@GodxSkillz94 that is a good question. i wonder if it is because, it's an dSLR that will also function with an old Pentax series (K-mount was it?) system camera lens system? Or maybe, it's compatible with other lenses. Sometimes, photographers just need the body, they already have a good lens. It used to be so but, I am retro era, 35mm lol, out of date,..that's why I am here.
Guys I know nothing about cameras but I have been thinking of buying the Sony NEX-5N for almost $800... I am going on vacation and will be going to a few concerts and I want to take some epic pictures and video... My question is... Is the NEX-5N a good choice or can I still get something better for a cheaper price?... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
@LoveIsNotNotLove 2..Nikon 14mp Coolpix with a decent optical zoom though, LoL. I will probably end up buying this year a Nikon, Sony, Panasonic Lumix, Canon Ti3 Rebel or the decently prices Rollei dSLR, as this is abit, more money than, i can 'burn.' However, that does not keep me from enjoying looking at reviews and daydreaming about haveing one! : ) I mean, I could, go to the bank but, it'd be kind of irresponsible for me. --Could U do a short review on how it does video?:--magic word-- PLZ!
I never looked down my nose at Pentax. In fact a pro photographer told me once that, Pentax Optics,- back then in the day of Pentax 1000, Nikon and Canon F2-F3 and if U were poor a Yashicha FX3 w Zeiss lens for $99.-s or if U had money to burn a Leica or Contax 35mm SLR- he said Pentax manufactured all the lenses of the the top 5 camera makers: was that true then? Does anyone know? Anyhow, thx, good review Mike, as I was looking at a Mamiya w simular specs, 40mp & all. I have a ..
agree I am really interested in getting my hands on the sony a7/a7r. that camera with the right adapter can work with a wide variety of lenses (modern and vintage) from canon, nikon, etc. so if you shop around you can carefully look for a lens that suits your budget.
I want to see an episode of Mike Perlman cribs. I just watched some videos of your dance tryout and American idol. Dude your awesome. People need to google you to see how funny you really are.
@blainedolan ..if U were shooting to have larger poster of a film star, politician PR client or pop singer, for instance, or an advert, or portrait photo as Mike mentions, then wouldn't one prefer a 4Omb ccd and, a nice set of lenses? I would. But, I also understand your sentiment, yes, a Nikon J will do for most people and certainly a Lumix w Leice Lens will do for a small CD cover and is easy to carry around. Just my thoughts: two diff users and two diff purposes to cameras. blah, blah,..; )
Wow some of you people on here are so clueless about photography. Medium format is a huge difference than full frame 35mm. And for Pentax to come out with one for 10k that's really really good. If you think that's expensive look at the Leica S2 or some of the Hasselblads. I own a couple of medium format film cameras and the quality you get from them is unrivaled even by Canon's 5D mark II or Nikon's D700. I love crop and full frame...i usualy shoot that way but med format has better quality
How much smaller to the real size reduction to 60mm X 45mm? All medium digital formats are really an aps/dead weight cameras. You are hold a 10 lbs camera & with a flash will be much more.
@DefiningTechnology A camera phone will have as many megapixels as it wants. Their pictures still wont look as good as a camera with a bigger sensor and sharper lens.
Hey there, are you familiar with "MagicSFXphoto" (just search on Google for it ...)? There you will find a great free video demonstrating the way to take better pictures. This helped Matt to create photographs that have a jaw-dropping-effect any time you take a look at them. It may help you out as well.
this a good camera i have used one i would love to own one, it is not a camera for everyone. if you doing landscape, wedding, fine art or architectural photography this camera might be for you. if you are normal every day photographer it might be a little to much for you to handle...
Everyone thought Nikon was crazy when they came out with 36.3 MP D800. I imagine they are going after the entry level MFD market. Nikon D800E Field Test with Nick Devlin /watch?v=S0plNkdLkeE
@toasterdance i know i said that. i just want to hear what mike says i never said you were a bad team only bad thing about the devils is they beat the rangers..... rangers have been my back up since 07-08 .......
I know a lot about photography and camera's, but I just don't get this whole "Medium Format" craze! Who wants to carry around a 15 lb. camera all day when you can get VERY comparable results with a camera that weights half and is WAYYYY more versatile than these things! Just my two cents! I'll stick with the Canon EOS series cameras!
I would love to shoot MF. However, I'd just be happy if Pentax got around to making a FRIGGIN' full frame already!!! I don't want to have to go to another brand to get a bigger sensor.
@sccerstr09 Jon is in the office and likely has a ballin' internet speed. This chap looks to be in the country based on most of his videos and so probably doesn't have as brilliant a net connection.
@toasterdance ohhh sorry never seen your seprate channel just this one.... i subbed anyways and i found the ultimate hockey league funny. plus in hockey we agree on one thing..... we both hate the islanders...... at least i hope you do....whats your top 5 teams. mine is probably all the teams you hate 1. blue jackets 2. rangers 3. sabres 4. lightning 5. sharks
Brand names are pronounced differently all around the world. British people for example, pronounce Nikon differently. There is no right or wrong way to pronounce words.
Medium Format on par with Full Frame?!? It's on a whole new level!
@GodxSkillz94 that is a good question. i wonder if it is because, it's an dSLR that will also function with an old Pentax series (K-mount was it?) system camera lens system? @ofeklivny I knew someone would catch that just as it was happening, but I was too lazy to reshoot the intro.
Are you from New York or north Jersey?
does it shoot video?

How is the video quality??
does this work with regular pentax lenses?
does it shoot 4k video?
hey what happened to info sync world??
DRTV needs to review this
I subscribed to this chaneel just for this guy! Mike great job on your reviews!
Good review. I shoot a 60D and my my is that Pentax huge. Pictures look great though. Thanks.

great camera reviews
I didn't know you guys did photo stuff :D
Oh i soo wish i could afford a Leica S system. That is a large sensor not quite as big as Medium formats like Hasselblaud & 645D.
Oh man I wish I could get that. Wonderful camera, excellent review! Thanks!
What is this Layicas you speak of? :)
Oh yes, I am happy I got a decent collection of legacy lenses. Only thing I dont like is the slower 5fps shooting vs my nex-6 10fps :)
Hes really good at camera reviews
Nice review. But pretty funny that you are showing the mirror as if it was the censor :)
I don't have the money for these camera's but your videos are very informative.
@DefiningTechnology what was your first clue?
I want to see an episode of Mike Perlman cribs. I just watched some videos of your dance tryout and American idol. Dude your awesome. People need to google you to see how funny you really are.
It is very expensive to manufacture a big sensor like that. I will have a medium format but using 120 or 220.

Still have to master my regular DSLR, then hop to advanced, then this, long way to go, long way...
$10000
Wow, that's more than the price of diamonds and gold
0:12 my heart stopped for a second
@DefiningTechnology
A camera phone will have as many megapixels as it wants. Their pictures still wont look as good as a camera with a bigger sensor and sharper lens.
great review bro
Good review
Canon D1x in description.
I like you can you do reviews on other things besides cameras
But does it shoot RAW videos :p
No video mode, darn it.
Fully weather sealed too
Plus dslr feels more portable and comfortable in the hands

I want that camera!
I need a Layika so I can be an eccentric hobbiest ;)
This guy is cool
great place they did this review
@DefiningTechnology we currently have 16 mp so i give it few months lol
It does not, even if the lens mount fits the camera via an adapter you wouldn't take advantage of the sensor size.
Everyone thought Nikon was crazy when they came out with 36.3 MP D800. I imagine they are going after the entry level MFD market.
Nikon D800E Field Test with Nick Devlin
/watch?v=S0plNkdLkeE
645d currently $7000
comparable Hassy (H4d-40), $17000
@pinkfloydfannn Central Jersey, around Princeton.
why does that even allow jpeg?
The 645D retails at no more than $5k, no $10k
this was also filmed in 2012
Now, yes. But when they were new (before the 645Z came out) they were $10k
Pentex sent him it to review it
Pentax is a quite ninja, but ownes everyone
i love how you say Mamiya and Leica lmao
@toasterdance i know i said that. i just want to hear what mike says i never said you were a bad team only bad thing about the devils is they beat the rangers..... rangers have been my back up since 07-08 .......
$10,000? The company must have had to give it to you.
I have a Canon Powershot A550. U jelly?
Try the D800! :D
It's over 9,000!
I know a lot about photography and camera's, but I just don't get this whole "Medium Format" craze! The perfect camera for a 16 year old girl with a rich dad to take mirror selfportraits with!
But seriously, for that price, i'd rather go for a 5D :P
i like this guy.very professional
Like these vids... Hs20exr ?! Please!!
with the lens this thing was only 500$ less than my 2 year old, 3000 mile car...but i want it...
ma-may-a and lay-ka? c'mon dude
If only it had video...
It's the same as .50 cal desert eagle is as a pistol.
that is HUGEEEEE!
Bloody hell...
That is a BEAST of a camera!
I wonder how much a single lens would cost... Jesus fucking christ
I would love to shoot MF. However, I'd just be happy if Pentax got around to making a FRIGGIN' full frame already!!! I don't want to have to go to another brand to get a bigger sensor.
How what a great camera. What one !!
@kylerose1990 I've got to work on that Jersey accent then.
@agc828 he means liecas.
if you had this camera you would not be watching this
@CUB3Jsg22 Toasterdance = Mike Perlman. Hi! That was my comment. And I hate the Rangers--they're my arch nemesis!
not really pentax 645D = $14000 hasselblad(80MP) = $45000
40 megapixels!?
Nice hat! Go Devils!
Do cameras that are not to much money but are are go for action sports and not to big
OVER 9,000 !!!!!!!!!!!
@pugzlie18 me too
Put it through your boot camp :)
@sccerstr09 Jon is in the office and likely has a ballin' internet speed. This chap looks to be in the country based on most of his videos and so probably doesn't have as brilliant a net connection.
0:12 elbow slip fail :D
Did he really just pronounce Mamiya and Leica like that at the end?
My t2i is fine, thank you.
Medium format for me is too pricey i would rather buy a full frame dslr and spend money on quality lenses.
You've obviously never shot medium format. A full frame dslr can't match the quality.
@toasterdance ohhh sorry never seen your seprate channel just this one.... i subbed anyways and i found the ultimate hockey league funny. plus in hockey we agree on one thing..... we both hate the islanders...... at least i hope you do....whats your top 5 teams. mine is probably all the teams you hate 1. blue jackets 2. rangers 3. sabres 4. lightning 5. sharks
@CUB3Jsg22 My top 5:
1. New Jersey Devils
2. New Jersey Devils
3. New Jersey Devils
4. New Jersey Devils
5. Any team that beats the New York Rangers
40 mega px holy shi
hard to take you seriously when you don't even know how to pronounce major brand names.
Brand names are pronounced differently all around the world. British people for example, pronounce Nikon differently. There is no right or wrong way to pronounce words.
Actually, we Americans are the ones who pronounce Nikon differently. To the rest of the world, it pronounced Nick-on.
1080p video? lol
$10000 is pretty good for medium format.
Why the fuck would you just sell a camera body without a lens for 10,000!?!?
