So happy to find this recommendation. We use a saltwater system and have found that we get 3 seasons out of our Intex frames before the rust is so bad, we need to toss it. I've always thought it to be a shame since the liner is still in good shape! I've wrapped the T-joints with silicone tape and that has lessened the rusting there, but it's a lot of work and we've found the horizontal poles (that slip through the top of the liner) rust anyway. This year I paid 3x what I used to pay for an Intex Pool so I'd really like it to last LONGER than 3 years!! Going to try this product!
@@savannahodom8143 I'm not worried about the legs of my ladder, as we take it out of the pool after every use. I'm more concerned with the "T" joints and the horizontal poles that slide into the top of the liner. Are those parts now showing rust on your's, even though you treated them?
Definitely going to be getting this. Thanks for the suggestion. Only thing I want to check first is if it has oil in it as I have heard that oil or an oil based lubricant used for this will break down the pool liner . I guess the wiping it on would mostly eliminate that problem though?
They rust from the inside, out, so this only delays the agony. All that's needed is a slightly smaller diameter, strong PVC pipe, which is pushed inside the rusting sections as they fail. Easy!
Is this similar to the dry lube stuff for chains? That stuff has a waxy coating. I use it quite a bit on stuff I don't want to get oily but needs lubricated.
@@joev1779 We got it, and everything works fine. Next spring, I will have to change the tarp underneath and most likely revel the dirt for the floor and put the legs even with the ground. Sure is a lot of work, but I love being in the water.
Unfortunately I had my build without any rust protection now I’m having the problem my pool is only like 6 months old and I can see you Rust on the connections would the spray wok or any suggestions.. thanks
Since the ladders on these pools sit in water constantly and you wouldn’t want this chemical in the water is it best to remove the ladder from the water when not using the pool?
I ordered this and applied it to every square inch of the frame and ladder BEFORE assembling. I Used a rag to ensure it was all covered. Brand new pool has only been up for months ladder legs constantly has rust particles pooling on the bottom of pool and all joints are rusting. Yes, I do use a salt water system. I wouldn't give this product a 1 star, unfortunately 😕
You applied to the ladder? Did you reapply every time you used the ladder and removed from the pool. Ladders are really tough to keep rust free. I don't recommend using this product on ladders as it will leach into the pool water.
I used this product today and it's been a few hours and it doesn't seem to have dried at all. How does this get its waxy coating if it doesn't dry completely?
The only real solution is to feed a slightly smaller diameter PVC pipe inside the rusting one. It works perfectly and is a permanent repair. The same can be done for the legs.
Had that same pool and after a couple of years those windows will begin to leak because of the UV rays. my fram is rusting every where it is a Bestway steel pro max junk
@Joe V is your pool chlorine only or a saltwater generator too? I am a pilot and have my plane sprayed with a aircraft specific solution to prevent rust. Love to know the details with the T-9. Did you still get rust, how long has your pool lasted, etc? Thanks.
Hi. This was a pool we installed. It's a saltwater pool.. using T9 prevents rust almost 100%. It's an incredible product but you gotta use it 2-3 times per season to coat the poles
@@joev1779 I have my pool already setup was not planning on taking it down since I live in sunny California. I could drain at end of season and spray T-9 inside and outside poles. Worth spraying on exposed areas now I assume.
Hard to clear coat inside the poles.. Most clearcoat is super thin.. you'd need several coats. T9 is better than clear coat and is much easier and more cost effective
That's bull my pool is saltwater and I've treated my pool frame the 1st time before installing it after a month I saw rust coming up on the T,s of the frame so treated it a 2nd time and rust is still popping up..
He’s right WD 40 dissipates in a day outside in bare surface, inside nooks and crannies it lasts. WD40 is great to use on equipment and tools prior to storing in a garage for sure though. Rust inhibitor is often cheaper than WD too
Thank you!! Planning to get the same pool that you have and saw some bad reviews talking about rusting so your video is a life saver🤣🤣

Sounds like you'd save a lot of money if you would use chlorine instead of salt
Why not by the parts from intex? They sell individual parts

Wish I saw this sooner. I have the exact pool. 4th summer and the rust is about unsafe at this juncture.
I ordered this product I’m putting up my pool this weekend and will spray all supports with it I got 5 cans.
How did it work?
Thank you so much. Really appreciate it.
Purchased it for my pool, ty!!

How do know if your pool is second are three generation pool?
Excellent information thank you! subscribed.
Do you need to wait on assembly after treating?
No! You can assemble immediately

Found this video after our pool was installed. Can I still use the wipe down method, although our pool is up?
Sure can!
If you disassemble after the season treat the insides of the tubes then
@@joev1779 Thank you!

Have you tried rustoleum rubberized undercoating? We are going to try this on our parts.
Hi.
Sounds like it would work but be careful as the coating make be too thick to allow for parts to fit well.

A little surface rust won't hurt. Just lightly sand it with 600 grit sandpaper. Then apply the spray and lightly wipe with a towel
Since the ladders on these pools sit in water constantly and you wouldn’t want this chemical in the water is it best to remove the ladder from the water when not using the pool?
Yes. Always good to remove the ladder when the pool is not in use anyway as a safety measure
Should I sprayed it on before we put the pool together?
I did and rusting after a few months
Awesome thanks will try it

It will dry overnight as long as you didn't apply too much
how often do you do this.
If it's a saltwater pool we coat the metal once per month or as needed

First Generation windows were horrible. Second generation fixed that issue.
Is it safe to use? What if by any chance it gets into the pool water.
Its safe to use. A little won't cause any harm.
