Storm Barbara windy Arrivals and Departures at Newcastle Airport HD

- As Storm Barbara passed over the UK the disruption it caused further north was far more widespread.
Down in the Northeast, the wind was not as bad as in Scotland. When I arrived at the airport it was gusting at around 25kts at 10:00. By the time I left at around 14:20, it was between 35-40kts gusting.
The conditions made for some bumpy approaches.
Some of my favourites were the Emirates 777 being caught in the wind as it was departing at 8:10
Another was the Easyjet G-EZPH that diverted from Edinburgh made a very sharp bank as it took off runway 25 at 08:50.
Quite shaky footage due to the wind. Apologies for that.

Love these head-on landing and takeoff views, looks like it was a fun day for spotting. I'd love to make it to Newcastle to experience it in spotting some day!

Fantastic Jonathan. Now these are the landings and take offs I like to be on. That Emirates looked magnificent as she took off. Whilst you braved it in this horrible extreme weather...i was relaxing in my Schiphol hotels spa facilities occasionally cooling down in the shower after spending quality time in the saunas and steamroom. The sacrifices we have to make sometimes Jonathan 😉.

Jonathan Winton The movement to the side of the Emirates really is awesome....the engine is almost over the grass. I'm on that Ryanair flight to Malaga this Saturday morning...I'm taking Boy Wonder my son with me...he doesn't actually know he is coming with me so it will be a nice surprise. I asked him if he wanted to stay up the Doubletree By Hilton at the airport the night before my flight to Malaga...I knew he couldn't resist a stay up there...and told him his mother would pick him up the next morning...he said yes. I will probably tell him the morning of the flight.
AMAZING!!!!!! Caught some action from Barbara at LHR as well, but it was no where near the scale of this

It has you're right. I really hope they do well with it. I know Air Baltic and Swiss ops with the 100 and 300 are going really well so far which is good :)
Jonathan Winton I think these will be good airplanes. New types typically have some "teething pains", and there were some engine issues, but they have been sorted out.
They have been you;re right. The initial problems too (which is a bit surprising) has been the ramp up in production of the engine. Still theyre doing a good job whcih is the main thing.
Jonathan how can you hear the air traffic control?
Using an airband scanner.
Great day 2 b watching & listening 2 atc Really nice video Jonathan just this min seen your link in RB24 was great 2 c as i have just stated 2 get bck in2 this hobbie got my radio & a rtl-sdr & sharing on RB24 would hav loved 2 been there 2 day but no way of getting there but listening was good going 2 follow u on SM & thanks 4 the info on NEAMPR going 2 b looking into that
