life works. Imagine Toto judging every tiny move Vowles makes, it would be very difficult.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Josh Revel was also thinking along the same lines for Aston Martin, Lance, and the WEC program. To me, Lance just doesn't seem hungry enough to WANT to have those better performances as of late, and Lawrence ain't stupid. I think Lance's petulance in interviews from the back half of 2023 is a sign that he's getting a bit of heat for his lack of results from closer to home... If any moves do happen with Lance, they'll likely happen when the facilities are improved enough to be a valuable asset, Lawrence will likely make a business decision and sell up, likely to pour more resources into a WEC campaign with his son in the lineup. I'm not fully sold on it being at the end of 2024, just seems too soon. Then again, selling off to new owners right before 2026 regs probably DOES make 2024 the year...
How about getting a Guenther/Binotto management team somewhere? Guenther swearing and cursing and getting the brands onto Netflix, and Binotto just geniusing in the background. And they're neighbours and buddies.
Carlos Sainz to Red Bull 2025? This is something I have fell in love with lately. He's got the relationships from his Toro Rosso days and who knows how long Max will drive for. Feel like Carlos knows that he won't ever been the "number 1" driver over Charles, and he would prefer to place his trust into Red Bull over Ferrari. And if Red Bull is able to tell him Max's timetable and that would make him a number 1 driver within 2 or 3 years, why would you?
Regarding Ferrari: Leclerc’s race engineer needs changed. Far too soft with him. It’s like a father son relationship where Charles is the father, but it should be the other way round.
What I would change (improve) in Ferrari: the Ferrari Driver Academy. They've had some questionable decisions since Charles was promoted to Sauber in 2018. They pushed Mick and Gio too much between 2019-2021 and in those years, drivers like Ilott and Shwartzman got left out of contemption for the F1 seat at Haas and Alfa Romeo when they clearly deserved a shot. Also, since 2021, Shwartzman has barely raced (now will compete with Ferrari in WEC) and it's not a realistic choice for the future. Right now in the academy, the star is clearly Bearman but if he fails next year, then there are not really many "future WDC" in the FDA. Dino Beganovic is not F1 future WDC, neither is Rafael Camara, Arthur Leclerc (now fired), James Wharton (fired too), Maya Weug, Aurelia Nobels...
I'd ditch Xavi at Ferrari, so indecisive and seems genuinely incompetent. Lest we forget the Monaco impeding of Noris in quali? Or what about Monaco the year before: "ACTUALLY STAY OUTT NO NO STAY OUT"
Yes there were improvements at Ferrari but some of the best strategies last year came from the drivers , because the strategy team had no answer , also , pitstops on par with Red Bull? My dude they tried to do a pit stop with no wheels

@@TommoMcCluskey Bro the fuck you mean "😬" it's ABSOLUTELY The way to go
Welcome to 2024 Tommo. Looking forward to the content this year, u are killing it!❤
Buck up Barba!
That rework on the Tommo outro text is top tier.
You always make the smallest changes to keep formatting fresh and trust me it doesn't go unnoticed.
Great vid as always, keep up the good work boyo!
I mean in 2022 Bottas really showed up Zhou, he had like 40 points on him in a car that probably shouldn’t have been able to get that many points…
But yeah in 23 he didn’t do that anymore. Edged out Zhou, but not in a convincing way.
P.S.: God, I hope Ferrari doesn’t make the same mistake with Bearman that they did with Mick and stick him with Haas
The Hamilton move wrecks the first part of this video hahaha
Finally, a TH-camr who's given a fair assessment of the improvements Ferrari has made, rather than just rolling with the memes.
The memes are funny, don't get me wrong, but if making those jokes come at the expense of turning a blind eye towards their improvements in the last season, it just seems unfair.
I love the Albon Shout, Not expecting him to take the fight to max but he's a different driver from his first stint, would do bits.
the gran turismo music is so fire, thanks for another great vid!
Got to love a Tommo upload! Feels like we are fast approaching the start of the 2024 season!!
We back!
i genuinely think Vowels back to merc but as TP would be absolutely mint, but is vowels x williams that strong that he'd not want to go back? 🤔
Maybe! That'd be a lovely story, him bringing them back to the top!
Vowels becoming TP at Williams feels like when a Merc Junior starts F1 at Williams. Get experience of the new job at the smaller team before you step up to the big team when the space opens.
@@selder_7 Exactly that was my thought as well!
Gunther was never the Problem. The problem is they are divided between Three locations and have not enough Budget 😅 Now they lost the most popular Character in F1. So their Sponsors get less exposure for their money. Maybe they will decide to leave and then its over for Haas.
Moving Guenther to a less involved, but more public facing role would've been shrewd from Gene.
99,9% sure thats the Gran Turismo 3 menu soundtrack. So many memories! Great vid!
It is! Love when people include it as background music!
The new graphics mate 😍🎯
Bang on!
Much appreciated!
Kings Back! Damn 30 minute banger I Will throughly enjoy :)

Interestingly, while Prema don't seem to have any F1 aspirations, they have supposedly been weighing up an IndyCar entry, which I think could have some interesting impacts if it happened.
I saw that ollie bearman teaser at 21:15 ! Excited for the video tommo
The driver pairing one aged well 😂
Mate what about Theo Pourchaire in Sauber? I personally think he has much more potential than Bearman, however I am open to a change of mind if Bearman wins it all (or comes a close second) this year, cuz you gotta remember that Theo was 5th in F2 in 2021, then 2nd in 2022 and won it all this year.
I'm happy Formula 1 videos are popping up again. Cheers Tommo!🎉
I do think the loss of Steiner is going to cost Haas a lot in the short term. A lot of their popularity came down to the funny "he do not fok smash my door" team principal
1:56 I love the Gran Turismo 3 Dealership music here!
4:00 And Arcade mode music here ❤
IMO there's one change Ferrari should make: Lecerc's race engineer Xavier Padros should go. just way too much miscommunication between him and Leclerc for that to be the ideal relationship.
Surely Ferrari's strategist needs to be replaced.
Given that they’ve already sacked Rueda, and apart from Silverstone and COTA the strategies were pretty good this year, I think Ferrari are good to go tbh
Even now, with the recent changes?
@@TommoMcCluskey Definitely some part of the strategy team needs to change as even in 2023, the team made the wrong call. They shouldn't be asking the drivers for the strategy.
about your Olli bearman to Sauber point, Ferrari don't have influence over the 2nd seat at sauber anymore and haven't had for 2 years. its fully up to Sauber to decide who comes in now
If Alpine want a team principal to take charge but we don’t want to see Rosin leave his fathers team Prema I think Alpine should look at ART team principal Sebastien Phillippe.
Phillippe took over from Vassuer and has had consistent success with ART, Winning the constructors in 2023 and I think now is the perfect time to move onto F1 for him
Also he’s French which we know the team wants to pursue
The problem with Redbull is that Max will destroy any teammate no matter who, so the best is a Daniel in that seat knowing that he can race for fun without pressure and get some good results.
I don't think it's unreasonable for somebody to be able to average a couple of tenths off Max. And that's ideal for RB. They've just got to find the driver that'll accept that.
keep dreaming daniel will never get it
@@ishannage248Yeah~ Red Bull totally didn't bring Daniel in as 3rd driver for RB and put him in AT because they didn't want him in that 2nd RB seat
@@BeyondTheLizzy thats like saying theyre going to put Yuki in that seat. It just aint happening. Daniel is washed and literally is nothing but marketing material to RB😂
Ya this video format has ALOT of potential across many forms of media and entertainment.
So, Drugovich, for now, I think is better for him to stay at Aston Martin, even if he needs to wait a little more if no other team wants to hire him next year. And Bortoletto is already part of the MacLaren Academy, so I think he will have a main seat in the team in the next few years.
Why would anyone wish that awful team on Drugovich or Bortoleto? Schumacher is a better driver than Drugovich and Haas wrecked him.
Ferrari: No change.
hm
The Valkyrie program isn't linked in any way to the F1 AM program and Lawrence Stroll said his F1 drivers won't go there
As an Albon fan and a Tommo Fan i well knew that Albon would be going into RB in this vid!
"Ferrari... No change". LH disagrees 😂
Isn't Pourchaire a Sauber Development driver?
Wouldn't it make more sense for Bearman to go to Haas?
Haas needs to sell a majority stake to Andretti if not entirely. All the beef they may have outside of f1 isn’t big enough that they can’t both succeed. There is an opportunity for Andretti to bring up Haas as a team/product with the potential GM is capable of.
Gotta love the grand turismo sound in the background
I get the Bearman shout, but no Pourchaire seems harsh on him no? He is a Sauber Junior after all.
Ferrari: No Change
mmmm
Gran turismo music at the start ^^
If Lewis somehow wins the championship this season, I'd love to see Albon replace him at Merc in 2025
Bold that!
Lewis is still one of the goats but idk if both merc and Lewis are at title winning levels yet
but would love to see albon in a merc
@@TommoMcCluskeyIt won't happen as Lewis isn't the driver he was in 21 and Mercedes won't beat Red Bull especially when they are thinking about RB 21 already. If he stop being as crashy as he became since 2019 and don't put a driver to have a serious injury. .
@@evonne_o?? Who has Lewis seriously injured?
@@seanonraet8327 I think hes talking about max's 51G crash in Silverstone, but to be honest I dont think you can call Lewis "crashy", he's one of the best on the grid right now, I'm convinced he could have taken p2 in the championship
Funny the first thing I've learned from this video was that Mazepin was a test driver for Racing Point.
Ferrari should replace Charles Race Engineer.
I think Ferrari needs new race engineers, i understand that a lot of the information given to the drivers goes through the team before getting to the drivers, but i feel like both Leclercs and Sainzs engineers have been lacking initiative to move forward from the pit they are in
Really interesting call on bringing in Rene for Alpine, I like that.
Massive points for using the old-school Gran Turismo backing music. Love it.
Ferrari aged well...
(VB 100% Q3 rate with Mercedes, SP 79% Q3 rate with Red Bull)
I don't know what's happening at Sauber, maybe he's not motivated enough to give it his all in a car that's as bad as it is, maybe he's happy just beating his teammate for once.
Love the Gran Turismo music!
'One transfer EVERY F1 team should make..'
Ferrari: None
Me: -.-
People severely underestimate how dog shit that Sauber was last year.
I think that Bottas would be reliably clear of Hülkenberg. Bottas + Hülk could be a good combo though.
I am enjoying this video soooo much!
I am surprised to not see Pourchaire get mentioned for Sauber - isn’t he their academy driver?
I think Drugovich is underrated. Like a lot.
But I like your suggestions. Seems well researched and convincing.
THAT GRAN TOURISMO SOUNDTRACK LESGO
Regarding Ferrari:
Leclerc’s race engineer needs changed. Far too soft with him. It’s like a father son relationship where Charles is the father, but it should be the other way round.
Loving the new intro
Tommo, in your opinion, what does Logan need to do to keep his seat (relative to Alex) for 2025?
Tuuka Taponen dominating Formula Regional Middle East
@@bsylvester713 I didn't say anything about Tuukka. I have faith in him, but he is still far from F1.
My dude they tried to do a pit stop with no wheels
checo and albon great pairing for williams, plus they have james vowles now
if the switch happens, williams really fight for p6 maybe even p5,atleast they will be solid p7 by margin
New team radios for AM would be like "Felipe, Fernando is faster than you, that's the message, do you understand? Fernando is faster than you"
Haas having the NASCAR relation could work to get more American sponsors involved that may be connected to Haas' NASCAR stuff.
there are inconsistincies
If you take Mclaren's marketing director out of Mclaren's business, you should find sb who will fill her shoes, you cannot say no change
If you take Williams' executive director out of Williams' business, you should find sb who will fill his shoes
I think you’re onto something with your suggestion for Mercedes. It makes sense. Allison stays on tech director, Vowles as principal 👍
If I'm an investor in Aston Martin and Lance has a 2024 driver's seat, I'm pulling out.
Agreed getting Toto out. Since Mercedes fall from grace he’s been desperate and making bad sound bites.
Tommo you can’t be serious. Bearman in at Sauber over Pourchaire? Theo is basically guaranteed that seat for 2025 already.
Ferrari, Audi & Sauber all have their own prerogatives at the end of the day.
Checco winning, Verstappen wont let that happen
perez albon Williams sounds so goooood
I'd argue Ricciardo's best season was 2020, he absolutely wiped the floor with Ocon.
2014, he beat 4-time WC at his first season in RB
