    Totally been there don’t worry! We always lose a week or so through illness or niggles and even just some bad sessions. Completely normal. Some good weeks coming up soon !

    Evening Rich, if training does tail off. I’m going to run 8 min a mile at Brighton. 3.30ish.
    Slower than past times, but just to (enjoy) it. If you want to tag along.

    Another top quality episode, Rich. A real comedy drama vibe about it. If you could get the writers to just reduce the drama levels a little bit.... I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for the main character. 😢

    This is top quality content, I love the moaning and realism, it’s like the “working man’s running channel” (although the irony is, as you pointed out, you don’t actually have a job). Also I pulled my calf last week so know all about that, very frustrating.

      @@TheRichKeeble glad to hear you’ve had some work! Calf is good, actually rested it this time, normally I just keep doing “test runs” that make it worse until I have to take a prolonged period off. This time I was more sensible.

    Might seem like an obvious statement but I find just checking the local ambient temperature on my iPhone before I head out on a run really helps clothing choice. 10⁰ and below I "layer up" and anything above 12⁰ is definitely doable with a single layer. Gets a bit more tricky if it's windy or very changeable conditions.

      You're absolutely right, the thing is I've now got into the habit of wearing another layer and the gloves. Before I had the jacket and the gloves I would just go out with the single layer! By the time I'm running again though it'll be boiling hot by the looks of it!

    One of those things Rich. Just do what you can for the remaining weeks and then give it your best in Brighton. We are very lucky if we manage an entire training block with no problems. That mate of yours is a bit annoying. You should probably film your videos in a different room so he can’t distract you.

    Those weekly mileage numbers are a Kelvin Kiptum level suck. Kick the plan and up the nearest orifice where a pricey Ben Parkes cap won't see the sunshine. Oh for a training plan that doesn't leave you messed up.and needing treatment BEFORE the race starts. 😮

      Yeah, complete rest and bring thoroughly curmudgeonly are the best remedies. I'm a lot older than you and you're a much better runner than me (I've only been running for 18 months), look after yourself and you'll be in good nick on the day. I'm volunteering on a water station/High 5 spot that day so I'll keep an eye out for you. I've also withdrawn from Brighton half tomorrow. Running eh? Great fun 😂

    Enjoyable video as always Rich.
    It may help (although what works for me may not work for you) the pain in my calves is related to tight hamstrings.
    Looking forward to your next video.

    If you've got a calf niggle please try to avoid stretching it as this may aggravate it further. Try to load it to strengthen it, foam roll it if there's an adhesion or even better seek the advice of a PT.

      hey Rod - thanks for the kind info! After my additional falling injury I've basically been resting it and having been stretching it all. Once I'm back to running I will definitely do the strength training!

    On my long run yesterday it’s the closest I’ve ever come to 💩 myself. Diverted back home mid run, but the 20 mins leading up to getting home were fraught with danger

      oof it's stressful isn't it! Hasn't happened to me too often but maybe I'm just not used to having that many gels in that space of time
