Graceful Exit - de jure Example: Through The Ages. It officially allows you to resign at the beginning of your turn if it isn't the final round.

LOL 52:07 when people in the crowd didn't understand you could write a script to throw off hand grenades, obviously didn't grow up in the Quake multiplayer times. If you didn't write those scripts you couldn't be nearly as competitive back in the day.
Many kids get interested in coding from scripting for games. Our generation was mostly Quake, these days it's Minecraft.

In Pokemon TCG/VGC competitive someone can just giveup, and the other player wins, it's that simple and timesaving.

    Thank you.
Thank you both for telling the truth - that bigotry is not acceptable, in or out of the gaming space.

Entitled to victory is often a personality problem and can be related how the person was raised.

There are intentional mismatches to inspire in game purchases and if they know how to do this then they know how to make matches in a fuzzy way or more precisely throw in a hard game.
Yes the harassers will use any tool intended to stop or discourage abuse to harass people.

I'm not sure I can consider someone who thinks Scythe is bad a serious gamer.

I've found that the ease of throwing off a sarcastic "What a Save" in Rocket League can disincentivise actually putting effort in and throwing out racist and sexist remarks.

Faking an injury is a way to quit in real world sports games. I wondered how many board games or electronic games have an equivalent.
Agree , say ¿how into this game are you? to the other players. Ask this in a nonwhiney way.

I'm not playing "The Game". I don't agree to the rules. You may, but I do not.

*raises hand slowly* I play games on mac, and I shoot people with my track pad.

I love your stuff and i would love to share your content with friends and family but you need to clean up your language and find better ways to express your emotions.

The parts about cultural masculinity, harassment and gender. 90% of the presentation was about quitting games, those other bits pulled my attention away from the topic and made the message disjointed, was this about harassment or quitting? I've been binging on your videos this weekend really enjoying them :)

    • @GeekNightsRym
      @GeekNightsRym  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Those are core parts of the problem with quitting. Harassment is probably the single biggest problem in games today, perpetrated almost entirely by men.
If you somehow disagree with this or are "distracted" by discussion of it, then you appear to have missed the point of basically all of our talks.

I feel like harassment is more about squelching and in game communication tools and less about quitting. It's also a drastically different issue in digital and analog games and deserves its own talk.
I loved the parts where you talked about games giving players explicit outs and a good way to quit, I felt that was one of the best points in the video.

I would disagree with Rym. There're games that flourish in not-repressive ambiances.
