A great thorough explanation of the specs. Thank you. As other channels have missed out on covering the finer details. As a 50 year old Australian, who started out on mini dirt bikes as a 4 year old, then progressed up with dirt bikes until I could get my license for the streets where my first one was a TZR-250. Loved that bike. Then spent time racing in the Australian 250 cc Production class on RGV-250’s and then finishing off racing in the Australian Superbike Championship late 90’s. So, as someone, with experience, who still loves two wheels as much as I’ve ever done I will be adding one of these into my garage this year just on looks alone. The rest of the package is purely a bonus! 👍😎🇦🇺

Nice one Simon....I think i prefer with lower fairing but either ways it looks fab. Tbf 12.5k these days isnt bad for what you get. Great package. When you getting yours?
One reason why I prefer the setup of the Velocity Moto kit. Keeps the straight bars and more comfortable ergos of the stock bike. I also prefer the headlight on that kit too.
Such a great looking bike compared to the rest of the MT / XSR range. I do think Yamaha noticed how popular the Velocity moto conversions have been on the XSR900 and 700. Think plenty of these bikes are going to be sold.
I think many prospective buyers will hang on to their money until they see the imminent R9. If they are not careful there could be a lot of XSR900 GP owners with buyer’s regret next year.
The R9 will fill a different roll. It will not be a retro type machine. It's riding position if it comes out will be more radical and thus uncomfortable.
Great review, best yet by a mile & I've seen them all. Stunning bike & a not too silly price either. Very very tempting. It'll be interesting to see how well it actually sells given all the interest. If they keep making it, magine all the stunning paint jobs they can use...black & red RD, white & red LC, blue & yellow or red & white TZR, black & yellow TZ. The list goes on.
You may already know but the answer is yes. I was lucky in that they gave the first 40 people to put a deposit down on one of these in my country (NZ) the bottom fairing for free (normally about $800) which I managed to secure. I get the bike next month.
I’ve seen a few say this but I don’t really agree. The trx was meant to cash in on those who wanted a Ducati but couldn’t afford one. It wasn’t really a sporty bike and wasn’t very fast. This bike has 50% more power and weighs less. A while different standard of performance with fully modern tech. The trx was pretty bare bones when it was new

these LOOK absolutely amazing.. however, the specs aren't all that impressive? my 2024 ZX6R is putting down 130whp. @117bhp for this 900, it's probably only putting down 102-105whp? i was looking at these for a brief moment, until i'd realized they're the same price as the ZX6R 40th anniversary without being able to touch the performance of the Ninja.. we already know what i went with..
You did have a look on the torque figures, did you? On the street, the xsr should perform better than a 636. The anniversary Kawa is so sweet it does not even matter. Have fun, awesome bike.
@@christiand.7930 the new 636 has improved cam profile which is noticeably better than prev years.. the gearbox is also so close ratio, that i barely notice a difference between it and my liter-bike (R1)
@@fyorbane i'd read reviews that the pegs were too high, so i went into things thinking, "rearsets" but after riding it, i dont find the bars to be too low or the pegs to be too high.. and im 6ft 185lbs. handling is absolutely amazing and after shedding some exhaust weight (amongst other bits) it's 30+lbs lighter!
Great looking bike, though I fear the riding position is too aggressive for most blokes that have the money to blow on such a great bike. We are of an age where comfort is the overriding factor. I want one but my joints won’t allow!
The side stand is too short...the seat could be lower...the clutch engages right out there not good for small hands..the quick release fairing pins and zeus fasteners dont do anything taking the fairing of will take you a couple of hours once you work it out...the seats to hard...the akropovic adds 1.4 hp but sounds the same looks better though... my 98r1 is more livable even with lower bars...BUT I STILL LOVE IT.. ITS NEARLY RUN IN
Yamaha just put the damn bottom fairing on every bike! It’s supposed to be a FAIRED BIKE so what’s the problem are you that cheap? It completes the look of the bike so well. Without the bottom fairing it just looks like it’s missing something.
They post-rationalise the decision by saying it's to allow riders with a memory of the TRX850 or original 1986 FZ750 to get something from the bike. Personally, I quite like it without the lowers, but then I always preferred half-faired bikes... I like seeing the motor.
Thank you! - sorry about the one-handed thing; several people have commented on other videos. I'll try not to do it so much, but it's an expressive thing. Don't worry, it's all perfectly in (one) hand. Sometimes I ride with my left hand on the right handlebar, just because I like feeling what counter-countersteering is like 🙃
Gorgeous - not you, mr reviewer! What lets it down is 1) the headlamp, though I can see why it's like that if you want a replica track bike. 2) the rear number plate/light mount (I realise this is for EU law, or whatever). But 3) That exhaust is just so wrong? It is screaming out, I think, for twin, or triple silencers out there on the right side of the bike. That is going to be up to Akrapovic or some-one to address. Would I buy one tomorrow, funds permitting? HELL YESS! :-)
How do you find that alpinestars javket? I’m thinking of investing in one. But I am a 6ft4 fatty 😃 Also, love that bike…..best looking thing since the 916!
Soooooo!!!! YAMAHA!!!! My 2020 Street Triple RS (as well as my wife and bank account) says: Thank you, Thank you very much, for not bringing the 900GP to the U.S.😡😠😤
Cadwell, definitely, but would it be just the ticket on wet, miserable bumpy UK roads? Younger riders won’t have the history of the retro looks and older riders probably won’t want the crouching riding position. Then there’s the jarring small square afterthought that is the headlight. If you’re doing a retro do it properly FFS and put a round headlight in a rounded fairing!
Everything but the mirrors it’s just me. Bar end mirrors and my ability to destroy them is a long history. What we really need in a helmet tech that gives us a floating heads up display for everything
@@magaudion I paid £10k in Jan 23 for mine brand new from P&H and I had other dealers willing to sell me one for the same money. The Ohlins shock alone must surely be worth more than an ABS half fairing and a paint job?

The list price of the GP is only £700 more than the MT09SP.The fact you negotiated a deal on an old bike is not even relevant !
I'm not really sure why everyone is raving about the looks. It really doesn't look cohesively put together. To me, it looks like a parts bin bike.... because it is. The tank's bulbous design, dimensions, and lines don't work with the fairing nor the rear hump. It needed a different tank to pull in the front and rear together and not just a simple swap-over from the naked XSR. The rear hump is way too small, it should be wider, and should be one piece with the seat unit like how it was in the old bikes. This bike just looks like 4 different teams designed it. One team designed the rear hump area, one team designed the frame engine and swingarm (they do come from a different bike after all), one team designed the tank area, and another team designed the front fairing. It just doesn't work together. Lazily put together.

I was looking for this comment.
these LOOK absolutely amazing.. however, the specs aren't all that impressive? my 2024 ZX6R is putting down 130whp.
Love that new ZX6R but the riding position is lot more radical and it will have nothing like the grunt of the Yam.
Boy it needs a tail tidy more than any bike known to man.
Honestly only thing that's off is the gauge cluster, good ol' analog would look far better here
It does have competition in the MV Superveloce and the Triumph 1200RR, but both of thos are double the price.
Lovely looking bike, but it's crying out for faring mounted mirrors. Bar-end mirrors are dreadful.
Hope you enjoyed Sintra.
I guess you liked it then 😂 😂😂 Great review 👍
Lovely at explaining things but, the amount of time you spend riding one handed is a bit disturbing.
HELL YESS! :-)
Just for a moment... 😂
speaking for everyone in the United States, we want it
How do you find that alpinestars javket? I’m thinking of investing in one. But I am a 6ft4 fatty 😃
Also, love that bike…..best looking thing since the 916!
I want one just to look at. I'd have to then say to my Tracer 900, beauty is skin deep, I love you just as much ... honestly....
Well done Yamaha.
Deposit down Si?
All over it 😏
Not coming to USA 😅😂😭
Soooooo!!!!
YAMAHA!!!!
My 2020 Street Triple RS (as well as my wife and bank account) says:
Thank you, Thank you very much, for not bringing
the 900GP to the U.S.😡😠😤
3 cylinder trx850.
Great review but what camera you using as could only get 1080 max res unlike 2160 as expected ?
Everything but the mirrors it’s just me. Bar end mirrors and my ability to destroy them is a long history. What we really need in a helmet tech that gives us a floating heads up display for everything
The price has killed it stone dead for me
What ? It’s a bloody bargain !!!!
@@magaudion My MT09SP was only £10k where is the extra £2k+ for this?
@@terrynicholson9273 the MT09SP is £11806 so this is only £700 more . The fairing alone would cover that !!
@@magaudion I paid £10k in Jan 23 for mine brand new from P&H and I had other dealers willing to sell me one for the same money. The Ohlins shock alone must surely be worth more than an ABS half fairing and a paint job?
@@terrynicholson9273 so you’ve got the old model which the dealers wanted to shift to make room for the much improved 2024 bike ? You can’t compare an old bike with a new bike ! The list price of the GP is only £700 more than the MT09SP.The fact you negotiated a deal on an old bike is not even relevant !
Tail tidy and a nice pipe 😮
A beautiful bike considering the absolute moose the original is.
Opinion from a nobody...
@@60435 I’ve given my opinion, explaining the factual reasons leading me to form this opinion. If you don’t like it fine. You can have your own or you could at least explain why my reasons are wrong. But to say a nobody…. I would say stop projecting, some of us have educations in Engineering at some of the world’s best universities.
